I use the Moonlight game streaming app to play PC games around the house with my phone and a clip on controller but while it's possible to use a data connection or external wifi to play games remotely (outside of your network), it's not a good experience. Way too much latency.

You can't even get an optimal situation on your own network without a 5ghz wifi signal. It's the same story with the Shield since Moonlight just makes your phone look like a Shield to the Nvidia streaming software.

The Switch will play games natively on the tablet thing so it's the optimal solution for playing mobile. It'd be interesting if we saw Skyrim ported to android, actually. Some of the newer devices could probably handle it in some capacity.

Another thing that's cool about Gortwog is how he came to possess Orsinium in the first place.
The year is 3E 399, and there is no Orsinium, and no Cursed Legion to uphold the independence of the Orsimer. However, Gortwog gro-Nagorm, chieftain of the Minat Orcs, wants to rebuild the city in the location of the very first Orsinium. Not only does he want to become King of the Orcs, he also wants to rebuild rather than build anew.
Now, this was easier said than done, as the land had passed to a Breton lord, who had some claim to the area. So, how did Gortwog the Orc Chieftain take back his land? Not by invasion or force of arms.

He produced the adequate documentation of ownership and mounted a legal claim that went all the way to the Elder Council.

The Elder Council sent a judge to look at the law and the claims, and it was decided that the legal way to solve it was a duel. But the interesting thing here is that it doesn't appear that Gortwog actually knew that. It appears he really just tried to sue the Breton to get his land back. Though naturally a duel was very much in his favour.

Oh absolutely, Gortwog took full advantage of the situation when it appeared to him. But I don't think he knew in advance, since he basically asks the judge "What now?" once he hears that there's a duel. If he had read up on law beforehand, he'd know how a duel would work. So either he didn't know, or he just decided to play the "dumb Orc" and pretend he didn't know what he was doing.

I mean, Gortwog and Tunner, the Breton lord's trainer, even arrange for them to fight at the time the Breton is going to be at his peak. He would have lost anyway, but the Orcs wouldn't want to win back their kingdom without some sort of fight.

If it had been magic-only, then probably. I doubt Gortwog can cast a single spell., and the Breton lord probably knew a spell or two.
But I think there's still a good chance Gortwog would have won if magic and normal combat had both been allowed. The Breton didn't seem like much of a fighter, and being born with a tendency towards magic isn't the same as actually being a good mage.

Heard some friends had some success using MO installed in a different directory for Oblivion, but haven't taken a stab at it myself yet.

There are Orsimer everywhere.
They commonly serve in the Imperial Legion, and thus end up stationed all over Tamriel, some of then retiring in towns and cities all over Tamriel. Likewise both males and females who are ousted out of strongholds or leave willingly often end up scattered around the world.
Their connection to the Legion really seems quite strong. When an alliance of Redguards and Bretons ousted the Orsimer from Nova Orsinium in the Wrothgarian Mountains, the Legion aided survivors, helping many of them into Skyrim and the Eastern Reach.

But their traditional homeland is in Hammerfell and High Rock, especially the Dragontail Mountains and the Wrothgarian Mountains. There's also supposed to be a separate(?) population of Orsimer in Valenwood, of which little is known.
Orsimer outside of traditional or majority-Orsimer areas tend to live like the normal population of their chosen residence, which makes them quite different from the Orsimer found in traditional settlements.

There's two kind of permanent Orismeri settelments. The first is strongholds, which represents the traditionalist side of Orismer society. These settlements are like the ones you see in Skyrim, though I would be there's significant regional differences. Life in a stronghold is tribal and independent (though the strongholds around Orsinium are likely bound to it).

Then there's Orsinium, which is the wandering and eternal kingdom of the Orcs. Orsinium is always the only proper city ruled by Orsimer, and it is rather different from living in a stronghold. Orsinium is a kingdom proper, and is more metropolitan and sophisticated than regional strongholds. The differences between Orsinium and stronghold traditionalism can grow quite large. For example, the great king Gortwog introduced the belief that Malacath is just a demon whose goal is to forever keep the Orsimer an outcast folk, which Gortwog saw as wrong. He therefor (re)established the worship of Trinimac, believing him to be separate from Malacath. At the time of Gortwog's brilliant rule, the majority of Orsinium's citizens worshipped Trinimac and rejected their role as outcasts, while traditionalist strongholds still worship Malacath.
It's possible that this religious awakening and racial re-defining that was going on in Orsinium is one of the reasons that Gortwog's Orsinium was judged dangerous and destroyed. It is not known today if the new Orsinium also prefers to worship Trinimac. But I'd guess there's more Orsimer Trinimac worshippers across Tamriel now, decendants of those who fled Gortwog's Orsinium.

