There's not much to say. You should be focused on getting engineers, because engineers let you build more uplinks and launch more stas. You aggressively build and launch satellites and sell your loot if you have to to cover costs.

But I feel like you may already know this, not sure how helpful this advice is. Also you can save the base assault for when you need to save more countries. It reduces panic worldwide.
Exalt can also help with panic if you get lucky and they have covert ops in the right countries.

If your goal is to beat impossible, I would probably turn off the dlc. The missions are meant to be challenges and aren't worth the risk.

Definitely do not be afraid to sell loot. You can always get more later, and getting the money to get more satellites up early in the game is more important than anything else, but you can' get your cash from mission since you need to be snatching up engineers.

Research is fairly free-form, but the story-important ones should be marked on the list. You might want to rush magnetic weapons, which is behind Modular Weapons. Supplies come from supply raid missions, monthly drops from the resistance, and from selling corpses and stuff to the Black Market. You'll also get some from the occasional guerilla op reward or random scan location, as well as removing junk from rooms on the Avenger. Don't splurge your spending but pace yourself. The GTS and AWC facilities are worthwhile early investments, as are items like flashbangs and smoke grenades.

Your first Specialist should always be offensive, but I do personally swear by the usefulness of medics as well.

Basically, early on, you need to prioritize getting to Magnetic Weapons as fast as possible, difficulty be damned. Go for Modular Weapons then Mags. Once you have that, you should unlock the Resistance Radio, as well as the Advent Officer Autopsy (opens up a lot of tech choices) and Hybrid Materials->Plated Armor for tier 2 armor. Generally, i think they're shit. However, you can get away with just one specialist mostly using the combat tree and taking the revival perk. X2 is about murdering enemies quickly, not extended firefights, so aggressive "kill they ass" perks are better, in a general sense.

Magnetic weapons. Mags are always a priority, barring perhaps on veteran-.
Same goes for communications, since you want to start contacting regions leading you to facilities.
Tier 2 armor does bring advantages, but getting mags first is a must.
If you're swimming in intel and the closest facility is at only a couple of jumps from you, buy rushes from the black market for weapons/mags.
Generally, avoid autopsies since they become instant if you have enough corpses.
Faceless are obviously exempt since beacons are still life savers.
Might want to wait until the second retaliation, since usually you won't have enough corpses.

You get quite a bit of them simply by clearing out the Avenger. Sell things you don't need. Relays also increase revenue but they cost more the more you have, so don't go overboard.

Flashbangs completely nullify all biological abilities, always take at least one, preferably not on your scout.
Sectoids, snek, stunlancers sprint-stab, if it can get banged, it's ability gets fucked.

Prioritise modular > mag weapons, ignore all other research until you get mag weapons, gauss can wait a little bit depending on your preference, that unlocks the cannon / sniper / shotgun variants and those classes dont have to rely on straight damage as much due to utility.

If you're lucky with the black market you can have them before the first retaliation mission, but chances are you'll have three days on its research when the mission hits.

Get a Gorilla planning college up as soon as you can, followed by squad size.

In case you got bitched at by vahlen in Xcom1 too much, USE YOUR FUCKING GRENADES, a dead ayy cant shoot you, fuck its loot you'll get more chances when your guy's get more than peashooters.


Use your first ranger for it's phantom perk, that extra scouting potential is OP as fuck.

First specialist is your hacker, second is your medic, try to train them up equally but the medic shines better in mid to late game.

Sniper can go either way in it's tree depending on your play style, gunslinger's pistol benefits from equipped ammo but the pistol cant be modded without...mods.

Gunner can also go either way, although most people agree that explosives expert is the way to go.

Try to always work towards the next blacksite mission, the doom timer can get out of control if you faff about too much.

Equip at least one guy with the exalt bandanna.

While Dr Tygan is good at dissection and theory crafting, he lacks the complete disregard for ethics that Dr Vahlen had, hence the lack of torturous technologies that involve chopping off limbs, futzing with peoples insides and the psychic torture tube chamber (Tygan's version being the psychic torture comfy bedrooms).

Who knows what wonders Vahlen could have applied to Xcom's second attempt at victory; perhaps vivisecting rookies to create Xcom Archon and Viper troop analogies or at the very least give us our very own Viper King and some way to keep it from shoving its twindicks into Shen.

Well if you play this game "luck" becomes more important then many other things (That moment when you have 95% chance to hit and miss :P)

There are many good things in the game, like the story which is in my opinion the main motiviator for that game. The unit classes, balance and Items are well made (especially the Items). There are many different weapons, special weapons, armor, nades,... which are really cool. Furthermore I think the Level Design in general is pretty nice.

