wonder/factory 6 tile bonuses are the most important things in the late game
you settle cities too far apart, go for civ5 3 cities garbage or just throw your districts randomly and you are stuck waiting 40 turns to build anything

Corvettes have mad high evasion now, so I think using weapons with high tracking is better versus them. You really don't war all that often in the early game, though.

I feel like this is a bug. Religions have been stuck at 6/7 for a while now, even though everyone who doesn't have a religion has enough GP points to get a Great Prophet. I feel like this may have to do with the fact that Arabia EXISTED at one point in the game, but was killed within the first 50 turns by Egypt.

Also, am I losing anything by not having a religion? The game has been going very well so far, but I'd hate to get behind just because I don't have a religion due to a bug in the game.

Game isn't up right now so I can't be assed to launch one just to see the pedia but the China entry makes a jab at the name 'three kingdoms period' and the sixteen kingdoms being 'creative' on the part of sinologists when they actually came from contemporary chroniclers from China.
It also claims that [eastern] Han -> Three Kingdoms which is technically right but also wrong since it implies Han as a unified state split into three nations when it was like 5000 little dudes that slowly coalesced into three big states.

So, I'm new to these kind o games. I've always historically been god awful at them, but Civ 6 looks like a whole ton of fun after watching quite a few hours of gameplay of it, even though I have no idea what I would do or how to do it.

Would anyone recommend Civ 6 as a good entry point to the genre, or as beginner friendly with its tutorial/easier difficulties? Because it looks like a LOT of fun and I'd prefer to not pirate it, because moralfag.

You definitely want to move south to the grassland between the wheat. Tundra is useless early game. Mountains are OP, they give super bonuses to Campus, Holy Site, and Neighborhood. Hills are so rare that they are fucking gold, you need them to get mines for production or you'll stall out. Chop the trees, lumber mills come too late to be worth it in your capital.

Civ 6 in it current sate is not a good entry point. It actually increased in depth and difficulty (to play, not to win), whilst losing out the mods and patches/dlc that 5 has. You only need an Aqueduct if you have a mountain nearby and no fresh water to get +6 housing. Otherwise, the +2 housing if a waste compared to an actual productive district.

I get the feeling aqueduct was supposed to be a tile improvement when they decided cities would need it.

Having

Roads to cities automatically means that unlike pleb civs, Roman units can actually travel between your empire and defend it.

Roman Baths are so much better than Aqueducts, they actually get built and your cities can grow faster mid-game.

The automatic Culture boost from Trajan's Column makes it easy to blow through the Civic tree and get all those Government bonuses early on.

Are cities not allowed to shoot back when they are under siege?
What exactly makes a city be under siege?

I had an encirclement earlier and it was perfectly able to shoot me and heavily wound my legionairs to the point where I had to retreat.

Now on my second attempt I have the same unit placement but the city counts as under siege and its like taking baby candy now.

A city becomes under siege if melee units exert zone of control all around it. A melee unit controls all the hexes around it unless there's a river in the way.

Anon, that's the same. 10% extra in each city is the same as 10% globally.

Let's say you have 10 cities with 10 faith each. Per city that's 10 plus 10% = 11. So overall that's 11 x 10 = 110.

Now let's say it's global. 10 x 10 = 100, plus 10% = 110.

Baths give you an amenity, meaning it boosts your growth and keeps it happy unlike Aqueducts.

They're not a must-build, but if you want more citizens to work more tiles instead of relying on districts, it's great.

You only get access to one trade route in the early game which makes it much harder for other civs to settle new cities as quickly as Rome and now instead of wasting time on having you're route build roads you can send it to the nearby gold trading city state for an extra 10 gpt.

So what's the deal with overflow in Civ6? Is it just not there, or do you always have to queue up production and research to not lose overflow?

The main issue with the game right now is that it is fundamentally broken in most aspects, some mechanics can be synergized to derail the game which fucks up MPs, and even if you use house rules and play with dumb AIs who can't exploit for shit, you still have to deal with some shitty balancing decisions

>Cut, unit, sell, buy Builder, cut, unit, sell, buy Builder, sell Builder is ultra powerful and allows you to spiral out of control. Each cut forest is literally 50-75 % on a district, 5-10 % on a wonder or 100-150 gold out of the bat, which you can do two times before selling your worker for another 150 gold
>Agoge allows you to build an army in a kit, and you can sell the units you're spamming out to deal with the upkeep
>Some civs like Rome or Scythia are so powerful it's not even funny, and other civs like England and France are jokes
>Barbarians are broken and will shit out a Classical Era invasion force's worth at you at Turn 10
>Barbarian Scouts are impossible to catch
>Cavalry is massively overpowered due to the rules of engagement change. You should be able to engage if you don't have enough movement points to enter the tile normally, period. Otherwise cavalry has become the new ranged, and ranged is still its own niche
>Wonders are useless. Every single one of them
>Eurekas and Civics fucked up the tech progression properly
>Religious warfare is a horrible, uninspired slog
>ICS is the most overpowered tactic in the game, and is even easier than it was in previous installments
>Surprise revolts are retarded
>Great People system is awful, and you often have to deal with shit-tier GPs. All artistic GPs are useless to invest towards, only one is needed for all three types, for the whole game. Maybe two or three if you are going all in

In Civilization IV entering anarchy (for 4 turns generally) would halt your civilization's functions
This included research, culture, production, and income
This ALSO halted upkeep since you'd have a +0 in your income bar the entire time no matter what
You'd basically make a massive army very fast by chopping or just high hammer cities then enter anarchy forever, steamrolling before the tech loss became a problem. Generally was used with Rome because of how strong the Legion was for when it unlocked so it had great lasting power even when you were behind in tech

It's because there's an archer in the city already, and the spearman can't attack either because it's impossible to attack if you aren't securely in a tile entirely, or it's impossible to attack if you aren't guaranteed to destroy the unit to move out of the tile.

