pyro flame can combo 1-2 Black Flames into WA and then R2 into WA if you have fists/pyro flame equipped

Don't roll forward at close range.
There's something buggy about its hit detection that fucks up dodges early in its projectile lifespan

Otherwise an extremely delayed forward roll (think lowADP DaS2 roll timings) or sprinting to one side and rolling to the other side as it curves

You can also dodge it entirely by sprinting because ti doesn't turn sharply enough to follow you at tight angles, but beware bad connections will ruin this. It's better to rely on iframes since the average connection you encounter won't be good.

Are your honor badges really tied to your losses as well? I was testing it out since I'm just starting arena and I got the first badge with 3 losses and 5 wins.

Can you go back to no badges?

Do losses only matter at every badge past the first one (can't go from iron to nothing, but can go from bronze to iron where iron is set as the new 0)?

Gonna load my backup and see if it eliminates my iron badge now to test. Also havels + swordspear is OP, I'm gonna get gold with this shit. Even better when people back off from the firebombs and long af spear giving me room to heal, it's great.

My point was that just because the guardians are guarding the painting doesn't mean they're Velka's. A jailer guards a prison, but this doesn't make them one of the prisoners. The painted world is full of god-killing weapons like Priscilla and her lifehunt skill, the Dark Ember, etc., the painting is inside a building in Anor Londo with nothing else there, guarded by a special order of knights specifically for the purpose of keeping intruders away from the painting. It's a fucking containment zone, is what it is.

Nowhere is it said the gods feared Velka. It's said they feared Priscilla, but that's it. And again, remember that both Caitha's Chime and the Darkmoon Talisman are extra-strong with dark, but this doesn't connect them to Londor. Caitha is one of the major Goddesses of Carim, and Gwyndolin is as opposed to the dark and Londor's shenanigans as it's possible to be. Velka's Rapier being dark wouldn't tie her to Londor any more than Caitha's/Darkmoon being dark ties them to Londor.

They're weak to counterhits. As in, attacking them while they're attacking puts them into a ripostable animation. Poise or just outspacing them is the way to win.

Don't regret buying the DLC just yet. Remember that painter girl still needs her paints from the second DLC, and you need the first one to have painter girl in the first place.

there's certain triggers that autosoftban you.

so for example, in 2, if you edited your soul memory, that was an instant softban.

in DaS3, turning poise on is an instaban. dont know what else is, but I know you get warned if your stats dont match your level.

Softban affects your whole account. your steam account in regards to that particular game, is redirected to a dedicated cheater server.

the only way around a softban is to make a new steam account and use family sharing to play the game on that account

In general, just having a finisher for low-HP players is a good idea. People always get passive when they're 1 hit from dead and RTSR+morion means that somebody can turn a single whiffpunish with a curved sword into 2/3 of your HP. There's no sense in using something slow and risky to land that finisher when you could just swap to something fast with strong rollcatching and whiffsafe pokes to pressure turbopassive Jund autists

Cut the bridge from opposite side and you're unreachable by the invader. Cat ring allows you to cheese many falls to escape. Most bonfires have a few signs if you feel the need to use. Corvian knights have huge AoEs to kill unembered people in 2 hits. Most invaders don't carry torch for seeded invaders. Etc.
Ariandel invasions are just as easy as a host. It's just that every single invasion I had at least one phantom had a mark of noob with shield of want or similar. You just have the illusion it's easier because you mostly find shit players

I've been running into a lot of peeve valorheart mainhand, javelin offhand builds in arena today. I don't get it personally, shields rape it to death. It's really easy to avoid the road guard block, and javelin throw does fuck-all against shields for some reason, just bounces right off. Arbalest is basically a better javelin, faster and probably even does more damage at range in all honesty. The roar meme is easy as fuck to just back away from or roll away from, and punish with a poke at range.

Ignore melee characters. You can run from them just like mages run from them. Just dickride the caster until he's dead, shuttong down his ability to cast all the while. When he dies, watch for the WoG of him spawning back in, run over and continue.

You'll win most brawls like this because mages are squishy and typically shit players, and chasing them will typically keep you far away from the rest of the action.

Serpent because it tracks so well it can pathfind up trees and do full 360s, and also the duration is long enough to where your opponent needs to roll at least twice to avoid it. The damage is low, but getting hit by serpent means they get hit by vestiges immediately after.

Fire surge is good because it's unpunishable and out-ranges most weapons.

I stalked this Host and his butt buddy phantom through Irithyll Dungeon for at least 15 minutes watching as the phantom killed literally EVERYTHING for the host, while the host just sat back with his shield raised against nothing, looking behind him, probably for me. The phantom just went forward and shot things to death with his bow, like he did the giant after shooting for 3 minutes instead of actually trying to fight it. The host sat back in the rat room as his phantom killed the room full of Jailers. I finally made my move once they reached the Gargoyle, because I knew that they wouldnt have a way to reliably cheese it without risking falling off. EVEN THEN the Host just ran ahead while the phantom distracted the Gargoyle and tried to make it fall off an edge. He spots me, and we end up in a standoff where hes trying to kill the gargoyle 80 damage at a time, whereas I just shoot him twice with a greatbow and he dies because he was out of estus at that point.
I finally reach the host, who is literally just using knight armor and the default longsword with a Shield of Want? Surely I cant lose, right? WRONG! Greatlance sucks ass and I lose more stamina than he does as he whacks against my greatshield, constantly pressuring me because I cant even trade into him because the weapon is just too slow while not even doing more damage. This guy probably got carried his entire playthrough by his phantom, AND I STILL LOST! Thought I had great spacing, but nope, he could just spam away and inevitably hit me. This weapon really, really, really needs poise of any kind.
Im not really sure what to be more mad at. This weapon, longswords, me turning into a chair 4 times instead of a head trying to hide at the giant spot, me losing to THE pinnacle of noob stereotypes, or Miyazaki for letting this happen.

Pyro. Knight at best could be as-good as a pyro if you need the vitality, but pyro has minimal luck and vit, with no excess strength or dex. The only way I could imagine knight actually being better is if you genuinely only wanted one attunement slot plus all that vitality, but with all that int and fai you'll probably be able to benefit from having at least two slots, if not a full arsenal.
