Ever since i saw the Civ 6 trailer and i thought it was another facebook/table game so i've completely ignored it.

So my question is, is it better than civ V? dont give me that overused "it needs 5 years of expansions then it will be good!" as they do this with every civ it seems now.

I guess my my real issue is, has it been dumbed down?

nah not really, maybe don't do it at the start. but the way i see stone and other bonus resources that provide hammers is that its there to help rush wonders when needed. its not really worth anything if your citizens can't work it anyways or if you can put a district over it that would give good adjacency bonuses.

EVERY Civ from I-VI has had 4/7 at launch - the Colossus of Rhodes, the Great Lighthouse of Alexandria, the Great Pyramid of Giza, and the Hanging Gardens of Rhodes.

Civ III Conquests (the second expansion) was the first to add the Mausoleum of Mausollos. the Statue of Zeus, and the Temple of Artemis.

Civ IV Warlords added the Temple of Artemis, and Civ IV Beyond the Sword added the Mausoleum of Maussollos and the Statue of Zeus.

Civ V added the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus (it's the same wonder- it was constructed for Maussollos), the Statue of Zeus, and the Temple of Artemis in the Wonders of the Ancient World DLC pack.

Those three have never been in a base game.

War weariness goes up from losing battles "nearby", pillaging, and attacks on the city centre.
Occupied cities get an automatic amount maybe.
In a defensive war in which I steam-rolled to enemy I had literally 0 WW in my cities and about -7 in theirs.
It goes down very slowly or not at all during war and goes down quite slowly in peace.

That's about as much as I've managed to figure out.

I really am not enjoying districts system in Civ 6. Why are they so damn slow to construct. No matter what I do, it seems like they always take 14-24 turns as a minimum.

Why can't I just instantly zone a district and then have to deal with build times for the individual projects in it? Which actually would make sense, rather than hit me with these extra wastes of time.

Literally this is THE biggest thing that has killed my hype for this game, with probably housing being the next complaint (although that is fairly minor and kinda part of the reason I dislike the district system).

Exactly, but that is how everything in this game is. Everything scales up. You can never push production high enough to beat the pace of the scale. Which is basically why the districts feels so bad to use and was my big complaint.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind districts themselves being in the game. In fact, I like how it makes the cities look larger and more spread out. However, I find myself constantly having to babysit my city having to spend eternities building various districts when I could have been building structures to put in them or units to defend them.

> HUGE: There is simply too much good territory to settle cities in Rising Tide... I know I don't stand alone in saying that I want to be in border conflict with AI far more often.

Yeah, this is my big annoyance and I did exactly as he suggests on my own - modded it so you have all 12 factions on Small / Dwarf. Default BERT is just wide open spaces, all over, all the time; you never have border wars with the AI because even if your borders touch at all its' over shit no-resource desert or something.

> As a completely random element to the game, it seems absurd to me (and to many people) that the bonuses you can get from Artifacts far exceed those you can get from Wonders. This is as much a problem with Artifacts being overpowered as it does with Wonders being bad, but let's just focus on Artifact balance here.

This one I disagree with; artifacts are wonderful. As with Stellaris anomalies, there's a bunch of cool ones to find that can drastically help you out; gives a sense of excitement and long-term utility to early-game exploration

I like to think of it as being contextual.
Early game is when you're scrubbing around for minerals.
Midgame is when you're scrubbing around for energy.
Lategame is when you're post-scarcity. Although I don't think that actually happens any more because retooled ship upkeep costs and a 9999 cap mean you never get to post-scarcity because your fleet is an insatiable beast.

I am also no locked in tundra, got plenty of places elsewhere to go too. So Anmities, food, or housing? Was gonna go with Cathedrals in the next slot.

Are districts mandatory improvements for all cities? Eg: I shoud build a campus in every city even if I don't have any adjacent mountain or rainforest?
Or are they just specialization for a particular city (science city - campus, cultural city - theatre, etc...)

It's been a long time since Stellaris came out. When it first came out, I ran an overnight session of twenty competing player-made empires and posted the results. I feel like with 1.3 out, now's a good time to do it again with a smaller number.

How about ten?

All I need is for you to put your empire selection screens like the United Nations of Earth one I have in my image.

