I've finally realized what I'm doing wrong. I kept trying to play the game to make cities extremely """efficient""" in that all tiles will be used, when in reality civ 6 plays nothing like civ 5 in that you WANT cities to be as densely packed together as possible to share district bonuses. Go wide and dense, even if the city doesn't have fresh water just cluster that shit as close as you can to other cities, there's literally no downside and district bonuses explode.

So I am making a checklist of simple(?) and some fun mods I can write/make once the mod suite launches, any suggestions?

>choice to make spies & traderoutes function for 3x the standard length
>gold ages
>EL quest system
>control victory (have control over 80% of landmass)
>economic victory (have gold equal to all enemy city values in the game)
>improve trading AI for fair trades
>improve raiding AI for pillaging & raiding cities

>best civs of civ5:
>Harun Al-rashid (Arabs)
>Maria theresa(Aus)
>Willem/WilliamDutch)
>Haile(Ethiopia)
>Attila(huns)
>Hiawatha(iroquois)
>Poca(Shoshone)
>Venice

Also, if I am to make other leaders(suggestions welcome) a civ in civ6, what current civ6 civ should I use as a base in terms of powerlevel?

>Hitler
>No war fatigue from fighting against players that follow a religion
>+1 movement on roads
>>
>>158384762
Yeah, just noticed that repair icon isn't with the icons where you build shit, but instead over where you see builder's stats. Thanks anyway
>>
>>158384689

Regular tiles can be repaired by builders, it's an option next to the move/delete options.

Only districts can be repaired by the city.

Over half of the civs have proponents to help with cultural victory. The direct tourism civs (not counting GP civs) are America (late game explode with musicians and archeology), France (try to get tourism wonders?), Britain (spam archeology).

But anyone can with cultural. The AI seems to not give it priority at all.
>>
>>158385320
I'll be honest, I don't think I have ever let them live long enough for that to happen. I've ensured to eradicate any barb settlements that pops up before I go and do anything else. Just knowing they get battering rams just makes my decision to hunt them down to the last as the absolutely correct choice.
>>
>>158385487
holy crap I lost my scout already, brb buying more lube

Barbarians in VI are only a big threat if you get a wave of them before you manage to scout around your capital really.

Once you're past that stage you can scare off the barbarian scouts so they can't trigger that shit.

>>
>>158385659
One game I had conquered my continent in the ancient era and as a result had rather sporadic territory instead of a blob. Barbarians would spawn every other turn in the fog, it was extremely frustrating all the way through the game.

Although I actually do like the new barbarians. I just think they shouldn't pop up so fucking frequently especially as the game progresses.
>>
>>158385378
they brought in another 75k stack

on the bright side its on the other side of the galaxy
on the not so bright side thats where most of empires on my side of this war are located
>>
>>158385982
It depends on the density of city states too, they usually do a good job of culling barbarians if there are enough of them around.
>>
>>158385659
Honestly they're not even a threat if you get shit rng on them. Build an early slinger and then a horseman to cover your trade routes and you never have problems ever again.
>>
>>158385982
I had simply imagined barbarians became insurgents/terrorists/pirates as we progressed through the era's. It helps me explains why they keep popping up so much even in the modern era.

The game's currently problems are mainly UI and balance issues. With a few number tweaks and a UI overhaul the game could easily be 9 or even 10.

On Prince or lower difficulties, yeah. It seems pretty easy.
Probably partially because the AI is retarded.
Played a pangaea map with 3 other civs.
Rome stayed on 1 city the entire game while hugging one of my cities with their armies (we were allied.)
Arabia built 2 cities and came the closest to winning the game until I defended myself from their religious advances (after I fended them off they gave up on me completely).
France was the only one to expand a bit, but she didn't do anything until shortly before I accidentally won a Culture Victory while going for Science.

Is that really what you took from my post, mate? I was having problem and no, I'm not frustrated. Just seeing if anyone have the same problem or might be able to help.

This isn't my first time pirating, and saying 'oh, you must be computer illiterate, since the game works fine on my computer' does not really help me much.

Where do i say everyone who got it working is bad at computer? I am having a problem and posting here hoping someone could give me direction as I tried everything suggested (even as trivial as 'copy the crack to the game dir', or 'run game as admin', or 'block the exe from firewall'). What else am I missing here? If it is my computer that is preventing the game to run, maybe give some hints on what it is (firewall setting? steam running? redist?).

When the response I got was 'vredist? literally what?', 'you are bad at computers, the game run fine on mine', well, I can't work with that.