Now to the bad part :/. First of all the difficulty. To be honest when my best unit becomes a headshot from an alien across the map and dies instantly, I feel thats a kind of joke. Furthermore the diffculy in general is extrem and really to high. (If you manage to play this game on ironman RESPECT!!!). Another negativ thing is that game has some really game breaking bugs. For example I get killed through the wall. Furthermore cover is sometimes calculated without direction. So if you have a cover on your right side and you shoot from the front he gets a ing bonus !. So now to the time limits, through the entire game I was really stressed. Most missions have a time limit of 8 rounds which is really not funny. and the entire campange has an time limit aswell, so you can`t really relax at any time. Last but not least this is just for dlc, If you think the base game is to hard, well SUPRISE, get ready to lose your entire squad in 2 turns.

All in all it was a nice try but, there are too much problems, most imporant the high difficulty and the bugs (aswell as timelimit). The game has much potentical and I really dont like writing a bad review. But If you are not a hardcore Strategy Fan and love the Challenge you will not have much fun with this game, because you will see your loved squad dieing to often and will be depressed after some missions.

You are relying on 50% shots. The numbers games say you are going to lose. The aliens have more troops, so you can't hope to win on coin tosses.

Remember that there are no time limits you can play extremely defensively. You can spend the entire turn hunkered down if you don't have any good shots. Also don't hesitate using your grenades if you are in a tough spot.

I can understand your frustration, but you may want to try and understand the game better first or try a lower difficulty level. Classic is not an easy difficulty if you aren't familiar with xcom. That's the highest difficulty I've beat, never even tried Impossible.

I've beaten XCOM EU on normal difficulty, and XCOM2 on Veteran difficulty.

I wanted to try something more difficult with EW, but the unbelievable luck the enemy has vs the unbelievable bad luck I've had is ridiculous.

I understand you get a bad mission every once in a while, but two in a row, where the enemy will hit you regardless of where you go and you cannot hit them worth shit. That flanking shot I took was only a 72% shot, I'm lucky I made it at all apparently.

Maybe I could have played more defensively and retreated and made the mission last 20 extra minutes, but it was a freaking group of 3 sectoids, which all of my squad should be killing in one hit regardless.

I understand your frustration, but defensive play is definitely the way to go. There's a rule of thumb that you don't take any shot that isn't 100%. Obviously that is an exaggeration, but it really is the mindset that you need to play xcom on the higher difficulty levels. If you aren't playing to every advantage without luck on your side, you will not succeed. Look into using hunker more when you don't have good shots. Look to break los as well if possible to bait they ayys into inferior positions. And definitely advance extremely cautiously. You never want to activate an alien pod on anything but your first soldiers move.
It's true, better to be lucky then good. But since you can't know your luck (or the enemies luck), your only choice is to be good.

In Xcom2 because of the way crit works, when you flashbang an ayy it only lowers their chance to hit normally, it doesn't touch the crit chance. So, IF they hit, chances are that they will crit.

Difficulty has no bearing on enemy accuracy, only yours. Exception being on babby where the AI should get a malus to the next shot if they hit the previous one.

Height advantage only works one way. You can edit one of the inis to enable a malus if you're at lower elevation, but that's not a vanilla mechanic.

Aliens also aren't affected by range. At all. Whether they're right next to you or on the other side of a river makes no difference.

Also the crit is due to Jake being an idiot.
Basically instead of doing a roll to see if you hit and one to see if you crit, it wraps them up in a single roll. In short, if crit chance is equal or higher than chance to hit, and the shot hits, it's always a crit.

Nah. It was just a test to see whether it was possible to have clones of the same soldier spawn as different entities. Never actually went with a full Prophet campaign.
Pretty easy to do though, just repeatedly import Bradford from the default charpools and edit their names to something else, then re-edit first/last name after gatecrasher.

I go with Threat Assessment because firing on an enemy still in cover defeats the purpose of overwatching in the first place, and it lets you throw an overwatch on someone who's out of moves.

Phantom, Hack protocol.
New skills that let them do a stunning melee attack.
A protocol that disorentates enemies in a radius, like a flashbang but also works on robots with a smaller radius.
A one-time ability simaler to a meme-beacon (Based off Ping program)
A protocal that shreds through armour and shielding but no damage

Guerrilla Leader/Infiltrator class

Coordinates the resistance movement and so isn't stationed on the Avenger. You'll have to plan ahead when relocating them to regions of action.

Can be specialized to either provide resource bonuses or combat support.

When deployed on a mission, they're separate from the squad and come with a few resistance fighters whose qualities depend on their rank and level.

Resource Bonus perk guerrillas are not as combat worthy, but they find loot, intel, cores, supplies where normal XCOM operatives won't. They can also disperse civilians and draw attention without breaking the main squad's concealment.

Combat Guerrillas start off at a level of XCOM base security but with perks they can become more like EXALT elites.

Jesus fucking Christ, this mission is long. Lost two soldiers in the last part, having to deal with that Sectopod at the end was brutal. Lots of bugs in that mission as well, like the Advent MECs self-destruct not actually doing damage to my allies and the "control all MECs" hack only activating 5 turns after I hacked the sectopod. I probably wouldn't be able to complete it without the bugs.
