How fucked am I and how game breaking is it ? I'm seriously gonna try more hauls to see if it says something else, I hope it does.

Not quite, I read it in plenty of places including Leddit and GameFAQs that even though the tables randomized for each play seshs on previous games, the code for 3U is special as in it locks you for the whole game. Special as in "down syndrome kid" special.
And to this day it's still a mystery why they didn't patch it up or at least give their explanations for it.

Small monster AI seemed to get much more aggressive and clever. It's really odd.

Coming out of MH4U which really does have a pathetic Low Rank and High Rank, Gen actually seems to be more difficult in that respect if you're not spamming Aerial and Adept every hunt. It's going to be interesting to see if the G rank hypers live up to the 140s in difficulty.

Demon's Isle has:

Is there something I'm missing about underwater combat? I'm going through MH3U with mainly a Hammer and recently had a bit more trouble than I thought I would have with a high rank Lagiacrus.

It also seems that when they aren't stationary, the underwater monsters just like to zip all over the goddamn place with charging attacks.

Underwater Lagia is even more of a turn-based fight than usual, so the best opportunity you'll have is when it turns around.
I'm gonna suppose you have the shakas with you. The aggro AI is pretty damn stupid, most of the time the monster will attack you, then the shakas, then back to you.When you know it's gonna attack the shakas, just dash towards them if they're a bit away from you.
I'm using GS and I have no issue.

I'm giving the Shakas a chance only considering some people hyped them to hell and back compared to Palicoes, and I suppose there's still use in them getting the occasional large monster parts which is actually quite nice. In the case of several weapons though AI partners are definitely shitty when it comes to needing the monster's attention.
