So which Titan is recommended to be unlocked for a new player? It starts me with enough to buy one. I'm leaning towards the Tone loadout since I liked it during campaign but I don't want to waste my money, is it a good choice?

Playstation player here, so take this with as many shakers of salt as you like, but I've had real success handling tone players by chucking their fucking rockets back in their face with the 20% vortex kit (all of Ion's kits are underwhelming, might as well take the one that fucks Tone and Leigon the most)

Tone is still broke as fuck, even on console where the playerbase is less on the ball, but vortex helps to thin the herd. Recommend you give it a try if Tonefall has you down.

For Legion players, this is very true. Again though, I'm a PS4 player where game sense is a myth and "learning" is a mystical art few seem to be capable of. I take Legions from 100% to 20% all the time by feeding their own clip back to them.

Why is Ion so fun? Objectively, the splitter rifle is trash and the trip wires are a placeholder for an actual tactical ability, but I can't stop, won't stop playing as her.

Erasing pilots and surgically dismantling mechs with the shoulder laser is too satisfying to quit. Vortex shield shenanigans are just the icing on the laser-cake.

Sooner or later though, they're bound to SONAR you and land two shots (one if crit kit, but who are we kidding, they have the shield kit for sure), and they'll send those rockets your way. Grab 'em. Save a little energy just for this.

Again, this isn't a magic bullet. Tone is still bullshit. Vortex reflects are just a nice way of slowing them down and making them eat a little shit for once.

I think all of Ion's options are fairly bleh. I like entangled because it rewards you for playing right and more lasers are fun.

I'm the fag talking up the vortex boost so obviously I believe in it. It's not necessary against pilots and pretty useless against Scorch, Ronin, Northstar (unless you catch a cluster) and other Ions. But, it's ability to shit on Legion and Tone though (the two most popular and difficult to deal with mechs) makes it more than worth equipping. I

Free tripwire is the only time I'll use tripwire. I just don't see people getting hit by them, ever. Would love to see Respawn tweak Ion's tactical ability.

Grand cannon is fun. Not the most meta choice since it can leave you hanging around too long, but fuck it, lasers are cool.

Just finished the campaign lads, about 6 hours on hard. Loved the boss fights, loved the take over of the transport ship with the 6-4, LOVED the beachhead, loved the smart pilot gauntlet (the data knife and smart pistol kit being embedded in BT reminded me of Fury Road), LOVED BT SO MUCH.

Only thing I didn't love is the ARK, this universe doesn't need ancient alien shit, just make it human developed tech.

Just got the game, can't seem to find your group or network, also I have trying to get into games all morning and not getting anything.

I think it helps that the skill cap for going at maximum fast is actually pretty high, so you have something to work towards in terms of your own skill, as opposed to just unlocking better shit the more you play.

This is the sad truth of TF2.

Tons of cool, interesting weapons and abilities that will get you no where against a kid with a cloak and an smg.

I have the basic gist of bunny-hopping down. I tried holding crouch and just tapping jump like some anon said, but that doesn't work. I have to tap jump and then crouch in quick succession when I hit the ground.

It all falls apart when I try to incorporate A and D into the mix to adjust my heading. I get even more retarded than I already am and end up doublejumping and breaking the hop cycle post-haste.

Titans can be airdropped to literally anywhere and they can climb vertical terrain but they have shit for actual Blitzkrieg-tier mobility, or armor for that matter. A (modern day) tank can hit 35mph cross country, 60 on the road if pushing it and laughs itself hoarse at 40mm ammo pinging off its impenetrable front while obliterating things with its giant fuckoff 120mm smoothbore cannon. It can't punch people but it WILL blast them to shit.

If anything I'd have expected the Militia to operate any odd jeep they could strap a battery of eight Archer missiles to to make a Technical and just drive around and broadside any IMC titan they see to scrap metal.

I don't use the free tripwires for damage, I use them to keep people off my ass while I escape to keep poking them. In that respect they have been immensely useful. I also like to shoot them into indoor areas and watch pilots slide into them

Best case scenario is you're firing it at a pilot when they're close to as many surfaces as possible. It's a splash damage machine. You want all of those four shots to land near the pilot for max damage. And that's all.

Unless you're going purely for pilot kills at mid range it's better replaced by other weapons.

Hit them, then get out of dodge, then use your M1 and melee to murder the fuck out of NPCs and get that phat score until you get the opportunity to swoose right back into the fray; use sword core for UNLIMITED DASH WORKS and then finally nuclear eject one of their freshly spawned titans.

Oh, and use the phase dash to slip past shields or get behind enemy titans/past allied titans. That shit is useful.

I figured out why titans are the default combat vehicle of the setting

space is a pain in the ass for engineers
purpose building ships and ground transports for every possible gravity or environmental variation would be a massive waste of resources in the long run
so they make humanesque machines and let the pilot's brain/AI combo do the adjustment work naturally

as a plus it also lets the pilot focus exclusively on combat instead of driving

I want to like the Mastiff because it should be cool and great, but it's constantly a 2-3 hit kill at ranges the EVA would be one-shotting at. Is there something I'm missing, or does it really suck this bad?

It's a downgrade from the EVA-8 in most situations. The story with the Mastiff seems to be that it can do everything the EVA-8 can, except it's way harder to do, and in return there are a few shots you can make with the projectiles like that that you couldn't do with the EVA-8.

Nine times out of ten, the guy you just killed with a Mastiff would've already been dead if you'd been using an EVA-8, and it'd have been easier, too. But that one time you do some stupid shot that you wouldn't have hit otherwise because of Mastiff's weird spread and you feel good about using it.

It's not a good gun, especially not compared with "top-tier competitive level ass-mulcher EVA-8", but you get rewarded for picking it every once in a while. Definitely a "screw around" gun, though.