Yes, english is my second language, doesn't mean i do not understand it. What's your point?

A tier - Germany, Greece (Gorgo)
B tier - Russia, Aztec, Greece (Pericles), Japan, Arabia, India

It depends a lot on the map. On a huge islands or tiny island plates map, Norway is very strong. But on a pangea, obviously he get's stomped. Likewise Brazil is great if you get a good start but mediocre if there's no jungle to be seen.

I understand the benefits of sharing things like factories, power plants, and the coliseum, but I have a question.
If you optimize your cities, i.e. all your cities are six tiles away from each other, how do you have anywhere near enough room for food/farm production? Can your cities actually grow, densely packed?
Especially if districts override food bonuses.

You're stuck in the civ 5 mindset that growth is necessary due to the attachment to science, but science is a fucking joke in 6. Factor in the abysmal production queues and you're setting yourself up for disaster late game.

Growth is necessary in this game for an entirely different reason. Because each District you make has 3 or so buildings that all need staffing if you want the full benefit.

Is there any good guide for fast production in civ 6? My first play through with england was slow and I hated how every city was shitty till I got industrial buildings which takes forever for a new city to make. I bought gold for every tile to quick suck up the resources. things got tight as fuck after a while.
I wasn't doing river cities because I was kinda on a island map for england. that might be why it was really slow playthrough . Also the games really complex and I kinda played through civ 5 without learning much it was basic and easy to get. this game makes you want to understand everything because of how shitty slow the game is. What civ is the best right now for production and getting units and buildings built fast. I noticed you shouldn't worry about gold tiles from watching a youtube playthrough and only make sure you produce hammers/food with each city with the city options (I didn't know they were there). So my next playthrough Ill place my cites better and see how much faster im able to grow. Also I hear england is shit so that could've been a thing too.

Anyone here play Civ like they're NTR? I setup a game with only 3 civs: myself, Gilgamesh, and Cleo. I build up my capital a little bit and then setup an auto-hotkey script to click next turn endlessly. I then leave my room and sit outside it for a few hours while the game plays. If I come back into the room and the game is still going I mumble a few apologies and excuse myself again. I've thought about knocking on the door before I enter but I don't want the noise to potentially disturb them. A few times my mom has asked why I sit outside the door of my room and I tell her each time "It's my new meta" (she has no idea what that means).

Good luck getting them in range of cities in multiplayer. People who aren't retarded will instantly destroy them, which defeats the whole fucking purpose of artillery. In civ 5 artillery rushes were a nightmare.

>>158396146

1: You need flight unlocked for recon balloons.
2: Artillery and rocket artillery both lack indirect fire. Extra range is F U C K I N G U S L E S S if there's a single hill/forest/mountain in the way of your target.

Can France get tourism from its unique improvement like in Civ V?
>>
>>158393823
B tier is for civs with strong bonuses, but not absurdly broken. Something like Russia from Civ 5.
Since Aztecs don't get loads of free shit like Rome, nor do they get second best cavalry UU in the game (in addition to getting loads of free shit from barb camps) I don't think they are worthy of being up there.
Their worker stealing only works on their warrior replacement during ancient era and you are unlikely to get lots of workers from it since infantry is so fucking slow right now. Their amenity bonus is nice, but their best feature is +strength they get from every unique lux they improve.

Japan or Germany

And industrial and entertainment districts DO share production/amenities with your other cities if they're within 6 tiles (9 if you're toronto's Suzy-Q)

The Hansa gets like +3 adjacency bonus for being next to commercial hubs. I have two with +12 production bonuses in my recent game. Once factories and power plant are up everything gets built in one turn no questions asked.

I finally did it after four or five failed attempts. One small fleet for distraction, pulling every Unbidden doomstack to the very edge of the system, and then jumping my main fleet right at the portal and destroying it before bailing out.

Now I just have to deal with two 400k unbidden stacks, a couple of 200k ones and a handful of 70-90k ones.

They did do a number on the fallen empire though, so maybe I should strike while their fleet power is still "pathetic".

I cant seem to take the edge and win if I dont go to war early, I think.

Last game on king I had kongo and scythia near me, playing norway.
I expanded where I could, had 5 cities, scythia deleted kongo from the game rather quickly and I figured I wouldnt be able to keep up with her production so I didnt go to war, even tho at some point I had tons of muskets and cannons while she still had knights.

She had at least twice more cities I believe, and dominated the religion game too.