Optional details you can provide include:
>Species Plural
>Species Adjective
>Species Naming List
>Ruler Name
>Homeworld Name
>Star Name
>Empire Adjective
But those aren't necessarily. I'll randomly generate those if I have to.

Post your Stellaris empires if you want to get involved in this shitfest. I've got five so far.

Like almost all history before the greeks came in with Alexander. We only have 2 historical sources of good quality of that period: The Amarna archives and the Niniveh library. How are you spacing your cities?

Six tiles is actually a bad idea in this game. Since all nearby cities benefit from a district's "within X tiles" bonuses, four or five tiles is better. Chain your industrial zones and build in more rigid patterns.

Then EVERYTHING builds faster, not just districts.

Or just play Monty.

If you want me to correct myself I'll simply say that I was saying Abraham as if I said "the hebrew people". There are a lot of inconsistencies out there that doesn't make clear all the shit that happened in the path but my point when writing that post was showing the logic behind Sumeria defaulting to Jews in Civ 6
>>

I just played a game and ragequit less than 50 turns in. Why? Because one of the AIs apparently managed to spawn over 20 warriors and overrun my capital in that time. That was on Warlord difficulty. I want you to understand better, so here goes. In those less than 50 turns, the AI opponent did these things:

1. Founded his first city. (1 turn minimum)
2. Built a settler (5-10 turns) and founded a second city. (about 15 tiles away, so another 10 turns)
3. Built Holy Districts for both cities. (10 turns each)
4. Built several scouts and established relations with 2/3 of the city-states on my continent. (5 turns per scout)
5. Built 20 fucking warriors (5-10 turns each).

Even with the right civics, there is no fucking way he should have had all that shit. That is fucking impossible.

The AI in Civilization 6 fucking cheats. Do not buy that game. Don't even pirate it. Don't waste your time on this piece of garbage.

Strategic resources up until the modern era should only give a bonus to production of certain military units instead of being absolutely neccesary for building then.

There, fixed.

Fifty year update.

Two new empires have popped up, both of which are lizardmen for some reason.
Infested Worlds and Royal Eldar Territories both rely on hyperdrives and both have any hyper lanes that leave their space blocked. These two empires are doomed to eventual subjugation.
The Royal Eldar Territories have already been bullied by the Gun Runners, who snatched up a world.
As a defensive measure against further Gun Runner hostility, the Royal Eldar Territories got a defensive pack with the Galactic Soviet Union. In exchange, the Gun Runners got a defensive pact with the Memetic Order of Kek. Now a new war has broken out between these two factions.
The only other thing of note is that the Unending Dream hasn't expanded in close to thirty years. For some reason, it seems happy to be confined to its tiny spot of space, with four great powers slowly growing around it. Despite being wormhole-based, if it doesn't get its act together, it'll soon be cornered and gang-banged.

Also, Spear of Allah doesn't seem to have had First Contact yet.

Something everyone should know though: If you are building a district you should remove the woods on the tile with a worker first to boost production

Guys, what if you could stack up to 5 settler units in a single one and then get a 5 population city right up from the start when founding it and/or spend a settler unit to increase a city's population up to 5?

Would that help with the middle/late game impossibility to expand?

This is actually a really cool idea. They already have the UI in for producing armies, so they could just let you produce an "army" of settlers and start with some population.

Really though, late game cities aren't as bad as people say. They see that when the plop the city down it'll take 90 turns for something to complete, but if the spot is good it'll only take 10 turns for the city to grow, and the production might even be doubled by the new civilian, and 45 turns to complete something feels reasonable for end game cities which aren't boosted by industrial districts.

When you guys play civ6? Do you notice how the game tries to forse your hand, agan and again?

Trade routes? Must renew, make decisions. So what if you have long since made them.
Luxuries? Must trade, make diplomacy. So what if it makes no sense and forces you to deal with AI retardation.
Districts? Must rush, make production. So what if it makes no sense for civ's to focus so hard on industry all the fucking time.

My point is - Sid's obsession with controlling how player interacts with the game is actively harming it.

Different system now. Each city has it's local happiness. However, one unique luxury can "feed" 4 cities with pops 3 and 4, to have higher pops you need 2 unique luxuries.

But say you have 4 cities at pop 5 and 4 at pop 3

Having (let's say) two peppers and a diamond is good enough.

