You get some good cards from finishing most of a character's story so always do that

pick a class or two you want to play, discard everything for other classes. Do all the stories for arena tokens, beat every class on expert training once for 200 gold each, spend up all your arena tokens and grind arena. That's what i did when i needed 15k for my first deck. Also low budget stuff like swordcraft zoo is an option too for low rank ranked rewards.

Banner Sword is cheap, good and doesn't need legendaries. The best Sword decks (Midrange and Control) needs a fuck ton of legendaries though.
Considering you have 1 Moon rabbit and a Garuda you can consider building Storm Haven which is pretty mid tier in expense. You can expand with Control Sword with your Leonidas and Alexander or Seraph Haven with your enstatued seraphs as well.

I finally figured out why control is bad in this game. Well, aside from the obvious dev doing everything in their power to make it as underpowered as possible, because their casual audience don't like long games. Control decks are the only ones that play with a pesudo resource system, and have requirements for their cards. Control Blood needs vengeance to do anything, control Rune needs earth Sigils, control Shadow needs shadows, and control Dragon needs high PP. Compare control Blood to aggro Blood, aggro Blood's cards all serve the purpose of the deck, which is going face, whereas control Blood needs to draw cards, trigger vengeance, and get to the late game without dying. To do this, you need a variety of cards all of which will be dead at one point of the game or the other compared to aggro, where every card is playable at every point of the game.
The same applies to every other control deck that is struggling. They all lack 2 in 1 cards that serve both the purpose of setting up, and keeping them alive. Earthrite needs more cards that do both, too many games you end up with a hand that either is entirely earth sigils, or has none. Shadow can literally do nothing if they don't have the required Shadows for Breath or Tempest. The solution is all too simple, just make 2 for 1, or even 3 for 1 cards that don't do contribute to dealing face damage or putting stats on board, they just give value and keep you alive. It would also go a long way if you nerf the obvious sacky bullshit like Roach, Garuda, and DoD, but this was probably discussed to death already.

It's not just vengeance minions sucking that's the issue. Vengeance itself sucks, because it's a requirement for the cards to be playable, and it's risky as fuck. If vengeance was FREE to trigger, as in you could set yourself at 10 for no cards whatsoever, it would still be bad. And now I have most of the legendaries in the game and playsets of the ones I use. And I've spent no money besides the one time crystal deal. It's not hard to build a good collection in this game without spending money as it's super generous.

There are reasons.
The first is to push for damage if you're currently the beatdown. The second is to use it defensively; for instance, evolving on an empty board so your opponent has a harder time killing your minion. If you know your opponent is going to evolve in response to yours you can pre-emptively evolve your minion so it doesn't just die for free. It's also commonly used on big wards to make it harder to break through without hard removal; though risky, a play like that can be game-winning.
Some people are just idiots though, especially in shitter ranks.
