The server could just be sub-divided into shards though, it'd be functionally identical to the way WoW currently plays except that you'd never be on an 'empty' server because the number of shards could scale dynamically for the current population logged in and you wouldn't be limited in which guilds you can join.

I always thought, no, of course not, they can just keep adding to WoW with expansions, but it seems to me they are getting ready to tie this storyline up here in the next few years and possibly have a whole new game on a different planet.

I mean, they can't just keep adding expansions forever, and this engine is fucked. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not people would be interested. This way they could add a ton more classes and races without bloating the original WoW. They gotta tie that up neatly and nicely pretty soon right? idk. Would be cool as fuck to have a new planet and shit.

I guess a huge problem would be people bitching that certain races/classes didn't make it to WoW2.

Just make Starsurge cost less baseline and downgrade the effect of emerald dreamcatcher to compensate and it wouldn't be so bad. ED reduces astral cost by 10, stacking 2 times. For example, just make Starsurge cost 30 and reduce the effect of dream catcher down to 5, stacking 2 times. It'd be the same 20 ap cost in the end but the gap between ED and non-ED won't be so big.

I dont see why they would, WoW is a long time away from dieing, and if they updated the engine to be a casual, less korean black desert online with the same gearing and pvp system as WoW, they could extend their lead in the market to near where they once were.
They could just end this story, and start a new one that allows for new zones and new races.
All this being said, WoW as it currently stands could easily live for 5-7 years, 10+ is where i think it's age will become too big of a problem

The new play-style isn't that difficult though, and does massive damage (minus the small ramp up)

In dungeons I run MP/subterfuge instead of EP/nightstalker so that when the tank pulls the trash I can garrote three mobs and then fan until I get my poisons ticking on everything in order to proc the venemous passive. With venom rush, that means your energy generation skyrockets because you're getting back 10 energy every tick from every bleed you have active on every target, and you can just keep spamming knives and rupture to keep the damage rolling.

Also, I use deadly poisons on trash for the burst damage from reapplying them constantly, and swap to agonizing on bosses for single target sustain. I've never been in a group that I haven't done top DPS and damage overall unless there's a geared up fire mage or windwalker monk in the group. Especially in mythics where the mobs live a little bit longer so my ramp up time has less of an impact on my performance.
