Can I get some advice on this?

My plan is to use a Darkmoon ringswap for ToD and then use the flail WA buff to make SLS deal decent damage, alongside bountiful light.

If nobody else joins the fc in 10 minutes its over.

Is it worth it to raise faith to 30 for buffs if it's my first time through the game? I got bored with the lack of estus for recoving FP as a pyro and am starting over.
So far it's either tank to trade or else faith and minimum melee stats to buff

According to pic related, I need at least 44.85 for poise to be effective against greatswords.
Since greatswords are fotm and they both outrange and out-speed greataxes, having enough poise to trade into them is basically mandatory for this build to work, otherwise I face a major disadvantage against like 90% of the people I'll encounter. According to the mugen armour optimizer, this armor combination is the lowest possible weight that breaks 44.85, and thus 37 is the lowest possible vit I can hold this weapon and a casting tool and not fatroll while hitting that breakpoint.

The big changes were A:
Arena banning estus but allowing 5 ashen flasks. Casters have an indefinite and nearly inexhaustible;e pool of casting resources in a mandate no-healing environment.
Previously, people would drink estus in response to an ashen flask, which basically made casters unusable unless your opponent was charitable (99% aren't because of the nature of this game's community). Having 5 ashen flasks at no cost to effective HP or healing, and having enemy healing effectively restricted so there can be no response to an ashen flask beyond trying to punish it, means that casters effectively lose their primary weakness: resource management.

B: the inclusion of the new pyro flame, which effectively buffed the cast speed of Black Flame to the point where it compares to DaS1 speeds. Now suddenly pyros have a fast melee spell that breaks hyperarmour and does 600 raw damage. Seriously, it's fast. That little passive combustion from the flame comes out a good 10 frames before actual BF and staggers into it, which makes your BF cast effectively as fast as an axe while dealing more damage than an ultra.

So now casters have unlimited resources and at least 1 viable "stay the fuck away from me" spell while also fighting in an arena that offers effectively infinite kiting space.

Those are huge buffs.

Now cast it with the parting pyro flame

The parting flame passively releases a melee-range combustion with every spell you cast. On black flame, this combustion comes out well before the black flame itself, and staggers into it. It's effectively a substantial speed buff to black flame, try it for yourself. With the parting flame you can beat out lots of weapons in melee that the normal flame can't.

Parting flame's BF straightup beats out most weapons axe-speed or slower. It's especially important because it's fast enough now to spam out after another spellcast and shut down roll-ins, which normal black flame can't do against most weapons.

Halberds) there's a significant difference in performance between the best and the worst, but they all still fall roughly into the same tier so there's no point in distinguishing them. The tiers also roughly correspond to the skill level in which something becomes viable.