Should I specialize my cities more ? Should I wait a long time before expanding, play more tall than wide ?
Usually I end up having campuses, industrial zones in pretty much every city, else I fall behind in science.
>>

Shit lads I had settled near a mountain and I just discover it's a natural wonder. It's Torres del Paine. Some people said wonders don't count as mountains, is it true? The one reason I settled there was so I could use that mountain for aqueduct, if I can't do that I'm pretty sure this city is fucked for a long time
>>
Tiers and brokenness aside, who's your favourite civ to play so far? I really like Rome for the free monument and the baths. No need for iron too.

Great Wall in CiVI seems extremely weak. Unless my cities are surrounded by mountains, why would I build up a bunch of walls that could otherwise be mines, farms, or districts?

One industrial zone can provide bonuses to 3 cities at once if planned properly for example. The AI is retarded and cannot into city planning this is where you have the advantage.

A lot of the wonders have wonky requirements (like the Ruhr Valley), so the AI usually disregards them. They usually go for the easy ones like Stonehenge, Pyramids, Colossus and Lighthouse.

>>
>>158404594

my guess is so barbs and early war civs can fuck off since you cant work all of your tiles that early anyway and then remove it later.

That blob combat is the holdover from its initial gsg design. They need to at least have some kind of formation buff system or something to give some kind of player agency in battle beyond ship design.
They also need to raise the core planets to at least 10 or something, fix the sector AI , add trade and espionage minigames, and maybe some kind of eugenic breedsing for leaders a la CK.Ground combat needs a major rework, Events just need more of them, including mid game triggered ones.

amoeba will merely destroy your station which, while a significant loss, is not insurmountable

What I did in my game was keep up with research (fanatic materialists) and I joined a federation somewhat early on to keep me safe while I used my tech advantage. Eventually the AI wanted to kick out the 3rd empire for being to weak, I agreed and left the federation so I could wage offensive wars.

Also I kept enlightening alien species which was pretty amazing. Eventually they'll automatically vasall and you can integrate them for virtually free expansion.

there's social (green) techs that increases fleet cap. Some leader bonuses enhance it as well.

>What tech should I be getting to make good ships?
You really have to pay attention to the bonuses of each weapon type. Check out what weapons your enemy uses and plan accordingly. Shields are basically useless vs. Disruptors and your torpedos will never ever hit corvettes.

Plan accordingly.

I found energy weapons (blue tech) to be the strongest overall at late game while missiles are pretty good early on.

I hope they revamp the tech tree a bit or at least force you to complete a certain amount of techs of the current era before advancing.

I had an AI enter information era by 1000 AD. He had a spaceport up and running when i was in the renaissance era. He somehow seemed to have avoided every single unit tech though, at least that would explain why AI seems so reluctant to upgrade theirs.

Only wonders I bothered building are Stonehenge for first religion and then loads of later great work slot wonders down the line if I'm going for a tourism victory. Also Chicken pizza can be great if you spawned on the equator.
Only wonders that are always useful are the ones that give you extra policy slots - Alhambra gives you a military one, Hidden Palace gives you a wildcard one and I'm pretty sure there's one for diplomatic, but I forgot which one it is.
>>
>>158415562
Essentially, yeah.
Just highlight a section of space with your colony in it and make it a sector, just remember to keep adding more sector space as you colonise new planets to avoid going over your planet cap.
You shouldn't need more then 1 or two sectors, just keep making them larger and have your original 5 or so core planets under manual control with a good section of stars for direct resources.
Set up a governor and check the settings you want and leave it alone. With time it'll start giving you bonus resources, increasing your ship cap and expanding on its own if you allow it.
Many people complain about sector AI but in my experience its been pretty decent.

As far as I can tell, you can terraform a planet within a particular type (dry, wet or frozen) after the first terraforming tech. With more tech you can terraform directly to any type. I was lucky to start right next to one of the terraforming resources which now, I believe, only increase the speed rather then completely limit what you can do.

Just select a planet and terraform within your borders. Outside of borders just setup one of those border stations on a star.
Stick to terraforming one tier type of planets in early-mid game. ie; dry planets (desert, arid or savanna), wet planets (ocean, continental or tropical) or frozen (Artic, tundra and what ever the fuck the new third one is).

All in 1.3
The wiki needs a serious update.

Yeah. Maybe I'd take classic republic if I was on an isolated island or something.

please tell me I'm not the only one who roleplays and chooses which one my civ would likely be irl if it was around then?

