So turned out i hacked 3ds in like march and it was a9lh and reinand 4.5. I did the upgrade as luma site says, configured luma 6.5 and it boots fine into SYS 10.7. Do i need anything else or i can just update that shit and that's all?

Can someone explain to me why the home menu hax requires you to already have homebrew in order to put homebrew on your 3ds?

does the bin file for the outlines for moon also works with sun?

ALSO, BEFORE I DO ANYTHING, I'M STILL PARANOID AS FUCK ABOUT THIS ARM9LOADERHAX.BIN FROM WHEN I FORMATTED.

It was the only thing left on the SD after formatting, and its size is apparently a fair bit bigger than then Arm9LoaderHax.bin I backed up from before the formatting section.

So just for complete and utter clarification, I definitely use the one I backed up before the formatting, and NOT the one that was left after formatting?

Use JKSM, export savedata, then google ACNL save editor.
and put your garden_plus.dat into that from your directory "root:/JKSV/saves/animal crossing", edit your stuff.
(don't unlock all PWPs or use the complete encyclopedia, it'll corrupt your save)

Yes, use the backup. You have a9lh installed, that .bin is only where it loads from. If you ever have issues, you can download another one. You're not at any risk anymore. All you're doing now is cleaning up, you can't brick at this point.

If you have a .cia installer already on your emunand (FBI, BBM, DevMenu) you can skip injecting FBI. You should do the finalizing set up part. You can probably ignore the "restoring tickets" since you overwrote your sysnand.

All the fuckery done with the system may require a reinstall, who knows. All I know is that if you have FBI installed at current, you have no reason to inject it again. But you should install the latest version of it for the QR code compatibility.

And yes, you can just update. The first two wouldn't apply to you. And once you update you're pretty much done, the rest is installing a few ease-of-life apps and cleaning up.

If it says Sys 10.3, then yes, that's all right. If it doesn't then it will once you do steps 20-23 in that section. And you're done and can update like normal.

No. EmuNAND is a copy of your SysNAND. CFW is what loads your EmuNAND. Switching CFW is as simple as extracting a few files to your SD card.

What are the odds that after this Sun and Moon leak, Gamefreak and subsequently Nintendo in general starts a Bethesda like review policy where they dont send out review copies until 1 day prior to release?

Obviously this wouldn't stop possible games leaks because Stores will always get their copies like a week early but it could significantly slow down game leaks.

Just tried to downgrade my O3DS and i didn't really pay attention to what was happening on the screen, but after a while i got an error message that said to turn off my 3DS.

Now when i start the 3DS the screens remain black and Homebrew does not open when booting while holding down.

You're right, there is no point using wireless transfer for a .cia file. You may as well just use socketpunch for a .cia.
But for small files like savegames or retro ROMs, it's just convenient to use wireless transfers.

You clearly have Luma emuNAND. I believe it runs through emuNAND with the latest Luma, so you should be fine. If you installed the preload cia at any point before this, you'll need to launch the game through FBI instead of on the home menu.

What does it mean if Pokemon Moon keeps sending me "an error has occured, please hold the power button"

So, not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I'm really not sure where to go with my n3ds right now. A few days ago, in the middle of playing it, the system, all on its own, went to the power off screen and then shut off. It wouldn't turn on at all after that. I figured it had something to do with the power button, so I took it to a local game shop to get it repaired, and a few days later they told me they can't fix it, as it's an issue with the motherboard. What do I do now? Do I just buy a new system? Anyone know if nintendo would be able to repair something like this, or if they would just send me a new 3ds like I've had done in the past. Problem with that is I'd have to redo all the CFW and everything I had installed, and there's a chance they send me a system on the latest firmware. Not really sure where to go at this point

Nothing, other than a refined CFW.
CFW does exist, and it has piracy, but it can be a little daunting user friendliness wise, but it works.
No coldboot or offline method, as in it doesn't launch at startup, you need to go to a browser to launch it.

Basically if you really want games, you can do it now. If you want a completely refined experience, probably wait until christmas

Should I give up on hacking my o3ds?

I followed the guide, hit a few hiccups but appeared to install homebrew, Luma, etc. Both sun and Moon start up with a blank screen. I've tried uninstalling(&deleting the tickets) and reinstalling the games. I've tried launching the games inside FBI (and normally).

Should I try redoing everything from scratch? My only idea is I somehow fucked up my install.

If I give up completely, should I try to restore my backup?

Do the newer N3DS come on 11.0? Been thinking of getting that black friday version

The problem is that instead of having neatly packed .cia files, installing wiiu titles need some fiddling with files, tickets and folders. However, the latest tools automatize most of the process and now the process is mostly drag & drop and install.
Installation is a bit slow but it's a one time job, you may wait like 30 minuted to install a big game and its updates but then you can play it forever. The really long process is flashing rednand if you want it.

The only way I could find the festival plaza's points' address was by connecting NTRclient, dumping the memory, resetting the console, dumping it again, resetting, dumping a third time and searching for the values with cheat engine.

Download it on your PC, and use FBI and Socketpunch (https://github.com/Olmectron/SocketPunch/releases) to install it directly from your PC to your 3DS. Much more efficient than dragging it on your SD card, then installing it from there. Doesn't require double space either.

Okay, just finished hacking my o3DS XL. I did the same to my o3DS yesterday.

The o3DS has a 16 GB SD card and the XL only 4 GB.

I want to play Sun/Moon on the XL tho.
Can i copy the SD card from the o3DS to my computer now as a backup and paste the contect from the 4GB to the 16GB card to play on the XL?
