The way I see it, Goku is, let's face it: pretty simple minded. He's not a retard like in Super, but he's not really the most complex thinker on most matters. It's part of why he's so dysfunctional socially within his group of friends and associates, whereas Vegeta instead adapted successfully.

He probably associates Radditz as the fucker who came to his house and kidnapped his kid and killed him the first time. He hates him on a feral, primal level, even though he's much, much less deserving of hate than almost everyone else goku has spared. Just that, a sort of monkey man pavlov effect.

Also reminder that Raditz has never had an official power level from Toriyama himself. The closest we've had is two video games, and Daizenshuu 7, which lists it at 1,500, while one of the Vol. has a Saibaman at 1,200.
