Going to play Vanilla for the first time, (started with TBC), can't decide between Druid, Priest, Warlock, or Warrior. I really want to play Druid but I'm afraid that it will be boring healbot spam at endgame and that I'd be better off as Priest in that respect (also for spamming Mana Burn, if that exists) or going Warlock for PEEVEEPEEEEE. I know how the classes stack up for the leveling process, I'm more or less thinking about endgame.

For PvP you need to be stance dancing with macros to be a decent Warrior, not just tunneling someone in Zerker...

To spam damage into someone, then, sure, Zerker stance is the best, but if you're 1v1ing someone, then it changes.

For instance, if it's a Rogue, then you should be keeping up Bleed effects, which may require a Rend, if you don't get a Deep Wounds proc, which you can't do in Zerker, but you'll also want him hamstringed, which you can't do in Prot stance... You'll want to be Overpowering, which you can't do in Zerker, but you need to be in Zerker sometimes to effectively dump your rage with Whirlwind.

Can you please raise the issue of automatic mutes or bans, if that was you asking. Because even if they're not just lying and it won't be like it was on Nost, it's still completely impossible to report everyone due to how reporting in WoW works. I don't want to have to make compilation screenshots for 2 months, and then if anything is even done (which I doubt will be), as soon as they're banned, another crop will pop up to replace them.

Perpetually reporting is a really terrible solution.

And honestly, the same goes for farmers/exploiters/etc. - there's always going to be more of them than people who will bother reporting. If someone's got 10 bots parked somewhere, there's no fucking way to fight it, how do they not understand that actual account/gold selling corporations can't be fought by player reports?

Of course my suspicion is that they understand this very well, and they're just throwing this out as a PR option to look as if they're trying.

I don't think people are afraid of custom content, it's just that no ones ever go to experience properly scripted raids like AQ or Nax for the most part. Once nax has been raided for quite a bit on Nost I'd be fine with a separate server with added custom zones designed for post Nax content.

But at that point it's more worth it just to start working on TBC. The private server scene has to actually script the current content that people want to play before making custom stuff.

yes do the imp quest if you're anything with an easy quest for example human, there will be 800 people in the area and the book is an instant respawn so you won't have to kill any mobs. If you go something that requires killing something skip it.

Head straight to level 5 mobs and grind them till level 5 and head straight to first major quest hub and start leveling.

Once you're level 10 find a buddy and grind level 15s till you are level 14 and start your level 10 zone this will allow you to rapidly kill everything solo and not get too far ahead of your zone while keeping a lead.

I think TBC is an excellent stopping point for a good private server scene.

Vanilla --> TBC pserver with reasonable progression timetable would be the comfiest. 10 and 25 man raid are comfy. Heroic dungeon gearing is comfy. Arenas are comfy.

Don't get me wrong, I like AV grinding, world pvp sans flying mounts, and blackrock mountain well enough... But I think I had a better experience in WoW once the 40man raid scene faded into the periphery of TBC...

Nelf warriors are strong. Druids are very good in both PvE and PvP, but you will be resto in both. But resto PvP is not just brain dead clicking on health bars at all. Alliance has a lot more flexibility in their race/class combos because their racials are pretty mediocre for the most part. Whereas on horde you're gimped by a mile if you're not orc/undead.

No. Consecration helps immensely though and getting the Holy Str talent and pushback resistance aren't too bad. They suck a lot at tanking since they take a ton of dmg, have no taunt, no mobility, no interrupt, drink a lot and start having major threat issues at higher levels. But it definitely gets shit done and it's better to have a Paladin tanking than wait ages for a Warrior to tank.

1-10 is painful. Imp is garbage and you basically either Shadowbolt spam or DoT and melee/wand. Once you 14 for Improved Corruption and 16 for Improved Drain Soul, you become one of the best levelers, second only to Druids. On established servers, Warlock alts are the easiest class to level due to being able to buy spell/shadow dmg gear. With enough dmg you can just CoA>Corr>Siphon mobs to death; except you can kill 5-6 mobs at a time and end the fight at full health/mana.

Other general tips to getting ahead: ignore professions (unless you're going enchanter) but do get First Aid but only make bandages while you need to go afk or while you need to wait for something and stuff like that. Know which quests to skip and which quests to do depending on if you're ahead or behind. For example the burning blade coven quests in NE Durotar are horrible if you're going Orc lock because of all the back and forth and the ridiculous respawn time on the quest mob, but your Voidwalker quest sends you there so it's worth doing. Skip the Succy/Fel Hunter quest and only do them as you're traveling through the zones, even if you get your other pets at lvl 40-50 it won't make much of a difference, although the Succy is good for CC in dungeons. Orb of Daro something quest is worth doing if the items are updated, otherwise skip it. Enchanted Gold Robe quest is horrible, skip that shit.

I was just talking about alliance. Tauren's racial is good if you're min-maxing strictly for PvE content, but if you want to do any sort of PvP content orcs are a lot more powerful. Since I find world PvP to be a huge part of the games content I wouldn't base your character on strictly raid min-maxing.

Depends on the fight and the server. Some servers is random, some it has a time window, some its an exact time. Regardless having an extra fear immunity that can be used in any form is extremely underrated. A lot of fights positioning and boss direction is very key. If your shaman is not good enough to time tremor it's very very possible for your zerk rage to be on CD when you need to pop it to prevent a fear.

I played on Nost towards the end, this was my experience.
-global lag, felt like .5 seconds, on every action. From spell casts, to moving stuff between bags, looting, etc. There was a very noticeable global lag
-population was actually TOO big. Blizz servers capped at 6k I believe. That is a comfy cap imho, anything higher is NOT 'blizzlike', not vanilla.
-Chat was flooded with gold farmer spam. Chinese players often would not communicate with anyone(I played with many Chinese who were not like this, but to ignore that it happened is just ignorant) -Raids were not as difficult as retail.
-short draw distance
-population far exceeding what the intended pop was on retail,
It was actually not a blizzlike experience at all, with the bloated population and rampant, unpunished gold farming scene. Many mechanics were and will still be missing/broken, expample: Windfury mechanics for shaman.
