The plays are usually obvious since you have garbage card draw, so you won't have a lot of choices most of the time.
Your early game is vanilla, shit like trogg > golem > wolves > 477s. Just watch overload.
Then you move into your power plays in the midgame. Fire eles are simple. Steakmen are 7-drops, you play them then hero power.
Rag is also simple, you just drop him and pray.
Mana tide can be dropped on empty board in early game, or behind taunts later on.
Flametongue is used for burst damage, in this game you never expect anything to live longer than a turn.
Barnes can be used as both a 4 and 6 drop (to leave space for hero power when you get steakman).
Use TFB to fill gaps in your curve.

Post what specific decks you're losing to and we can help more, mid shaman is a very versatile deck and has options against most of them.

the only interesting matchups are vs other flood aggro where it's like playing a mini-RTS

As long as freeze mage exists, mage can't have more powerful mid-late game stalls, because that further threatens the existence of midrange and control as archetypes.

It's an idiotic idea on par with reno in warrior or reno in priest.
Reno heals you. Why do you need extra healing in shaman, which has a 3 mana heal for 14?
And more importantly why do you need extra healing (and refreshment vendor and shit) in a deck with that kind of curve? Or elemental destruction?

Just think, what the fuck are you going to do in the late game? Hope malch gives you some big drops?
Against freeze mage or any deck with an actual late-game win condition you might as well concede.

If you want to play control shaman, forget reno, your cards are just too good to run only 1 of, and you have way more than enough healing.
Control shaman's real problem is the complete lack of a wincon.
If you want to experiment, we've found that these are probably the most promising (in this order):

As a final word about the /vg/ League and /hsg/'s participation in it, we are currently slotted for a stadium, and can customize the pitch and sky.

Earlier discussions had Zeriyah's tits and the Stranglethorn board as options, however the most voted-for option given has been Estadio de HAHAHAHAHA!, the Ben Brode Stadium.

I'm going to begin work almost immediately so our players can stamp their feet in Brode's smug face.

For the sky, I'm considering putting the fifteen or nine original heroes in a circle around the stadium. Any objections?

It really didn't, anon. Or maybe you never played pre-Standard. With oil, it was staggeringly easy to build a huge weapon, hit face, blade flurry to clear their board and hit their face again. So, in the end, you cleared their board and dealt a huge amount of face damage.

Now, oil has rotated, but the "limits design space" meme is true to an extent. If Rogue kept Blade Fury like it was, they could never release another oil without making every other class' level at the same power level, or Rogue would dominate. So, they chose to neuter Rogue than overpower everyone else.

There were two ways they could have done the nerf. Raise the cost or make it not hit face. For some truly demented reason, they did both and nerfed it beyond imagining.

The issue with them is that fan only kills tokens and magma ragers and Skulker is a 5 mana conditionally deal 2. The body doesn't matter when all you want is a way to not get skull-fucked by aggro.

Eitherway, it's still usable, it just cant be used in the frankly ridiculous ways it was being used before, i.e. not as a board clear but as a finisher.

Shaman is the most overrated deck in the game, it's not even the best deck. When played perfectly, malydruid with geddon is the best deck.