I wish there was a way to do standard speed for the first few eras, then quick speed for the end-game. That would be my preferred speed.

Lol. Civ is too gamey for that kinda stuff I think, I just do the most efficient one. Furthest I go with roleplaying is naming my Aztec religion "Nahuatl".

Is it possible with Hamachi to do civ6 multiplayer on an illegitimate version?

its melee units only. As with most policy related stuff "it depends" is the correct answer. If you cant take advantage of it you set yourself back in the great person race or miss out on free yields and wonder production.

idk about memechi

If the illegal version uses a modified steam dll, then you could just try smart steam emu. I used to play EDF 4.1 with a friend that way and it seems to work for several games.

cause it's not diplomacy 2.0 like most people thought it was going to be

it's fucking domination 0.5

Go to ship designer.
Change the design.
Save it under the same name.
Click on fleet.
Click the little button with a yellow up arrow.
Bear in mind that this costs minerals. Potentially a lot of minerals if it's a big fleet and a big change. So if you've got low reserves the fleet will just sit in port waiting until you have enough reserves, before the process even starts.

Can't you just set a time limit for a turn or two and use a ruin to get higher score to get deity achievement?

Or use teams.

????????????????????

At best, they give you a small icon in the bottom right hand corner and even then the wonder notification doesn't work half the fucking time. It seems to stop at like the Pyramids or Oracle and doesn't ever update again. Is there a notification history like there was in Civ 5?

Venice can be very fun in SP, becaues it is quite strong, if you get a decent start. In MP you will be gangraped, because noone will let you do your bullshit traderoutes/merchant combo.

Not cool.
>>
>>158421873
you CAN go tall, it's not the most optimal strategy but it's not nearly as bad as people thought it was because of the ramping production costs for countries that aren't Japan and Germany

Wood chopping to go tall can be incredibly efficient

>>
>>158421902
You just kinda sit around and play sim city with your planets for a buch of turns, then you win cause you made loads of dosh.
It's relatively fun in the early stages of the game, but it really slows down once colonisation rush is over and your borders get stable.
>>
>>158421873
You can make a core group of cities that get all the love and attention and a bunch of shitty satellite cities made mostly to grab resources, if you like.
>>
>tfw a resource spawns under a fucking district
>>
>>158421556
Glad I pirated it/10.

They've made it more tedious and taken away the "just one more turn" feeling. In fact, the only "just one more turn" thing is along the lines of "maybe next turn something vaguely interesting will happen".

I can't put my finger on it but it's just dull. Nothing interesting ever happens, you just crawl forwards until the end.
>>

It seemed really OP when I played it years ago.
>>
>>158422230
How is that different from Civ 5? What exactly took away the feeling for you?
>>
the apprenticeship rush is OP as fuck, at least up until King and probably emperor as well.

had no trouble spamming settlers very early, 5 cities at around turn 70, workshops everywhere, kept barb, Sumeria and Pericles at bay a good 50 more turns after that with only slingers, when I realized archers where only 1 turn and 30 gold away for each unit.

I think I'm already ahead of everyone except in culture and the snowball effect hasnt even started.

randomed pedro, random continent, got pangea

now I'm bored tho.

In Civ 5 emergent stories seemed to happen quite often. There was a sense of drama between you and the other civs and I felt my aims and their's were more clearly defined.

Civ 6 feels like playing a very slow, very basic, very small version of Sim City while the AI does the same nearby with barely any interaction.
>>
>>158421702
You can easily plunder external trade routes in mp, and venice will have a harder time to protect internal trade routes since they can't place the cities.

Yes. They were the one thing I really liked from Civ 3 and the only one that has never been seen again. I HATE having to settle near some resource to use it, being stuck with a useless city AND having my hammer costs for everything go up for bonus.

The problem is that the icons do not stand out against the map. The background of the resource icons is brown, and when the entire map is shaded with Fog Of War, and without the option to remove that shading in the Strategic View, it's just a map of brown markings that isn't easy to read.

You need both a tech AND an archeological museum, and you can only build one archeologist for each museum, and you must build them at the city with the museum.

>>
>tfw no Amenities
>>
>>158412947

Yes, I noticed this too. But I think it's more that the production is so low you spend have the game just hitting "end turn". IIRC, civ 5 had the same exact problem when it launched, seems they prefer to play it safe, start low, and modify upwards in the patches.

Historically, nations were almost always going to war with one another. What's lacking is a modern day mechanism for "balance of power" war deterrence, no doubt it will come with the UN dlc that also contains the diplowin.
