Each character plays slightly different, you need to get an intricate knowledge of stage layout and focus on positioning yourself smartly during each step to use your shiki more efficiently and with less danger. Knowing when you use shot instead of shiki to farm coins is important. The very first thing to learn is trying to get 1000 coins by the mid of stage 1 which is achieved by smart positioning and cancels, then you can get much more from the flocking bats etc. Get ready to be supremely annoyed by cat spider and for that i would recommend starting with the 3 cycle plan ie dodging 2 bombing the 3rd and forcing him to the final cycle.

It will take a long time but stick with it and yes for a time the game will frustrate you massively which is mainly down to becoming more competent with the concept of controlling 2 things at once, it's a multi tasking masterpiece. Keep me updated on progress and ask any questions, the more specific they're the more I can help. Gensuke btw has a piercing shot unlike the others this is utilizable in afew particular areas namely the final stretch of 3, parts of 4, mid 2 and the rooftop ambush mid 5, look to keep your skull meter above half way then use shot for gainz. Another tip is stage 1/2 with gensuke and i guess milking cat spider can be a little more awkward due to his shot frequency being lower than the others but with more power however his shiki moves faster than others and covers a mid sized stretch. Final thing if you get to stuck i'l make an inp for you showing a stage 1/2/3 route etc.

You mean of Deathsmiles 1's endings? All four of the angels' staying endings are the canon ones, since they're all still around two months later. Sakura's canon ending seems to be a mix of her staying ending and secret ending. She befriends the angels and I assume her mother's illness was cured since she appears out and about in some of the Deathsmiles 2 endings.

I think what makes the game so difficult is, that it is really meant to be played for score, while still being a CAVE style game. This means, that when you don't play for score (and dodge without dodging), you will have dodge, but the ship speeds (constant mix between super fast and super slow) and bullet patterns are not like in Cave, and often not really meant to be dodged through.

That's why you easily make stupid mistakes in the game I think.

I'd recommend it to a beginner nonetheless, but only if you are sure that he is of the autismal variety that specifically enjoys things like Tetris TGM and would enjoy Treasure shmups, and also probably isn't into girly shit. Basically if he sees 'shooting' as the selling point of a shooting game and has the intelligence to delve into the puzzle aspect.

If nothing else CCWI at least exposes the player the 'right' mentality of scoring, as everything in the gameplay seems to suggest optimisation and thoughtful routing, much unlike Touhou which was made for survival clears first, which 95% of people do.

Hmm well for starters, finishing the game with all five lives in stock will grant like 30m points alone, so being able to do that will make things significantly easier.

Learning the Volcano recharge can really help, you should be able to get ~40m points from that alone, or maybe about 20m without it. So be sure you're using power up to milk points from the rock spawns in Volcano. With Rosa, her laser shot is extremely powerful, so while you're in power up mode, you're gonna want to position her familiar so that its big shots hit the enemy but Rosa's laser doesn't. That way, you can milk more point items out of enemies before they explode. Remember to let point items break up while you're in power up mode before you collect them.

That's one way to go about it. What I like to do is to start the Tyrannosatan fight with 4 or 5 lives, spam bombs at the very start, and then suicide to refill the bomb stock before collecting Jitterbug's cake to fill the lives back up to full as well. Just let Jitterbug's cake float around on its own, avoid collecting it until after you suicide.

And yeah, I think every life you have left over upon clearing is worth like 6m points each.
