Do I have to level up all three gathering jobs simultaneously just to have access to enough materials to level up one crafting job?

I managed to get WVR to about 27 before I ran out of shards, so I took up BTN to try and fix that, but someone told me that all the crafting jobs will need lots of materials from all three gatherers just to get by.

How true is this? I'm leveling miner and botanist simultaneously and I'm only level 7 and this is already runescape-tier hell.

you can also just buy mats off of the marketboard or guild supply vendors until about level 20

blacksmith/carpenter/goldsmith/armourer are all closely intertwined because of ore usage, and miner caters to those

leatherworker is a bit of miner, a bit of botanist, and just killing mobs for stuff, weaver is similar but mostly botanist
alchemist is mob drops, tiny bit of miner, bit of botanist, and cul is botanist and fisher

bsm/arm are basically the same class and craft all of each other's stuff, which is pretty nifty

One thing I really appreciate is how easy it is for me to cap out on my weekly tomestones in the first two-three days thanks to an Alex tier that isn't an ordeal to do with randoms, Khloe having a good spread of stuff to do including PotD and I can fill in the time between all that stuff with the Squadron and other stuff.
