Do you think the new expansion for eu4 will make it a better game than Vicky 2?

Vicky has an arbitrary tech system that's almost exactly the same as something like Civ 5 - you get science points and you can chose what you can research in the tech tree. And eu4 will have this system where it accurately simulates tech spread, so no backwater country can become a great power.

Vicky 2 might have some neat gimmicky features, but they would be irrelevant in the eu4 period, same as eu4 features wouldn't fit in the Victorian era.

I love Vicky 2, but it's getting boring play the same thing over and over. I'm starting to enjoy eu4 way more now.
I don't get why /gsg/ says eu4 is an awful game, when it's objectively the best Paradox grand strategy game that's currently released.

You never have enough forcelimits untill you have so much it doesn't matter what you take.
Realistically by the time you pick your first military idea you probably haven't snowballed hard enough for that to be the case (again especially because you have to ask).

Your army has to be absolutely massive for it to be more worth to improve your existing troops about 10% over having way more forcelimit/manpower and cheaper regiments allowing you to fill that forcelimit.

Order depends a bit on how you play and what kind of rulers you pull but generally start with Administrative or Influence if you are struggling with getting alliances. Then you probably want the other one you didn't take. Then depending on your points and your strategy you take the mil or the adm idea and then the one you didn't take.

Admin is really good pick on small nation with all the mercenary buffs it gives. Coring cost reduction is bit less effective on Byz than other nations since Byz already has a lot of cores ready for taking.

But also you don't have to finish the idea group, just take what you need. It's just fine to be one tech behind in admin as those techs are generally speaking useless. With the bonus to tech you get from picking up ideas, -5% to -10% bonus from being bit behind to your neighbors and western arms trade means you will never be more than 2 techs behind anyway or you are doing something horribly wrong.

Combat ability increases the casualties and morale damage your units deal but don't offer the defensive buffs morale or discipline would. Also combat ability affects only one unit type at a time while morale and discipline give boosts for everyone.

Humanist/Religious really just depends on how you wanna play. Religious is probably the way to go since you most likely will be expanding to a lot of muslim provinces and your main orthodox areas can't keep up your religious unity even with humanism without a lot of converting. That being said especially if you want to stay small or focus more on Europe humanism can definitely be viable option.
Also if you go full heresy and convert to catholic then humanism is obviously best.

What do you mean? You don't need the vassal integration discount early on. And the other bonuses it gives you are not significant enough to take it earlier.
If you mean in terms of sinking your Dip, you can use them to raise Mercantilism now. Also, your starting ruler and heir are pretty bad, so you won't really run into the situation where you have too many Dip.
Better take Diplo tech early on for trade bonus and raise your Mercantilism.
