I guess. Whenever I take a closeup look at a cat they seem somewhat smaller than before. Maybe people just aren't putting the meter at 100. But I can't shake the feeling that a cat in their default outfit was a bit larger and bouncier before. Same with midlanders. I'm probably just remembering wrong.

I don't think so unfortunately. There is the boat near the Arcanist's guild that gives a ferry to Vesper Bay in West Thanalan, and from there could chocobo all the way to the Shroud areas. However, I can't recall if that ferry is restricted by level or by quests; it's one of the two, I think?

Because hinting at and alluding to it is often more fun than going through with it. And when you do go through with it, it's much more enjoyable.

Same with roleplaying more than ERPing. Getting good character dynamic going makes the ERP more enjoyable if it does happen, because you know their dynamic and know what's "at stake".

Same concept as why some action movies are received better than others: Nonstop action cheapens the action scenes. You need some down-time.

The one I want in particular (Koenbryda, femroe GLD) only comes from dungeon challenges, which there are only two of, so once you've gotten bad luck on those the only option is the Gold Saucer since you can get any recruit from it. Bunny Chief set is nice, I just wish I could wear my glasses with the ears.

It's because the time-gated gear is objectively superior in every way due to the ability to overmeld it. HQ crafted Ironworks gear can reach stats that far exceed the i200 Crafter AF sets, and I don't even think you can reach 4* stats with i200 Crafter AF without at least mixing in some IW.

That's what I've been using. Gold Saucer acts as a wild card that can yield any recruit regardless of required reason for enlistment, and some are Gold Saucer exclusive, mostly the ones in goofy outfits that don't change with level.

Considering the cost of overmelding, it only makes sense that Ironworks is the better of the two sets, but I feel like they should have made Augmented gear better in comparison to Ironworks than the i180 scrip gear was when you compared it to the i170 crafted sets.

You're already:
- time gated
- class locked
- unable to do any melds, including the 1-2 100% slots

It doesn't need to be vastly inferior in stats on top of that.

Spent 15m on crafting/buying full ironworks and melding, swapped specialist to Blacksmith and Woodworker to make the majority of the mainhand/offhands, gathered a majority of the materials myself, crafted mainhands/offhands for a majority of 3.3 and made back 30m, and made 30m in the first week of 3.4.

Compare this to not bothering with crafting at all in 3.0, and only getting red scrip gear. I made 15m over the course of 3.0-3.3, with the majority of the money made with gatherers with aethersands and blood peppers / airship exploratory missions giving Grade 5 Materia.

The oppurtunity cost to craft is only worth paying in the first few weeks of a patch. Considering that, it makes 0 sense to me why the Red Scrip gear is such garbage.

If they're going to have a robust crafting system, they should care more about designing gear for it.

You can do current-tier crafting with a full set of i200 scrip gear. You just have to use Heavensegg Soup (or Beet Soup and a 5 Craftsmanship FC buff or literally any single crafted piece with 3 extra Craftsmanship on it) and you have to be a good enough crafter to craft with 390 CP instead of 435 or whatever it is that you need to do meme rotation crafting.

Not saying that scrip gear is actually worth it but it's perfectly usable if you actually did bother to get a full set.

Well, you see, the thing is that the Script system is a horribly failed attempt at forcing Crafters to deal with the same weekly caps as combat classes deal with.
Thankfully, SE has been quietly working to completely sweep the Scrip system under the rug - the 4* recipes being included in the Mastercraft IV book instead of a Mastercraft V book is evidence of this, as are the 3.5* recipes, which required zero Scrip materials.

How do you deal with embarassement and anxiety? a pretty big point against how shitty the Scrip system is. It's how it's been from the beginning of Heavensward, actually. You only ever used the Scrip gear to get your foot into the door for the actual end-game crafting. Anything more than that, and you were just wasting your time.
The fact that it's all class-locked is also pretty terrible, even if it does mean we get such stylish coats as the Boltmaster's Dreadnought. At the very least, the Scrip tools themselves are worthy stand-ins for the crafted versions, the main-hands especially.

No red scrip clothes, but -maybe- accessories that can be melded, but lower the material scarcity of the leftside, and make the price for entry be based on melding.

I think it's enough of a disadvantage for red scrip gear to be locked to a specific class AND locked to a weekly-capped currency, that you don't need it to actually be significantly worse at crafting once you have it.

Or if it's a situation where the crafted gear is also class-locked (like the i170 sets were), then they should make the scrip gear significantly worse, and have it attached to a weekly-capped currency, but make the set be an omnicrafting set.

Basically, two out of three disadvantages would be fine, out of "Class-locked/Omnicrafter", "Weekly-capped/Crafted-and-tradable", and "Bad-stats/Good-stats". But all three just makes the gear too shitty to be worthwhile.
