I've got outlines running pretty deep here, so my problem's likely something else then. Even knowing exactly what needs to happen in a scene, getting the words together satisfactorily takes much longer than I know it should.

The argument that a game could have been cheaper or had another route instead is often made whenever there's a route in a game that a user doesn't want, but it's often not quite right (I want to say 'false economy' but I'm not sure that's the right phrase.) Unless your game is being written completely as a result of focus groups, with no real story and just a bunch of unconnected character routes that the writer doesn't give a shit about, it's not likely that one route can simply be substituted for another.

And considering how this game turned out, it's pretty obvious that the guy and his relations with the cast were integral to the writer's idea of the (terrible) story.
