Is there anything wrong with playing just hardpoint? I really love the idea of defending objective areas without really focusing on taking down specific players or racing to find someone and beat them. You can kinda take the game at your own pace and still be good at the game as a defender as opposed to an attacker.

Hardpoint feels like the most twitch reliant mode which is why it generally gets fewer people.
It's solid tho, if you know how to use your movement and weapons and NEVER STAY IN ONE SPOT HOLY SHIT.
Get two people to defend each point, preferably one with some wallhack knife or map hack to even out the issue of getting rushed.
There was a gif on here of some guy using sonar knife to see who was coming out of a certain hallway and kept bouncing around the room to keep from being camped.

The fundamental problem is they gave Tone the 40mm and particle wall and nerfed titan mobility across the board. In TF1 the 40 was one of the best titan weapons, and used by most players, but it sucked close up vs the rocket launcher and the chaingun due to the amount of screen shake those guns put out.

My suggestions for first-step solutions are either:
Switch Tone and Northstar core abilities so Northstar has a long range effective core.

Or (probably more popularly)

Restore titan dashes to TF1 numbers and change the turbo perk to add more sprint (or maybe all movement) speed instead of more dashes.

Why are the pilot executions so inconsistent? I manage to sneak up on a pilot, old f, then the enemy simply gets knocked out.

Can I start holding f as I approach the pilot? I regenerated and am at level g2.19, but have only done 3 executions the entire game, and don't attempt them because they don't happen.

The Volt is perfectly fine

You should only care about viability if you're planning on getting really competitive in this game or something. Practically every weapon is viable to use against pubbers, and it's incredibly rare to run into actually good players.

I have had a couple of matches where I've had to switch to a "serious" weapon, but that's the exception and not the rule.

First person embarks, they really did it for me in TF1, they HAVE to return.

Autotitan needs a massive buff.

So why didn't they remove the Titan timer ? Kinga missing the point TF1 was making with the conflict constantly escalating and no kiddie being unable to get a Titan at least once.

The way to fix Tone is make it that rocket salvo requires either 4 or 5 locks, and the sonar ping adds two. Slows the DPS slightly, maybe a slight ult nerf on top of that as well.

Honestly... that's a problem with this game.

The titan fights are kind of meh, at least compared to just being on foot. The pilot's gameplay is on point. The movement feels amazing and the shooting is satisfying beyond all fuck. The titan stuff in comparison puts me to sleep.

Last Titan Standing is a shitty mode, and it's boring.
Pilot vs. Pilot is kept alive only by the godly mobility in the game

I think it shines when you've got pilots scrambling over each others mechs while engaging in rapid pace firefights alongside, with the mechs dancing around each other and picking off any pilot foolish enough to stand still.
That's what the game was meant for, and it's beautiful when everything happens at once.

Any modes that have equal mix of titan and pilot usage are perfect.

i said titans, not pilots. trying to kill a pilot via titanfall is a bad idea obviously, they are too fast. but against something like a legion/scorch who is slow and might not be paying attention to his suroundings, an extra 3 seconds on the timer will make the kill much easier.
im not saying its the best or anything and yeah of course theres the trade off of your titan being vulnerable, but its not "useless" by any means.

If you for whatever reason miss their titan, or God forbid get killed on your way to your mech, the lack of a dome shield is going to make your mech get ripped to shreds while you're trying to get to/in it. If you're not fighting back you can lose half your health in that span of time unless you're Legion or something.

It's less of being useless and more of being a large risk for a dubious reward.

The damage is a lot stronger then you would think, considering the gimmick to the gun. You could get off four or five shots before it goes full auto and still kill someone. Recoil is a little squirrelly though, but it isn't bad by any means.

If you're completely new, use the CAR and stim. Run on the walls as much as you can, don't stay still, melee if you're in spitting distance, don't listen to people who say run from groups, you can easily mow down 3 guys if you're being super jumpy, use arc grenades and throw them where you see people running(Ie lead them)

Any recommendations on my loadout? New to this series and haven't played a multiplayer FPS in years so I'm not sure what's best to use but I've been having great success with this so far.

I mainly don't know what attachments to use on my Volt and if there's a more effective secondary I could be using.

Well, it's a Modern Tactical Shooter(tm), so most of the weapons have relatively minor differences and the majority of the time, if you get the jump on somebody, you're going to kill them regardless of what it is that your trigger-finger's attached to.

That being said, the G2 (Assault Rifle), CAR and Alternator (SMGs), DMR (Sniper, if that's your deal) and EVA-8 (Shotgun) are all solid weapons, two of which you have unlocked at level 1.

As far as Titans go, Tone, Legion, and (to a lesser extent) Ion are all excellent picks. Ion is one of the starter Titans, and it's worth learning how to pilot it. Once you get Tone, it'll feel like you're cheating. It's already survived one nerf (as murky and non-specific as it was) and is still pretty solidly on the top of the heap. Legion too, but you unlock him last.

That being said, I often find myself playing Scorch, or running around with the bolt-action sniper just for the hell of it. Just like most CoD titles, the super-fast time-to-kill on players means that anything that shoots bullets is probably going to work fine unless you're playing competitively. I cannot think of a single weapon or Titan (no, not even Northstar) where I'd see a player using it and think "Man, what a total drag on the team".

TLDR: Don't worry about it.

Try hardpoint.
The tides change so abruptly in Amped Hardpoint that it's insane but you can't really be an active detriment to your team unless you just stand away from a point and do nothing. Any distraction, point amping or push can spur a comeback. Just hop in and have fun going fast

Level 14 I think gets you the Apex Predators faction, they are the mercenaries that the IMC uses. At level 49 you can unlock General Marder and the Ares faction, they are normal IMC. 6-4 or Aces are the bet tho.

Bounty hunt is pretty annoying, but only due to the money loss system coupled with having only two banks. Everyone just camps and its a pain.

But it is redeemed in the sick as hell titan/pilot interactions going on. Feels much more engaging to have everything on the field at once, even if you have to waste time fighting shitty AI minions.

Attrition is pretty fun though.

PvP is just vanilla tdm. Bounty Hunt is Vanilla TDM with a banking system and hardcore fucking camping because of it.

Attrition is TDM but with tons of grunts and reapers available for points. You can't be a massive faggot and camp a spot to remove points from the enemy. Everyone has to be constantly doing something as the score cap and time is low as fuck.

Because a reaper is worth the same amount of points as a pilot controlling sections of the maps with Titans becomes important and because 5 grunts is also the same value you have incentive to move even as a pilot .

The only thing about attrition I don't understand is the AI enemy spawns. Does the losing team get more grunts to kill or reapers? Does the winning team get less grunts to kill? Too often the losing team has miraculously pulled ahead in the last minute after being down 100 points the whole game. While that's happening I desperately am searching for enemies to kill of which there are none.

What's a worthwhile thing to spend credits on?

I imagine it's equal. The reason for the last minute scramble is because of the point value of reapers. If you've eliminated the enemy Titans and have control of the map to grab a few Reaper kills your score quickly skyrockets.

1) Unlocks. If you have an ability you absolutely can't live without, buy it.
2) Cosmetics. Same thing. If you want one, buy it. Same goes for execution animations.
3) Want shit from Advocate Gifts? Buy Coliseum tickets and get them that way.
