The slalom is just weaving through the columns right? That one is straightforward enough. For the reverse 180 you have to start in one end and drive backwards then turn sharp near the opposite end, otherwise you won't have enough speed. The trick is to chain the moves together so one flows into the next instead of wasting time driving into position.

Man N64 emulation is in such a messy state. It took me 30 minutes to get this shit working properly and even then the 3 point texture filtering option does not work and there are black lines on sprites every now and then.
Project64 does not even recognize the patched ROM as a real ROM despite it being able to run on a real system and Retroarch can't even boot the unpatched original game unless using the Glupen core but that has a forced noise filter and audio crackling despite the game running at full speed and the 3 point filtering system doesn't work there either.

the N64 has a native version of bilinear filtering applied by the original hardware.
Not applying it causes weird screen tearing-esque visual artifacts.

>>
>>158472540
>Look at >>158461939 and tell me integer scaling doesn't matter here.
It doesn't matter here because that is how it looks like on a console.
The N64 hardware does produce an integer scaled output.
Seriously look up console render resolutions and compare that to the aspect ratios.
Very few(if any) will confirm to the 4:3 one.
>>

>>

>>
>>158472806
This doesn't even have anything to do with how the system renders it, the issue is that someone used non-integer nearest on the emulator's output.

Seriously, are you fucking retarded or something? It's not even like I'm saying I disagree with you, the shit you're saying is just complete nonsense because you don't even know what you're talking about.
>>
>>158472806

It won't look like that though, unless the N64's hardware upscales the signal using nearest neighbor. This is purely an artifact of digital upscaling. I don't know the N64's hardware really well but I would be extremely surprised if that's how it worked. I would assume that the scaling would be done on the analog side of things (by playing with the timings, like most other consoles) and that won't look like that *at all*.

If you want to emulate that correctly you should have the emulator output at native res and then use a CRT/analog/whatever shader to upscale it.
>>

>>
>>158473736
>unless the N64's hardware upscales the signal using nearest neighbor
It upscales using bilinear filtering so it would look blurrier but apart from that that image is "console accurate"

>the issue is that someone used non-integer nearest on the emulator's output
I love it when people as uninformed as you flaunt their ignorance.
Pic related, left is integer scaled output you need 3rd party hardware to achieve and right is what the console actually outputs minus the signal distortion.
>>
>>158473848

Does it really though? It doesn't even use bilinear for texture mapping so I find that a bit hard to believe. Although admittedly it would run at a lower frequency on the output.

Also it still doesn't make any sense: "apart from the fact that it uses a completely different filter it's console accurate". Bilinear has its own share of issues with non-integer scaling but it definitely wouldn't create uneven "pixels" like that.

It can scale textures with 3point filtering, but it's optional, and incidentally that text is set to not be filtered, but it doesn't even matter because it's also displaying at the source assets' native resolution.

This is what it would look like coming from a real console before it got sent to the CRT, which would fix the aspect ratio, assuming the game even uses a non-1:1 PAR

You're seriously a fucking idiot.

The source asset of the letters are 8 pixels high, on the 256x224(or whatever it actually is for this game) output of the N64 the pixels are still 8 pixels high. They aren't scaled at all by the N64.

The N64 does not output at 256x224. Thats not even a 4:3 aspect ratio. It stretches that to fit 240p.

PPSSPP isn't really WIMP though, so I feel like it'd fall apart under something with as many options as RA has (at least for me). It works for PPSSPP because that has a rather limited scope and number of options so the menus don't get labyrinthine.

Your PC can't play it full speed most likely. Try native res HW mode or SW mode with a threading of (#ofcoresyourprocessorhas)-1

You know pixels output by consoles are not square, right? You don't get aspect ratio by just dividing resolution width by its height. SNES and GEN actually can render a 256x224 image and the image output on a 4:3 TV is very close to fullscreen.

They render it at 256x224 but the output is stretched to 320x240 in case of NTSC TVs.

>They render it at 256x224 but the output is stretched to 320x240 in case of NTSC TVs.

Wrong. CRTs and analogue signals don't use pixels, they use raster/scan lines.

>Does anyone have a PCSX2 settings guide for Shadow of the Colossus?
Play it on PS3.
>>158536304
>the output is stretched to 320x240
Not quite. Horizontally the screen fills the frame because the pixels are rectangles.
Vertically there are 8 lines on the top and bottom to pad it out to the full 240. Overscan usually cuts off the small black area.
>>
>>158541665
>because the pixels are rectangles
Thats what stretching is.
Do you even think what you are typing or just want to reply to posts just cause?
>>
>>158541872
You're seriously retarded; just stop.

Scaling would involve taking the square pixels and resampling them to fit a larger number of square pixels. (Pixels don't really have any inherent shape but whatever)

Outputting to a CRT just makes the pixels rectangles.

They are completely different things.

NES classic first look is out.

How long before we rip the palettes?

Perfect pixel 8:7 master race.
>>
>>158544225
Once someone takes some lossless screenshots of some games. From the compressed images and videos, it looks like it's using a mix of the VC Wii and 3DS's palettes.
>>
>>158544225
>pixel perfect
That's very nice. I didn't think that they'd include something like that.
>>
>>158541417
It means there are approximately 240 non-interlaced lines (more exactly 243) that can hold active video. It does not mean image resolution is necessarely 320x240 (most consoles only used 224 of those lines for active screen picture because of overscan on most of CRT TVs and SMS even only used 192 lines for memory cost and bandwidth reasons) and in fact has absolutely NO relation to number or the shape of pixels rendered or displayed horizontally.
>>
>>158536304
Nothing is stretched vertically, only horizontally . And it's not necessarely 320 pixels wide, it's whatever pixel aspect ratio is compared to theoretical 1:1 square aspect ratio, analog video and TV have no concept of pixels anyway, that's just voltage variations uniformly spaced in time on a video signal output by the console, with the spacing giving rendered pixel output shape. Vertically, unused lines are simply blanked or output with constant color, to fill 240p screen height.
>>
>>158543697
>using scaling and stretching interchangeably
The only retard here is you.
Seriously the only thing you are accomplishing here is embarrassing yourself by your display of ignorance.

The fact that he openly proposed malware in the "these are the site's current options" pretty much cements it as an exercise in fraudulent begging. He basically said to donate and buy passes or he'll put malware on the site. Of course that would be fucking retarded from every angle he could possibly benefit from, but the threat was apparently enough to put the gullible into desperation mode.