It's not hard since a city with two luxuries is basically +8 amenities. Moreover there's an entire district devoted to shitting out amenities. There's also a CS bonus (Buenos Aires) that basically turns bonus resources into mini luxuries, which is stupidly strong.

That's not global happiness, though. If one city is miserable it won't make all your cities miserable. Luxuries provide a pool of happiness that can be distributed as-needed across your empire, but one city being short won't cripple production everywhere.

stellaris question

is it possible for the scourge to just run out of soldiers? They have a shitload of ships and stuff sure, but they are only using it to siege a dozen planets and never land any troops on them to capture the planets

is this a bug?
>>
>>158902041
are they melee? the thing with the sea dogs is that they're ranged. i tried killing ships from a distance, tried killing them while adjacent, i even tried pillaging next to them and i can't capture ships. i can't find anything about it on google or the civ reddit either.
>>
>>158902185
In Civ 5 you could not trade for luxuries you already had.
In Civ 6 you can.
The logical assumption is that multiple copies therefore DO something, but apparently they don't and that's by design.
>>
>>158902176
its probably set up so multiple leaders can be in the game, but since those don't exist yet, this happened.
>>
>>158902297
>logical
>Civ 6 diplomacy
>>
>You have been denounced as a warmonger

>Took cities because they wouldn't make peace unless I was 1 turn from taking them
Yeah hmmm...that makes sense
>>
>>158902429

Actually, Greece has two possible leaders (Pericles and Gorgo). Regardless, it's fucking idiotic.

Thank you.
>>
>>158902460
>fight a war
>capture a city
>make peace
>they cede that city
>call you a warmonger
>its because you occupy one of there cities

why the fuck is that cede/return mechanic even here?

oh shit, that is retarded. has firaxis adressed any of the bullshit yet?
>>
>>158902283
Yeah, Eagle Warriors are the Aztec replacement for Warriors.

>>158902430
It's really more of a UI issue.
Not that the UI is much better than the diplomacy.
>>
>Literally taken 1 real life hour to move my units from my capital to the civ that declared war on me
this is really why warring is not something I even bother with it takes forever

its because you occupy one of their cities. its fucking retarded.
>>
How do I make my main religion city that same religion dominant again?

I told other civ's to fuck off and they mostly have but my religion hasn't transferred back
>>
>>158902724

No, they'd rather pay people to post on the internet about how anyone who points out the massive flaws in their 60 fucking dollars game is just bad at the game.
>>
>>158902845
Everything costs too long to produce and takes too long to move.
They need to nerf costs and buff roads.
>>
>>158901508
anyone have an answer to this?

I have them allowed for redevelopment but they never upgrade their shit
>>
>>158902460
Take the city and then return it in the peace deal for a bunch of cash and stuff. Returning a city refunds 100% of the warmonger penalty for taking it anyway.
>>
>>158902724
they won't until sales slow down.
>>
>>158902930
What's wrong with roads?

Also, is someone going to make a new civ4xg? This one is about to expire
>>
>>158903241
They do literally nothing on flat ground until the industrial era.
>>
>>158902930
>buff roads
Not roads, movement across the entire spectrum. Current movement speeds are archaism from when you could almost always move 2 tiles, now you rarely ever get that privelege. Just increase movement across the board by 1 or even 2 and we have far less problems with movement being a slog.

Fireaxis trying to make game play faster and faster while still trying to hold on to old systems is killing fun.
>>
>>158902601
Even better is when you enter a joint war with an AI. They still think you are a warmonger even though you are literally going to war together with them

You know not what you ask, fool.
>>
>>158902271
I just tag switched to them and they literally do not have any armies what so ever
checked the events and there's apparently no event to CREATE armies for them

so does this mean the scourge is finished? they cannot invade any planet anymore ever and are just stuck trying to bomb planets
>>
>>158902271
>scourge

Yes

they do. check barb camps

>This is retarded, why can I trade for luxuries I already have if they don't do anything?
definitely a bug/oversight

honestly, otherwise I actually like the system. Amenities are easy to calculate and it's a good way to keep you from putting 10+ cities in a really small location. You have to span out to get new/different luxuries

reminds me of in stellaris there used to be a bug that would enable an enemy to declare war on you then invite you to your own war against you
