I think this will go a long way to stop the nonsensical shit institutions added. Though I still think the provinces linking north africa to sub-saharan africa shouldn't exist, technology didn't really spread around that route.
Increasing the malus tribes get for spread should also help stopping sub-saharan africa becoming advanced fast, right now tribes have less malus to spread than hordes, when they should have the same or more.

There's still the problem of acquiring tech ultra fast when you border a colony or trade company though.

Started my first Ironman game as France since you people said France is so easy.
Fought alongside Castille versus Portugal, Aragon, and England. I promised Castille territory in the war but they peaced out before me and got shit. I white peaced Portugal and Aragon and got all five English French provinces from the war.
The Pope excommunicated Provence. Pope and Burgundy declared (separate) wars on them, and Burgundy took Lorraine and peaced out. I declared war as well, forced them to accept vassalage, and got into a war with the Pope, which ended with the Pope ceding my new vassal Avignon.
I diplovassalized Navarre and am planning on doing the same to Brittany one day.

Got a mission to destroy Savoy, but I forgot that they're a part of the Empire and I'm too pussy to fight Austria and all their allies so I'll probably abandon that mission if they don't get involved in a major war with someone else first.
Burgundy got a heir so I guess that means no inheritance for me and Austria? This is a good thing since it means Habsburgs won't inherit the Low Lands, right? I can just declare war on Burgundy in a traditional manner and conquer them, right? When is the best time to do this? Besides their vassals they don't have any allies and hate everyone - me, Austria, England.

Also, if you have any other tips I'd greatly appreciate them. What should I take as my first idea?

Administrative gives you cheaper coring costs which is imperative if you plant to go full Napoleon on the Europe and cheaper admin tech and mercs aren't bad either.

Unless you have some 0/0/6 ruler typically an extra tech is just better than few ideas from any of the military ideas so usually military idea group is picked up from second to fourth but typically third or fourth depending on how many points of each category you are generating

I always assumed it was imperative to take a military idea first not to get an edge in combat against other nations. I never considered that I might be falling behind in military tech by doing so. That's good to know.

In other news, Ottomans declared war on Austria so Austria moved troops out of Burgundy to fight them and won't be 100%ing them anytime soon. I hoped that war would end soon so the event doesn't fire, but oh well.

For now the changes seem to be good. Feudalism is struggling to spread to the steppes and tribes and mountains and deserts are acting like more natural barriers.

Still the kingdoms in sub-saharan africa are developing feudalism and I really don't think that's really that accurate considering they had largely tribal organization, but I guess it's not as bad as long as they take a while to do it.

Consider increasing your army to forcelimit if you are making lot of extra dosh and yes sink the rest to buildings that make you more money. Churches are good starting point since pretty much all of France is high enough on tax to warrant building them.
