it's a lot more deceptive than most shit AU's because it looked at least passable at first, and as time went on it became clear that the creator had all the basic components for a story but no way to fit them all together, which is why there's no conflict, stakes, friction, theme, or anything really except a lot of fanservice that's increasingly eaten up by Chara

Look at the change from old to retcon Flowey. Old Napsta-Flowey had a very similar style and behavior like the original, but rather than be entirely unimaginative, it actually kind of makes sense. Whoever 'the Flowey' is, was robbed of something that is a core to all monsters, so to see that they would end up as such a creature actually makes sense.

New Napsta-Flowey is... nothing. He has absolutely nothing going for him. He has Blooky's basic personality, except not giving a shit about injuries to Frisk. While that's close to the original Blooky, it's also boring as all fuck and does anything BUT present Flowey as a villain, or even remotely interesting. In the original game, you knew from the Flowey encounter that you had to be careful with this character, but Napsta-Flowey in the retcon is just a whole load of nothing. The only reason you're interested is because you've played the game and KNOW he has more to him than meets the eye.

I honest am really fucking mad that the phone conversations were given to Chara. So much of Papyrus' character is expanded in the phone convos and they have some of the best humor in the game.
