if you hate social pressure tanking probably isnt for you. youre expected to take the initiative, expected you know what youre doing, and expected to talk on ts. all i can say is that tanking raids is less stressful than tanking 5mans because you got multiple tanks each assigned to specific targets where everyone knows what to do. in 5mans youre gonna have to babysit your group and aoe tank 5 mobs because the healer hots you before pulling or because dps dont know how to focus.

level a tank and do some low level dungeons. if you can do that, you can probably tank raids.

don't worry about how long it takes to get to 60. the leveling process can be fun. don't be one of the people who rush to 60 to be one of the first to raid on the server, those people soon realize that they've hit the plateau and that the rush wasn't worth it. the first guilds to reach MC are the first guilds to disband due to burning out.

having nightfall on an offtank warrior is just so much better than on a shaman, since shaman has exactly one instant cast melee attack which is on a cooldown, while the offtank can spam hamstring to fish for procs (or if he needs to actually tank, just build threat with the 2hander then swap to shield when he needs to hold the boss)

even hunter does a better job because of wingclip, and melee hunter would pull similar if not more DPS than an enh shaman if he gets WF totem

1 per raid is mandatory for hardcore guilds, 15% straight dmg boost to all locks is insanely good. Also shadow in its own right does good dps.

Ret can be good in PvP but all you're doing is waiting for SoC to proc while keeping yourself alive. It's lacking many, many tools and is mostly about reacting to what enemies do rather than making your own plays.

Raid dps is very rare and you have to be extraordinary to pull competent dps. Maybe consider asking for a spot as a Nightfall user.

1 shadow is far from mandatory, since you only want 3 locks for the curses. Given that locks are mediocre DPS even with spriest buff, +45% to sub-par DPS plus a spriest's sub-par DPS does not justify the 2 debuff slots ESPECIALLY on new Nost which is starting with 8 debuff slots. It's fine with 16 (locks actually get to cast corruption which means the overall spriest package becomes a bit less shit) but 2/8 debuffs just isn't gonna happen.
