If you want inventive names, try a different ethnicity. Germans in general don't create names, they adapt the local ones (see Vindobona > Wien, Birl-in > Berlin, Colonia > Köln, Po-more > Pommersch).

Well, time to try to get back.

First changes are in Alaska, which had a few modern names but most importantly, russians. Having a country be old-world primary culture causes a few problems, and it's not really logical considering how the rest of the tags work, so now Alaska has a generic "alaskan" that stars as accepted in Russia but it's lost if they sell it.

The culture uses a mix of yankee and russian names, so you can see yankee first names with russian surnames and vice versa or purely yankee or russian names. Alaska is also orthodox instead of protestant, making it the only orthodox tag in the new world.

Pops in the capital province, old Sitka, will start protestant to allow Canada/UK/USA to spread Protestantism there (since immigrants will assimilate in alaskan) but all other pops in the other provinces are orthodox.

Before there were non native pops only in Sitka, now every owned province has a few alaskan pops. All these provinces had settlements or forts, but since there's no census data (and the provinces cover a really large area), the lowest amount possible is used in all the provinces.

Only thing I need to decide on how to do is the name change after the sale but it will probably default to neutral/native names.

Next up are the canadian names and the Misc submod.

I think I can. The whole border is mountain provinces. By around 1890 I should be on level with military tech. The plan is to sit in the mountains and let the British destroy themselves. I need around 70 divions of 10 to man the border perfectly, which should be possible with mobilisation.

Another thing was a rework of native pops, at least in the provinces I touched. Now instead of having inuit animist clergy contributing to the country's research and literacy, natives are only farmers/labourer and aristocrats.

I'm currently considering severely limiting native-Americans and aborigines promotion possibilities. These pops are usually too small and create really small pops when promoting, which slows down the game for nothing and come with their own problems. For example, immediately after being colonized, the inuits in a province in canada start contributing to the province's literacy and the country's research. As soon as the US invents automobiles the native american minors in Alaska can start build cars. Maybe limiting natives to only contributing to a country in the form of farmers and aristocrats would be better.

The problem comes in countries where natives aren't small, like Mexico and Peru/Bolivia and to a point Paraguay.

Im playing the Irish, somehow got a cardinal, scraped together my PI (all 20 of it from decisions) and bet on become pope. Got it out of a miracle. Anti pope happens, I side with the anti pope because I figured closer to me the better. Go along reforming the church. Doing well, die so swap to support the real pope because fuck France (even if in my game they released the English Irish provinces). pope dies, I have no cardinal, so I force the people to pick a new pope, going along with my no nonsense church rule so far. They somehow pick me who has 0% chance from no cardinals and I get 3 new ones from a pick the right people (less reform desire is good) and set up all you can (which should have only given 3 new ones)

So questions, how did I become pope with 0 cardinals and investment, and how did I end up with all the new cardinals even though it said I would get none? I was at litterally 0 PI and cardinals before this now I can start to get some if I hand some land to the church.

I'm calling bullshit on this.

As Florence/Tuscany/Italy/soon Rome, I've been allied with Austria since literally the beginning of the game; and they always had the imperial throne.

While this, I've been slowly eating the Empire, either by declaring war to non-members allied to the members or outright threatening war on members. And not even once Austria asked me for unlawful territory, not even once they got a trust hit against me, and they only threatened to break the alliance once, when I got my AE too high. Eventually, the HRE will be Austria alone, surrounded by a far, far more powerful enemy, and yet they do nothing against this.

I know the AI can't analyze player intentions, but damn. Something must be done against this, I'm effectively using the alliance against my ally in a way that would be obvious for a player.

First off, Austria is kinda missing in flavor imo, so I thought of something. Maybe adding some decision for the Tauern Railway and the Bohinj Railway? I might have worded myself poorly, what I meant to focus on wasn't for the Alps to get a railway, but for Trieste to get a boost. These railways turned Trieste into an even greater strategic shipping port. Something like an even smaller version of the Kiel canal. Seems kinda wrong to have such an an important city just have grain as a RGO.

Well this has been a fun war. Warscore was down to -60% at one point but as soon as I forced Castille out of the war and the French-Anglo armies moved West the holy league just fell apart. Unfortunately my league members are starting to white peace out now because of exhaustion so I might not be able to enforce Protestant superiority. I still got Breton Canada though so in the end I'll be happy no matter what.

At first I didn't think much of the new great power diplomatic options but I'm quite confident that my German pals only stayed in this for as long as they have because I kept paying off their debts so I guess I like that feature now.
