i remember summoner being pretty easy if incredibly boring. just get that one sustain that turns your dragon summon into a "dragon + two shitty small dragons" summon, get the 2 or 3 cooldown resetting talents, and drown any threatening enemy in an instant pile of 12 dragons (which has the side effect of making you almost perfectly safe from most attacks since the enemy is completely surrounded by meatshields)

Ah, yes. You always need 500hp by extended, a 27 Fighting, 27 weapon skill by Vaults to be safe and always a good idea. Oh, and don't forget the rF+++++, rC++++++ and rN3 and Relec. Much better with rCorr and lichform. Don't forget to grind abyss for a book of Warp to get the ever reliable Controlled Blink and 20 ?blinks while you're at it.

i won't bore you with the exact details, but:
- I almost immediately found two artifacts, the (then) iron cap and the red ceremonial robe.
- I ran into a cache of gems, which totalled about 2500k gold.
- eventually finding 3 -different- trainers, 2 enchanters, 1 alchemist, 1 potion merchant, and the guy that made the run possible: the 1 general merchant that let me sell shit to him
- finding massive numbers of stat buff wands, but using them was only possible thanks to a circle of power; unfortunetly i had to remove my levitation boots every time i wanted to use it
- motherfucking charisma amulet for better NPC deals
- finding an armorer let me upgrade 3 equipments: the helm, gloves, and shield
- getting massive stacks of rocks on some levels, and rolling the enchantment "acid" on two piles resulting in what you see there
- never found a fucking bow, never got to use those artifact arrows. their sell value is shit, too (the known stack? 5 gold. can't sell unknown enchanted items)
- the 4 damage flail, which after enchanting detected undead. who mostly move slower than i do even at base speed, or have 3 HP
- i also found a scimitar, but it was simply inferior and cost too damn much to enchant

the entire gimmick is to reach the midway point, and then absolutely stop resting once you aquire enough buffs; any time you rest you lose all your temporary buffs.
it then becomes a game of risk management and hoping you've built the proper character, because if those buffs go away you're borderline fucked.

protip: the correct way is "GOTTA GO FAST" and to have high vision. vision to see enemies that cast temporary debuffs or even status effects forcing you to rest or consume a cure item. most enemies have 6 or 7 speed and your base speed is 5; without trainer NPCs or equipment you're forced into a life-or-death fight.

How do I deal with shrill whistling creatures? I've used up 2 whole chargers of tommy gun ammo, my entire stock of spikes, a molotov and a dozen machete attacks, including a stealth one, on this horrible fucking thing. It's driving me insane outside the game too. Damn it.

As a Cj I wouldn't bother unless statueform, and even then unlikely — because you're better off with your damage spells — you'll have to sink a lot of exp into the totally different combat style before it becomes better than your conjurations.

DCSS is ugly, boring, tedious, repetitive garbage with three basic types of spells (damage, buff, debuff) after having removed every other interesting spells and making the rest of the spells enemies only. There's hardly any incentive to dive or partial explore floors other than stroking one's e-cock, and the game design is all over the place without any clear objective in mind by the devs. They just remove or add or nerf whatever they feel like, without any consideration of the consequences. +5 is the highest they go from the in-town enchanter so i usually just take all the low-plus ones to +5 and ignore everything else

I really hate it when my ammo in Elona+ gets a -1 or -2 due to getting acid and I can't figure out how to put it back to +0. I don't know if it has any negative effect on damage rolls since it doesn't show anything tangible on the character page but it's still riling up my autism.

Thanks anon, worked great and played great.

This build really feels like a whole new game. Without monsters giving EXP everything moves much faster. You're even more incentivized to just run for it like a real Lovecraft protag would. I blazed through the whole game as a Rogue in a few tries without ever once picking up Cloud Minds.

Feels like all the enemies in general got stronger but easier to run from. The spiders are obvious but the corpses got buffed too. OTOH they also buffed ranged weapons so it's fair.

The new way of displaying health feels like a step down from the original. Muddled colours aren't a decent replacement for a good old health bar.

Nice to not have to worry about trapped chests. Having actual goodies hidden behind most secret doors makes exploration feel worthwhile.

Haven't found any real use for the changes to spells. Feels more like a nerf than anything, since most spells are impossible to cast safely by anyone other than occultist with all the spirit traits. It's a fun idea for new builds at least.

DCSS dungeon generation isn't even that good, its best feature is that there are so many vaults to place.
Look at Brogue for an actual example of good dungeon generation. Even IA does it better than DCSS (though it still leans heavily on vaults).
Brogue and IA also get the level size right where DCSS totally goofs.

I think Deflect Missiles shouldn't be in this game anymore because it's a no-brainer spell with no drawbacks just like Haste. You just leave it on to do its job, recast if it's gone and you basically gain a literally free Spriggan EV for one of the most prominent dangers for midgame casters. It's too boring, unintuitive, uninteresting and has no drawbacks just like rMut.

Basically, axes are king. While they have lower damage, you're often fighting multiples and before you get aura of abj it keeps summons bearable. Zerkitis and +rage is fairly easy to get so even going broad axe and shield isn't all that bad for a fiver
Long blades are pretty good if you're a minotaur or anything with high ev since you have a 25% or so of riposte when an enemy misses you.
Polearms are okay, the reach has some uses but it's eh
M&F are common

High fighting lets you hit with a wide variety of weapons even if it's slowly.
Pay attention to cross training. You can get axes for example and use the cross trained experience to use a +11 demon trident (elec) at 0.5 delay for free or minimal investment.

Large stacks of odina/jure/ the e thing potions, scrolls of name/oracle, stacks of deeds of storage house or other things miracle quality engagement rings/charms and other shit, large stacks of same material type normal engagement rings. Stuff of lesser quality, stacks of top quality bait sushi or garden food.
Keep working on your str by pickpocketing trees in hunting jobs. Around 200 pickpocket at night I think you could outright snatch it while under speed, heroism, concentration and they weren't too high level.

As always, if it's a stack, drop 1 by 1 until he no logner accepts the stack and pick 1 back up to save overtrading
