Why does Shaman get to have a better Arcane Explosion, a better Polymorph, a better Light's Justice, a better Mana Wyrm, and a better mini "giant" (with taunt to boot) that literally synergises with literal any of his decks because it doesn't require any cards to be played?

Considering that is a fairly controlling deck and you will not be trading minions to often at the start, Volcanic Drake might not actually be that great. Of course, that's less dragons. You could replace with a tech card of your choice and another big dragon like Nef or Ysera. Having big dragons combos well with Dragonlord.

But how do you not have 15 beasts? Hunter's entire arsenal revolves around beasts. Hell, there's 10 beasts in the basic set alone and you can run 2 of each of those. Half of them cost 3 or less mana. Worst case scenario you play like 6-8 beasts by turn 6, concede, and then finish up the quest by the second game within like 10 minutes.

Most staples are cheap as fuck right now with all the reprints. The two only expensive cards in the game to worry about in most decks would be Pot of Cupidity and Solemn Strike. And the latter of those just had a reprint while the former isn't inherently staple.

I feel like the "filler cards" in Hearthstone get overlooked a lot. Evolved Kobold was deemed useless until pros started using it, and now it's a great card for Freeze Mage. Karazhan was literally nothing and now people are complaining about Barnes being too good, giving Shaman too many cards and making Hunter live to cancer up the next rotation.
A lot of experimentation gets lost because of how many people playing the game netdeck and only focus on wins. I had fun with anon's paladin egg deck he was shilling around /hsg/ not too long ago when I would've otherwise just made the usual Anyfin Murloc paladin and been on my way.
