The core gameplay and general aesthetics of the game are just way too damn good to toss aside forever.

Ashes of Ariandel is going to be the worst From DLC in my opinion, after watching the trailer and gameplay preview it was pretty surprising for me to notice that literally nothing I saw caught my imagination or made me want to play it.
It doesn't bother me too much since Dark Souls III itself didn't really impress me, but if something similar happened to Bloodborne it would be depressing for me.
Talking about this reminded me how excited I was for The Old Hunters after watching the Tokyo Game Show trailer, and how it surpassed my already high expectations.

My total playtime with the Souls series steadily decreased with every sequel, but I have no regrets. I actually had less hours in vanilla BB than vanilla DS2, can't remember what the final hours are after all the DLCs and all.

They're still all better than the other shitty games I wasted money on.

They can do Futureborne, Bloodborne 2 or Niggerborne for all I care. I want more.

First altar in the Hunters Dream is for SRRC, it'll let you join others who are doing dungeons you have already completed or within the same depth and below. Or you can ring your Small Resonant Bell in other areas of the main game, some of the earlier places are barren. Byrgenwyrth is active for lower levels though.

You can join players for bosses you have already defeated. Beckoning Bell let's others join you in areas you haven't killed the boss in. You could always ask for help here, but since it's your first playthrough I'd advise soloing every boss you come across at least once or twice before summoning help.

Rom is pretty active, Shadows maybe. Not sure about One Reborn but you could try. Because the Reiter only has thrust attacks when it's untricked, and even then it still has a few moves that are blanket physical.

Rifle Spear isn't that good of a choice for thrust gems either, considering the shotgun won't benefit from them and the tricked moveset is largely slashes and not pokes.

Use Physical for the most part. No weapon does pure Thrust (best option is the tricked Church Pick). Beast Cutter, Boomhammer, and the Logarius Wheel will do well with Blunt gems though. Physical gems increase all 3 damage types (including Blood), but Blood, Thrust and Blunt gems can come in higher %'s. Sometimes Nourishing gems would be better for split weapons if you have the stats for them (Tonitrus, Boomhammer, Logarius Wheel, and Holy Moonlight Sword can use them effectively with Strength and Arcane investment).

25/50 Church Pick is *the* PvE choice. Thrust damage to fuck kin, serration to fuck beasts, high skill for huge viscerals, fantastic moveset and great reach. Plus you can get to some comically high levels of damage output with thrust gems.

A pushdagger is a strength weapon much moreso than a standard dagger, because you have to PUSH IT IN. Stake Driver is close, but its blade is too short.

Flail would be strength in a game like this no doubt, with maybe a little scaling in skill just to try to represent the "don't hit yourself in the face with it, dummy" factor of how much "skill" it would take. Mace untricked / flail tricked would be fantastic.

Gunshield would have to be a 2H STR/BLT weapon with guard on L2 and shoot on R2 when tricked.
