So I just unlocked a second Focus thingy (it was the first non-unairu lens I got from sorties).

I seem to be a bit unclear on how the invis-kill-invis chain works.

The invis only triggers on 'critical damage' - if this means 'crits only,' I should clearly use a melee weapon with high crit chance and swing speed.

I don't know of any melees off the top of my head that really fit the bill, and the only thing I think might also trigger it is Covert Lethality ('lethal damage' is a term I've seen nowhere else).

Every time you crit with a melee weapon it triggers. It will refresh your timer if you crit while invisible.

I tend to use war or the galatine prime for destroying shit.

other crit melee can be anything above ~15% chance once you've stacked up enough extra using bloodrush and bodycount.

Make use of deadly intent if you intend to be deadly with non-stock-crit melee weapons.

Tried switching to Shade for a bit, how the hell to people get any use out of his cloak? It doesn't stay on while you're running through the level, it doesn't turn on in Spy vaults, when you ARE in close range with enemies you can't attack. What the hell is it for? Taking screenshots of enemies?

I played earlier,can't say for how long but I have 350 hours on steam and I remember stopping playing during Ember Prime.
Got bored because SOMA was the best weapon and it'd be the same weapons, same frames, same everything on the same levels hoping to get a drop before being able to progress.
H-how is it nowadays? I gave it a quick try, like less than an hour, but I don't know what I'm doing with weapons and stuff now and not really sure what half of the weapons are like.

that pastebin gives some pretty bad advice, especially the Equinox part, with 2 forma you can get an Equinox that buffs and maims incredibly well. Also multiple Dayform Equinox with Peaceful Provocation can use Provoke at different times to boost each other's strength bonus up until the full 80% bonus even if they start with low power strength. Since Maim causes bleed procs based on its damage you can walk around killing everything even at Sortie levels, since its channeled you can use Growing Power with it easily. Then there's the fact that you can store the damage of enemies killed by another Equinox's Maim, wait for the to start it back up again, then drop yours to recycle the damage. Equinox literally synergizes with its self.

that's not true at all. According to wiki, cast deals 300 damage, and the DOT is 200 FINISHER damage/s. Similar damage outputs except one is finisher, making it significantly better.

Plus, there are a LOT of benefits from building high duration:

1) Better energy efficiency. I use a max BR on my Hydroid build with no energy problems, this will not be the case if I have to continually spam it
2) Better afk potential. If I'm farming something, I just camp in a dead end, tentacle the entry point, then alt-tab
3) Narrowminded reduces range of Tentacles, which can be beneficial

Not to mention there's no downside of building high duration, since you can recast it anyway. Old hydroid builds used low duration because it wasn't recastable, so you often "wasted" a lot of time with empty tentacles. That's been changed and currently there's no benefit to having low duration

For Sortie levels you can just use Rage (2) to increase the damage they take from the bleed procs, or drop maim every so often to kill everything that survives the bleed proc.
