The whole way the body marking system works is pretty weird. They just made the jewelry and stuff all separate though so you can have multiple things on your face at a time now. Hopefully they do it with the bodies. Because I'd love to have the woads and scarring for some of my characters.

Yeah, being able to stuff a lot of jewelry on your face is nice at least. Aside from my gripes with how the body paint system works on beast races I really like how they handle cosmetics like jewelry/hair/beards/etc. Being able to change them on the fly is nice for both variety and RP purposes.

They'd probably have to jury-rig something to make that possible with collectible tatts, I don't know if they use their base colors (like hair does) or have an assigned value as none of my characters had tattoos to begin with but they would either need to set up all the color variations as separate things or make an additional menu somewhere to change the color.

Hello, I've played FFXIV for about 2 years +1 year not playing (ERP).
Yes it's a good MMO, combat is solid, build diversity is there as long as you ignore the metafags. The writing is better than Skyrim, dungeons are fun and challenging to the point where people leave the dungeon as soon as they zone it because it's "too hard" (its not). Overall and enjoyable experience but I suggest you play with friends else it's just another MMO after a week or two.
Def worth the cost of a standard version on one of those game code sites.

Stay away from the Withered Tree, it's really garbage. Even the ERP there is no good. Generally Pact RP is pretty garbage and filled with more drama than any actual RP.

The Gold Coast is getting popular, not to mention the zone is amazing looking. There is a lot of AD RP down at the Bandaari Trading Post in Malabal Tor.

I've played MMOs for about 12 years, if that counts for anything, and I think ESO is actually pretty good. I wasn't there for its launch, so I never experienced the beginning of it, and how bad it was then, but as it is right now I'm actually sort of impressed.

PvE can be very challenging. PvP has a lot of potential, and is a lot of fun although I'd much prefer structured PvP than Cyrodiil zerging or it was a lot of fun a few patches ago. Currently it's in a pretty bad stage and is based on RNG more than skill. Crafting is very well done and stays relevant at endgame. Quests are nothing special, about what you'd expect from a MMO, but they are at least written decently. And even when it essentially is a fetch-quest, it often won't feel like it. I almost never found myself skipping dialogue when first going through it all.

If you're even considering trying ESO, I'd say go for it. You might be impressed as well.

I really liked Oblivions. It felt like it had some depth to it. Not to mention the fact that Martin also mentioned to having been a Sanguine worshiper if you have the staff was pretty cool. Skyrim just felt like it was rushed through really quickly. Not to mention the civil war is just a tiny footnote and the peace summit can be entirely skipped.

Oblivion's was just forgettable, not that Skyrim's was a lot better but I can remember more of it than Oblivion (which is mostly a haze of Oblivion Gates, some shit in Bruma, Cloud Ruler Temple, and also Camoran's little paradise), and it's not like it's a result of not having played in a long time either. I haven't played Morrowind in a far, far longer time than that and I still recall most of the story beats of the MQ.

Didn't know that bit about Martin though. I didn't bother with many of the Daedric quests in Oblivion. And I also missed a bunch of them in Skyrim. It's funny going back and seeing all the things where I thought 'Wow, ZOS remembered that guys like Hermaeus Mora exist!' and realizing that they actually just are using shit Beth established in Skyrim.

$14 Is a steal for a buy-in MMO of this quality that has no sub fee unless you want some non-essential goodies. Wide build variety, solid dungeons, above average story, full voice acting, all in TES universe. If your friend bails that's still alright for the price if you decide to go singleplayer mode, or get bored and come back in a year (like I did for the One Tamriel update).

I searched for a new MMO desperately for YEARS. I'm not exaggerating. I wanted to get into a MMORPG so bad, but the one I was playing was getting boring, it had shit story to me to the point I paid no attention, the players were all kid weeaboos, mobs and npcs were all just recolored versions of themselves...

I bought this off Steam on sale on impulse. I don't know why. All I know is I saw some good reviews, some videos, and bam. Started around this October

The first few tries, I was never happy - particularly with my characters. I kept remaking them until I found one I'm really happy with on my screen, and happy to be fighting with.