I'm doing a fresh install after having gotten 30+ mods working my first time around, but not feeling comfortable that everything was working as intended.

My plan is to start with mods that are more important to me up and running first. Before I was going with the order mods are laid out in tesgeneral.

So I'll start with essential mods.
Then alternate start to make staring a new game to check mods easier.
Then I'll make sure that cosmetic mods are working.
Then finally into mods that rebalance/alter the gameplay.

Unless, this isn't recommended for some reason.

What does /tesg/ consider the best beauty mods? Looking for things that enhance the appearance of NPCs without straying into supermodel/anime territory. All of the mods I've looked at so far don't really fit the medieval Scandinavian setting. Hair mods seem to be especially lacking in that department for some reason.

Oh, sorry I missed your question anon. In truth, its hard to say. Beyond Reach adds its own worldspace, seperate from Skyrim. Well unless you install the Tweak mod that adds an actual crossable border. I don't see Beyond Reach making your game anymore unstable than it already is. The only place were Beyond Reachs stability should be an issue is, well in Beyond Reach.

Why does my skyrim game keep force closing ? after idk 5 minutes or so it just force closes with no notification why.

I just got skyrim and I'm trying to install sexlab. I used NMM to install FNIS and MO for sexlab. I downloaded SexLabFrameWork v162 Full and then I went to update FNIS Behavior but I don't see "Reading SexLab ..." anywhere. I downloaded the other sexlab requirements also on NMM and they are checked.

UI has changed so SkyUI might be broken. Weapon and armor mods will work but you need to repack them in CK if they use BSAs. Any mod that uses esps needs to be loaded and saved in CK again.

Nude textures and meshes will work but not HDT.

With just the ENB, and SRLE guide followed 100% (save using this ENB instead of Vividian ENB) I got around 45-60fps everywhere with a Radeon r9 280x and i5 4690k.

However, at the moment I have over 500 mods installed, getting like 40fps with stuttering, but I have it built for the 1070 I'm getting this December, so I plan on getting 60fps (the_natural_tes on twitch has that same card and gets 60fps everywhere with 600 mods installed, same ENB and processor)

Why do so many people get shit on for attention whoring and circlejerking while Clones, who does exactly the same and sometimes to a much more obnoxious degree, gets a free pass?

I'm trying. Like I said Wheels of Lull has a creature mesh issue. It uses Vicn's creature resources, which don't work with the SE because he made them with the worst possible settings.

I'm a relative outsider to /tesg/, I have lurked for a long time but only recently started trying to post more.

I've noticed a number of people have the mindset that they're here to post screenshots, whatever they may be, talk about anything relating to Skyrim, and generally just enjoy a small peaceful skyrim-related community to help make a game that feels like it should have multiplayer feel less lonely.

There are people who either show up for a small amount of time, or come in waves, even a few that are here most of the time, that care more about the drama and more community focused discussions than Skyrim focused discussions. While there are less of these people, they are much louder and typically post more often when they post at all.

People that just post their screenshots, and general comments, regardless of how often, typically go unnoticed because that's what this general was made for. It doesn't matter if they're old screenshots, or similar to others or whatever, especially if very few other screenshots are being posted.

Yeah, this is the problem. I'm on Win10 because of a long, convoluted story including work. Strongly considering just making a partition for W7 or something. How much a difference would those extra 4gb do, do you reckon? I'll wager a lot on account of all the texture mods I use but I'm no expert

You have to select female nord.

See where it says "FemaleHeadNord"? That means it requires the base to be female and Nord.

Some presets are made for Breton males, or Orc Females, or whatever. Most are made for nord females however

Unless you want 4K textures on literally everything for some reason, you're never going to make use of the full 8 gigs of VRAM in a game like Skyrim.

It really depends on what texture mods you install.

If you're installing ANYTHING 4k you 100% need 8GB

If you're installing mostly 2k-1k or 1k textures, you should be fine.

If you install 100% 2K textures, which most mods have as the default, you may run into stuttering.

The real problem is that you can't even use 4GB because of cache sizes and other things like that, ends up coming to around 3.5GB, which can really suck with all 2K textures or above.

I have windows 10 as well, and as soon as I get my 1070 I'm making a partition for win7. It sucks, but ultimately will cause you much less headache

I'm running into VRAM problems myself and am in the process of re-installing Win7 on a partition strictly for Skyrim so I can actually use my 1080. It's a problem.

I ran Ordenador to downscale everything to 4k and still have some pretty bad vram issues.
