They brought down the activation rate of counter a lot. It used to always happen and I think it was dropped to around 25%, allegedly.

There's a damage cap on DW2003 which means you can never hit more than 9,999, a definite indirect nerf to counter which hits like a truck.

Sorry for not having more info. I owned the NTSC version and have only played DW2003 on an emulator. I don't have the save file on me to verify anything about 2003.

If what some guys told me before is true, making 3D models is easier than making HD sprites, so there's no reason why they couldn't add more digimon and tone down the amount of recolors, that shit would fly on the older games when they dealt with a low amount of space in the physical storage, but not nowadays, specially taking into consideration CS was a fairly small game size wise, being just a 1.34 GB game

Who told you making models is easier than sprites? If you're making something from scratch you have to not only make the model itself but also get all the necessary animations for it working right and what have you in addition to coding in all the stats/necessary moves.

Tagiru and gumdramon were the point of view characters, so it was obvious they were going to get the spotlight but in no moment either Taiki or Yuu jobbed to make him look good, they were either unavailable or arresterdramon simply got the killer blow the times either of them was along Tagiru and he got the mon of the week.

It was unacceptable in the DW days. There was plenty of storage for Digimon so the recolors looked really trashy. If they didn't want to make legit Digimon they could've just removed the recolors from the game entirely so at least everything felt unique.

Even the best gamers in the world wouldn't beat the game in under an hour from a fresh playthrough if they weren't instructed how.

Obviously the game is easy if you're told exactly and specifically what to do. It's not like there are many inputs. If a chess grandmaster told me how to play chess when I had never played I'd probably be pretty good too. But 90% of the game is wandering around figuring out what to do next and 10% standing around and training.

The point about it being obtuse is correct, but it's also a fundamental design element that makes it what it is. If it told you clearly the conditions for everything to happen, it would lose its sense of adventure and mystique. You shouldn't necessarily know what happiness and discipline do because if you did, it would ruin the point of their existence.