And let me just tell you, right now, even though at first I was bored to death, even though I came not knowing jack shit about ES, even though I was too confused, now I can't get off this game.

The story is fairly interesting (at least in Alderi Dominion), at times funny/downright kek worthy, the scenery is beautiful, the mobs are all different, there's a lot to do, lot to explore, lot to improve, lot to choose... I've been so drawn in that I barely notice I've leveled up.

So here's the thing, it's an awful game to me because I'm fucking hooked on it like skooma now. But yeah. Yanno.

To be fair, from a gameplay standpoint he's not wrong. Morrowind's gameplay does -not- age well. It wasn't even good for it's time. miss miss miss MISS MISS MISS

Morrowind's heavily carried by it's 10/10 writing, weird locale, and the sheer atmosphere they're able to craft - Sixth House bases spooked me the hell out, and I'd bet they still would if I went back.

It's definitely worth a look but I can't blame anyone for playing a more modern game once they're finished soaking up the lore.

Oh, I know why it failed, it's just really unintuitive the first time around and feels out of place on prior playthroughs because you swing, see your sword pass through someone and ... nothing happens. There was also really nothing to the melee combat - increasing skill just reduced the chance of RNG fucking you. It makes the skill valuable, sure, but in a way that doesn't line up with what you see happen in front of you and that is really boring.

My only real complaint is toggling on "always use strongest attack" was the best option in all situations rather than having certain attacks be more effective against certain enemies. I like the dice roll system because it makes more sense if your character that's been using spears all game picks up a dagger and performs like shit, or your melee-focused character can't land an illusion spell to save his life. I completely understand any gripes people have with it though. The lack of feedback on why misses or failures are happening is real when it's new to you but I do think as a whole it's a more immersive system than what other TES games present.

There's way better ways of handling that than "lel you missed" though. Even Skyrim manages that better - you're not actively crippled for using a dagger when your skill is in swinging a warhammer, but you don't have all the perks that make that weapon so dangerous in your hands. That's still not -great-, but it's better, ideally ranking up weapon skills would unlock new attacks you could do with it rather than +20 damage or +25% chance to behead someone.

Which is what I like about ESO's combat. The basic attack/block/dodge stuff is really well done and then you have extra attacks on top of that you get from being good at swords or bows or at firing lasers from your palms.

I love the more complex ones, especial Molag Kena, but that's assuming the rest of your team know what they're doing. Dranos would be great if the statue in the middle didn't cause such an annoyance towards the end of the boss.

The Cursed One and the Architect in Vault of Madness are great because they have mechanics most people don't know or think about; the Cursed One actual requiring people to not attack it and the Architects deathzone being dependant on if the flames are lit or not.

Tree-Minder Ka-Nesh is amazing with her summoning all the previous bosses while adding a "oh shit I wouldn't be surprised if that was how the Hist and the Argonians invaded Oblivion" moment, but she's horrible when playing with pugs due to the lack of communication.

I would love if we had a dungeon where you simply fight the same boss but with added mechanics as you go along, in a cliché "this isn't even my final form" fashion.

Yes.
Faction only matters in PvP. The whole overworld is also scaled in the same way dungeons were. It used to be that if you're level 30 that the dungeon got scaled to cp160. Not everything is scaled to cp160, including you.

So all level restrictions are gone. You can go anywhere you want right from the start and don't have to go to one zone and level trough it just to access your favourite zone.

You also don't have to finish the mainquest to travel to other zones, you can just take a boat to them.

It's almost never wrong to kill the adds in any scenario, if you ignore mechanics it just makes fights harder. Sometimes you have enough dps, sometimes you don't.

So I finally hit 50 yesterday and then grinded to CP 85 because I like video games. Noticed that my stats are dropping at a fast pace, mainly my max HP, I used to be around 16k and now I'm barely reaching 10k. My Equipment bonus is at 4 stars so I'm keeping my gear updated, not using any HP gear but I never did so that shouldn't be an issue, I think.