Since the archers are in the town, the spearmen have to route the shortest path to an attackable space on the hosemen. Since there's mountains on one end and more archers on the other they have to go the long way.

Just to add to this, if you hadn't already moved your archer you could've moved the archer out of the city, then the spearmen would be able to attack from it.

Not true, I just abandoned a game today where there was a gigantic ring of mountains in my continent. It was big enough that you probably could have squeezed 4 cities in it (assuming it wasn't solid mountain)

It's an okay total war title.
Simplified on the campaign, improved on the battle, though with less mechanically interesting units and more thematically interesting ones.
It'll have a ton of DLC support for ages and in the end cost like $200 bucks if you don't get it as a discounted bundle.

Worth it on sale for sure. Depends on how much you like total war games and warhammer fantasy.

The base game (without DLC) is pretty substantial and each of the four main campaigns play very uniquely. Completely different unit rosters. Even if you down own the DLC, the map has other factions and units so you can at least fight against them, which keeps things fresh. If you want to play as the new races, factions, or use new units, you can just buy the one or two DLCs you want without having to buy them all.

It's the last great hurrah for WHFB, and a solid Total War on its own.
>>
>>158253085

It's modern Total War-tier. Despite being pro-Warhammer I couldn't get into it and only played a couple hours before I uninstalled. Everything's technically fine and playable and doesn't seem like a complete cashgrab, it's just that I don't give much of a shit about Total War from Shogun 2-onward. In fact I even liked Shogun 2 more than Warhams because the simpler rock-paper-scissors unit balance and smaller more confined world map made for slightly more interesting gameplay. Total Warhams' map is too sprawling for its own good.

kinda, but nah. The embarked boat is just using the animation for the normal boat attack, and the spearmen just die off. You can see the one in the back is just t-posing in place. The lack of clipping is pretty funny, though, so who knows, maybe they did do it on purpose.

>first time seeing the Unbidden since the patch
So exactly what am I supposed to do about this? My whole fleet is like 40k combined and I'm equivalent with all the FE's around. This is like some sort of sick joke.

You should have more
>>
>>158257595

>Stonehenge
>Pyramids
>Petra
>Great Library
>Immortal

My capital is producing more tourism than the next four civs combined.
>>
Why are there no fucking hills anywhere. Have I just been incredibly unlucky in my current game?
>>
>>158261432
Yes, that can happen

I dont even get the tech.

WHY IS THE CIVILOPEDIA SO SHIT IN CIV 6 FUCKKKKKKKKK
>>
>>158258870

First expansion is probably gonna re-figure the maritime aspect of the game and trade.

>You can get naval melee units stuck on land if you capture a city with a melee unit and raze the city afterwards

I wish air units were actually fun to use because they sound fun to use but man are they fucking awful

Pro pro tip guise
if you cant build a district on a tile near your city, it is most likely because it belongs to another one of your cities, swap the tiles on the citizen management, and then you can build your district there
>>

>Piss off everyone on my continent and make friends with everybody else
>Everybody on my continent is too afraid to fight me because they dont want to piss off the other people
>Anybody on the other continent who decides that our friendship is over has to cross an ocean to wage a war they can never win

Being peaceful is way too easy in this game.

don't bombers have a lot more utility because they can pillage?
>>

>not knowing everything
>>
>>158262187
I had an okay time using jet bombers

Helicopters, tanks, and jet bombers are only fun offensive late game units.

I remember the old civ games had the AI able to know where future resources were going to pop up, they could be moving to gobble your sweet uranium down the line

So what is housing in Civ 6? Why doesn't the game explain this?

>>
>>158263452
Pop control, which unfortunately really halts production as well. One of the reasons why coast cities are garbage tier unless you can slam a whole bunch of housing things into them at the start
>>
How do you Great Wall /vg/?

Am I a fucktard for ignoring it until ~industrial when my cities are big enough to connect for culture and looks?

Or is Firaxis fucktards for thinking this was a good idea?
>>
>going religious victory
>spain is in the game
>has 4 sitties
>could have settled his 5th somewhere secluded to deny me victory
>instead puts his 5th city directly in the middle of my other cities
>immediately converted
>roll through his cities completely unopposed while his apostles idle in my 2nd city, not even attempting to convert anything

I thought you guys were memeing about the bad AI. It's fucking awful.
>>
>bombing down Rome with crossbows until my warcart can take the city
>Trajans got a few spearmen just in view, they wander off
>take the city, his last a few turns later

Ai patch when?
