Well, the main thing is that I don't think it's really accurate (or at least, it's missing some information) to say that White Mages "swapped to AST for farming".

The implication there is what WHM is the stronger of the two for progression, and AST only becomes better for farming, and I just don't think that's the case. I think that AST is markedly better for both, and the reason that WHM has seen a lot of early use in progression has more to do with comfort and familiarity than actual effectiveness - remember that AST was so marginalized in Midas that a lot of healers just didn't even bother to really learn to play it, and I think a lot of them decided that getting through progression with a suboptimal-but-familiar composition was probably going to be easier than doing it with an optimal-but-unfamiliar one.


That specific point aside though, you're not wrong. WHM is not, in absolute terms, any worse now than it was in 3.3, and all of the healing advantages it held over AST in the last tier are still present and are still just as potent.

It's mostly a semantic difference: One viewpoint is that you should look at the class design and balance in a vacuum, and consider how they would stack up if you went back and did ALL the content in the game, at an appropriate iLevel. The other viewpoint is that only class performance in the current content matters, because nothing else offers you any advancement/progression, and everything else is outleveled or outgeared so heavily that "How would Class X and Class Y compare if we went in there at the minimum iLevel?" is kind of an irrelevant question.

You can make a case for either viewpoint and you wouldn't be wrong, because "WHM still stacks up just fine against AST (if you imagine taking each of those classes into each raid tier at the starting iLevel" and "AST shits all over WHM (in the current tier of content)" are both true. You just can't sit there and call someone wrong because they take the other view.

If the new floors ramp up from 50 it will probably be a good time.

40-50 showed some signs of future difficulty, as if you were going to start having to be careful in the next set of floors.

Still though, I am really hoping the final 100 floors will legitimately put you on edge. We already have a massive consequence for wiping in PoTD, now we just need the threat of wiping.

Youre right, I shall remedy this.
So I see all the new abilities at 60 through PotD and redid my hotbar. Top is old hotbar setup.

I like it better now, its way easier to manage all the abilities though Im still not 10% used to it. I mostly have the rightmost menu hotbar as reminders but I might trim it a bit.

While I can see parts of the screen better than before Im thinking of lowering it one hotbar (the hidden hotbar just has PvP skills but I can put those in the current setup with a macro toggle when I bother to look how to make one) and Im not quite satisfied with the skill distibution.

Do you guys have different HUD layouts that you toggle between when youre in combat and just walking around the world or is it just not worth the hassle for you?
Could anyone that has a "centric" ability hotbar layout post theirs or give some tips on distribution?

That would work if Kobold territory extended beyond Vylbrand and into Carteneau or wherever Omega is supposed to be buried.
Then again they could have found Dalamud´s Aethernet that you use to enter the Coils or some underground Allagan aethernet that connects to where Omega is.
But I dont think their involment will extend beyond "On look there are Kobolds guarding the entrance to Omega´s Labyrinth and the first boss is a special Bomb Golem made by the 1st Order".

But if we see the 1st Order Id like to see the Sagahin Matriarc.
