Sonic is part of a team. He would fuck up without the team having his back. He does the most but needs people to help when it comes to the bigger picture. To see the bigger picture needs a leader. Sally might not be master tactician, same as Tails isn't master technician and Nicole isn't master AI, they're a bunch of kids/teens. But they do their best.

Sally as she is is fine, allows for the King of Acorn to have some sort of effect on the world, allows for the cliched but well worn Princess having some impact on anyone they meet officially, allows for King Acorn to go fucking berserk on the first people that hold them hostage.

Well excuse me, princess.

I'm just looking at it from the perspective of someone who only plays the games. Archie incorporates elements from the games, the cartoon and their own stuff, and this means changes from the setting I'm used to. Some are good, some are bad.

I mean look at Amy. In the games she's either useless or employed when someone needs to be given a heartfelt speech or two. In the comics, she gets to be that but also the power type, because Knuckles doesn't get to play outside of Universe anymore.

On the other hand, there's Tails. In the games, he's the person who hangs out the most with Sonic, the inventor guy and the sidekick. In the comic, he has to lose the inventor title because otherwise Rotor would have no niche, and his relation with Sonic is a lot less important since he hangs out more with Sally, who he has more history with and who is the same age as him.

I fully understand why they do this, after all, even with all the reboots, the comic got its own history and a wider cast, so it's natural that they spread qualities over more characters so they all retain relevance. This is not a bad thing, per se.

I just don't need to like how capabilities of characters I know and love from the games are removed so they can be redistributed to characters I don't give a flying fuck about. So you can take your love for Sally and live a long and prosperous life with it. Just don't force me to like her or shut up, too.
