This anime has some really fucking strange pacing. The "Applidrive" and "app fusion" transition lasted like 4 whole minutes easy, the fight was done in like 2 attacks, and the mon of the week only got like a minute and a half of screentime. Dokamon and Eri are also much too soft.

Honestly yeah. Eri was pretty nice even though her idol personality is kind of over the top. Though the bond between her and Dokamon was cute plus the method in which she inserts commands to Dokamon was cool as hell. Overall I can't wait for the next episode where she can do her own fight.

Is it weird I think App Link is hands down my favorite evolution gimmick?
It's basically a more streamlined Card Slash that's also the means of reaching higher forms, and judging by the data-mined God evolutions it will remain relevant to the end.
There's also the fusion aspect, which appeals to me personally as a trope, but more importantly it allows the viewer to keep track of which chips have been collected so they don't come out of nowhere.

I don't think so. Xros Wars only developed it's digimon characters in the sense that it gave them a independent background. Two digimon, shoutmon and baalmon, perhaps got a little more than that by getting a very special episode at the end of which they come out different.

The rest (dorulomon, ballistamon, deckerdramon,etc.) had at best focus episodes where they got the starring role, a bit like what adventure did for the chosen children, but in those episodes they come out of it as they entered, except we the viewers know more about them.

That we consider them as possibly better characters than the human cast just shows how they failed at giving meaning to them; taiki leaves as perfect as he entered, kiriha changes for the better after flip flopping all over the place without reason, nene joins the likes of akari and zenjirou in just being there after the conflict that made her into the antagonist is resolved.

I don't really have any problem with Taiki. In fact, I liked how for a change we got a cool headed main that didn't have any inner demon to deal with or a cripping flaw like being too whiny or reckless or selfish or hotblooded to a fault.

As for Kiriha, the only thing I didn't like about him was how in the gravimon episode he randomly decided to pull a yamato despite he already mellowed out and calmed down through the show. Other than that, he had a reasonable change through the show.

And Nene simply was overshadowed by the plot focusing in Taiki and Shoutmon in the last part of the story, although I admit it would've been much better if she were the one to deal with Yuu to give a better closure to her sideplot.

Only including Agnimon to Susanoomon was such bullshit. They could at least have done Agnimon>Vritramon>Kaisergreymon and Wolfmon>Garmmon>Magnagarurumon and skip the hybrids. The fact we only got a child and adult for the Xros Wars Digimon was BS too because you barely used adults in that game anyways so you'd only really see Shoutmon and Gumdramon a lot. So i've been trying those bootleg digimon games for android, and this time i tried a game called digipet x.

It's a bit based on the first digimon story's farm system, and while not very intuitive at first it's fairly straightforward once you get the hang of it. You can also pick up and leave the game running to farm for more items/money with no problems so it's not as demanding as an actual vpet.
You don't have that many digimon available (around 80, with all levels included), although the ones you do have some variety to them. The biggest problem is that the biggest fun to the game is completing the battle stages, once you do the game shifts into a grindfest with the colosseum battles, and that's before you can reach ultimate/mega. Raising a different digimon just means you'll redo everything all over again, same battles and everything.

So nice if you take it slow, but ultimately pretty limited.

I really liked how widget monster put the vpet screen as widget, so you could take care of it without opening any menu. A mix of that and unlimited (with pedulumon shakes in the battle system) would have been the best so far. Unlimited would have been the best for me if I could get the QR code reader working, but without it is like always heading into a dead end so as it stands this digipet x is the best i've tried so far since you can actually customize some of your digimons attacks and stat destribution. And having to open a Vpet window in unlimited is REALLY limiting.
