Honestly I have 500 hours in ds3, about 2000 in ds1, 1000 in ds2, and 1500 in des and I use meme builds with shit weapons and win about 70%. Current build is pic related.

I just use it because I like how it looks. I got gold in duel and working towards gold in brawl now. I was the best in DS1 because it had the highest skill cap with all the bullshit you had to know.

the struggle. It had the PERFECT moveset in 2. The 2 handed strong attack with the wide sweep into the thrust was amazing. I would whiff the first r2 a few times, to bait them into getting hit by the thrust followup. The grace window between inputs was crazy long, you could r2, wait for like 2 full seconds, and r2 again for the thrust. It was godly.

Why are people shitting on this DLC so much while simultaneously praising the fuck out of AotA?

Sure, AotA had 4 bosses instead of 2, but the zones that connected to 2 of them were pretty much none existant, and the zones you had to progress through were garbage level design wise, except for Oolacile Township, which was a very short level.

The forest and the abyss bit just before Manus however were total poop. This DLC (Ashes of Ariandel) has the strongest level design in Dark Souls 3 to be honest.

I also don't really get the "It's too short" complaint. I made a new character for the DLC, entered at level 40, with a +6 weapon, had a decent challenge and it took me about 4 hours and 30 minutes to get to Elfriede/Ariandel while thoroughly exploring the path to them, except for that house with 2 of the Corvian Knights in it.

It's much better than people think. It does a lot of damage, its crits are insane, and you can combo R1 -> L1 or R1 -> R1 into L1 rollcatch. You will be seeing very high damage, at the expense of not having a shield out. If you really need a shield, you can use one, and play it like a shorter estoc turtle with good crits.

I don't get the too short complaint, but the level design was pretty mediocre lol. Def not the strongest in DS3, can't compare to Dungeon/Undead Settlement/High Wall and so on. This DLC was defined by either wide open space for hoard enemies to surround you or narrow paths for Millwood knights to body block you on.

I think the most impressive part was Shit bird town, and like Township it was extremely short and Township was a little bit better.

R1 R1 into the jump attack, or two R1s into the lunge weapon art will catch 95% of everyone you fight at least once for around 600-700 damage, which is generally about half health for most people

One of the other anons on this thread recommended both of the tearstone rings to me and I've been using them since. They pair EXTREMELY well with the valorheart, especially when you get low enough health for the rings to kick in

in my offhand I carry a canvas talisman for a quick medium heal for ~500ish health fairly quickly as well as tears of denial

Does anybody else have a roleplay for their character that isn't just a cosplay that they base their gameplay around?

My current character is a sort of "Slowly going mad" ex-cleric from Carim who's dabbling in the cults around Aldritch and Rosaria to gain forbidden knowledge and some twisted form of divine favor, as well as research into Carthus and their dabbling with the Abyss.

I'm running a bleed build with the Carthus shotel (I know the curved sword is better but MUH AESTHETIC) and off-hand I'm using miracles/pyromancies, but I'm trying to decide what's most consistent with him character wise. Should I just mix them up between Black Flame pyromancies (for Carthus) and Deep miracles (for his dabbling with the Cathedral), or should I stick to one or the other?

AoA has 1 Bloodborne rehash boss, and 1 NPC + Sif rehash boss.

AotA also introduced dark magic/black flame, which was a huge improvement for casters. AoA's new magic is all pretty lame.

Nobody really cares that much about zones.

I played Dark Souls 3 on the PC earlier this year when it was newer and I had some weird network glitch where I would very rarely get summoned/find signs. I was able to fix it by making a second steam account and family sharing the game, but then I changed it back when I got my fill of pvp to finish the game with achievements.

The Followers difficulty designed around fighting you in groups with a spear vanguard, flamethrower AOE and javelins in the back.
The fly pit is a massive fucking box for them to gap close grab you and move around in.

I recently got summoned into a Freide fight with the host and 2 other summons.

Gael joined in phase 2, and a 5 V 2 ensued.

Each phase took fucking forever because of how much health the boss had.

I have been playing the souls games since demons souls first came out with the PS3. I have probably used parried less than 100 times total in my close to 4k+ hours through out my time in all the games. I frankly don't see the appeal.

As an invader the only time I'll ever die is getting stunlocked by a host and 2 phantoms. I never 1on1, I'll always run away and shoot them with arrows from far away and generally be a cunt. 99% of the time it's just one torch dude roaming around, a javelin dude somewhere in the background and some other follower sitting somewhere pretending to be dead or whatever

You can easily wait out the patrol pull one on his own, kill him, run up to the sleeping dude and combo him to death and then take care of the javelin person.

Just because i don't sprint into fights like a retard doesn't mean i cheesed it. Dark Souls has no executional skill, the only skill you can apply is tactical skill. That's what i did, it worked out, and i beat the DLC at level 47

Put your game to offline mode and you drop rate drastically increases. I went from 1 every 50+ to 1 in 10.

Greatsword of judgment and immolation tinder are quality+int, so you can probably still get good damage out of them with 2/3 damage stats.
Other than that maybe grab a fast dex weapon (eg: sellswords, new claws) and slap CMW those if you have some ATT.

So with frost magic being a proper thing now, has anyone attempted a black mage build? I've tried playing an omnicaster but haven't actually found much use for lightning spells, of all things. Snap freeze seems a bit gimmicky too, but I haven't actually tried it yet. The most reliable magic seems to be pyromancy, as always.

There are basically three times you run into Followers in groups larger than two.
At the very start, where yeah you can probably take them two by two.
Then in the tree corridor cluster fuck, where they all aggro. Already your 99% garbage is broken.
Then finally in the last section, where the patrols are groups of three, there are sometimes groups of two sleeping like the flamers and javelins near the shield and spear dudes positioned on vantages to aggro people below.

I'm not sure how I can explain this clearly to you. It's in their fucking item description. They work as a team, their entire design is based on group aggression. It's the only way they manage to be a threat except for that one faggot they put on the root.
It's good group enemy design backed by lore.

I mean, cool that you spent a long ass time solid snaking that last section? Personally I just rushed the defenseless spear chuckers and flame throwers so I could kill the shields in peace, which isn't too retarded because I seemed to manage fine on NG++. I'm still not really clear how you fought the groups of 3-4 as 2, but whatever good job you did it bro.

All I got is people jumping down my throat for saying that wide open spaces are necessary level design necessary for the clearly intentional hoard enemies (followers, wolves, flies) to gang bang you as the devs blatantly intended.

It's probably someone at SL50 with +10 weapons you fought. I swear I've run into SL200+ going into the arena on my 120, like, you spend all day fighting pontif shitters so you know what your damage is usually within a region.
Sometimes you get matched with someone who takes chaos fireballs for 400 damage and take off all your health in 2 darksword swings.

I really think they just ported the Arena match making code from DaS1 over. Either be SL100 or SL200.
