I think it's the politics and diplomacy of the medieval age that sets it apart from the other games. I hope CA will make a complicated system that will tie in with diplomacy, religion and politics. Stainless Steel has a pretty decent map in general, the only complaint I have is that you can't sail from the Red Sea to the Persian Gulf because the Arabian peninsula cuts off before Aden. For BI Invasio Barbarorum (any of them really) is pretty good. For Attila I've heard good things about FOTE and Europa Perdita but I haven't tried it out yet.

It's been a few years since I read about it, so I can't nail down if it was during or after the republic in Rome, but it was at a time where the big thing were these political gangs who favored senators and went around intimidating people, getting in fights, and wrecking up businesses and homes, for the purpose of gaining political favor for the guy they supported. Well this particular case was where, the leader of one of these political gangs bought or hired a gladiator named Mifato as some extra oomph for their gang. They went to confront and encounter a rival political gang in a market place and an actual small battle broke out. Actual people were killed, and Mifato gained notoriety for beating an armed opponent in combat and to the death with a large fish grabbed from a market shop after he'd been disarmed.

I remember the story pretty well since it ended up being a huge running gag in our Latin classes in high school.

Is there a mod out there that does any manner of the following

a) Sets a prerequisite amount of troops to resettle a ruined settlement (AT LEAST 15-20)
b) Increases the cost of resettlement, with cost reduction based on how many units are in the stack
c) Adds a "timer" of sorts so a razed town cannot be resettled immediately, with at least a 5 turn delay

I absolutely hate when I see the AI use a stack of five units, half strength, reclaim a city

Also, do you build recruitment buildings in every few provinces, or have a specialized place for units? (I build all my cavalry in Reikland, but Wissenland is artillery/infantry recruitment land, I do not build military buildings anywhere else, save for Northern Kislev_
