DS3 is a great Souls game, it's a return to form and in fact aside from the shitty weapon balance it's exactly what a Souls game should be in both PvE and PvP.

I'd say that Dark Souls 1 had some things done more interestingly than Demon's, but one of the really GREAT things about DS3 were that the game incentivized and enabled genuine low level pvp by giving you the Red Eye Orb right at the start so you don't end up with a situation where all the people capable of doing low level pvp are twinks with maxed out gear.

Im mostly just pissed that From ditched all the GOOD things that came from DaS2 for the shitty, archaic system of DaS1.
I also miss twinblades, the riposte/knockdown riposte animations, infusions not being so ass, poison being good, and a meta where pretty much any build worked, along with the spells, weapons, armor, and fashion to support them.
It felt like that some of the DaS1 things DaS2 tried to do failed, but the new ideas they put in were pretty successful (except soul memory that was a mistake and so was the change the Greatsword went through)

To be fair, DaS2's meta was only diverse and fun like that after the DLC patches.
Pre-DLC it was just an endless procession of fotm shit as 90% of the game's huge roster were unusably bad.

DaS3 is better balanced than pre-sunken king DaS2 in terms of the number of actually usable weapons. Hopefully the AoA dlc patch will address some of the outstanding issues.

You won't figure out timing until you fuck it up enough times to get the muscle memory. Beating reaction parries is as simple as using an R2 when they except an R1 or charging your R2 half a second longer than usual. Only the slowest weapons can be parried completely on reaction and those have options for unparryable attacks.

For pvp, use the drakeblood knight in ADP
He has the added bonus of following the same stunlock rules as a player, so you can test combos and stuff. His damage resistance is generally higher than a player's by a bit, but the defense spread is roughly the same, so he's a good test subject to get an idea of how much a buff will add or how much damage a split damage weapon will actually do.

Added bonus is that he respawns immediately on death and is like 3 steps from a bonfire.

I guess I am lucky and you are unlucky. Either way ganks are pretty easy to deal with at those SLs because the white phantoms have very little hp. I mostly meet hosts with only 1 phantom. It's all fun anyway. Not like the hosts would have a chance 1v1.

See, the issue with Ricard's is that its actually fairly balanced, which means that it could most likely lose against most other things. Its damage is so low early game that you will very likely just not overcome the enemy's armor with R1s, and your WA is literaly trash that only does 2x the damage for the small cost of your entire stamina bar. You have no HA, which means youre very likely to just get knocked out of any attack you do by anyone with HA, ESPECIALLY in PvE. Holy shit is the PvE rough with Ricard's. Low damage, not even faster than a straightsword so you cant break an enemy's poise as easily, range is low compared to a SS, can hardly aim your attack so if youre fighting agile enemies good fucking luck trying to hit them, no vertical attacks so you cant even deal with crowds very quickly or easily. Ricard's is just too honest a weapon to try and do well with. It is maybe ONLY good at high level PvP with Darkmoon Blade on it or something. You can try to do a 1-shot combo build with it, but thats just about all youre gonna be rolling with.

There was no reason to institute said limited respawns in the first place and the whole idea was dumb and only served those people who were shit enough at the game to not handle it unless they went and depopulated the entire area before the boss.

Lightning is super effective against Lorian. Point blank, you hit for upwards of 1200+ with a SLS, Canvas +10, and 60 Faith. You can just 2-shot him whenever he gets revived, even with 3 people fighting him. I never killed the Princes faster than with my Faith character.

DS1/DeS have that eerie, otherworldly atmosphere. DeS is great for capturing the feeling of FEAR, while DaS 1 is great at capturing hopelessness/resignation.

One thing that made Demon's Souls have a very pants-shittingly scary atmosphere was that the story makes it clear that Boletaria got fucked but the rest of the world is in jeopardy too if nothing is done to stop the Demons who at the start of DeS are surging harder than ISIS in 2014.
Your goal is clear pretty much from the moment you watch the intro cinematic. Kill the demons.

DaS1 is honestly kinda confusing. You're given a vague hint about the Undead Pilgrimage and discover stuff about the world as you're going along but you feel kind of disconnected from the whole thing until like a third of the way through until Frampt shows up to guide you. You won't likely get DaS1's story until you've done like multiple playthroughs of it.

What's happening at the FC? I suddenly got more HP and FP.
