Found my first vehicle that needs no repairs to run on this character.

It may not have luxuries like an intact window, passenger door, headlights or a safe speed with any actual speed, but it works.

I think so, at least. The faulty water pump engine problem has no in-game effects, right? It starts and as far as I know vehicles can't overheat, unless it has a chance of causing engine damage when on or something.

GrFi is free Lair at the absolute least and since they have so much AC you can just wear a robe and branch out into all sorts of fun magic around Orc or so. For a felid, should I ever get strength on level up? Dexterity gives diminishing returns at some point if I'm not mistaken so would it help to increase strength at that point?

Dex gets stepped down when you hit 23, but keeps bring the most optimal choice until 31/33.
After that point, you're just wasting points.
Most people won't ever get near that even as a felid without +dex gear though, so you're safe.

+str on a felid is garbo because of just how much str you'd need compared to dex for it to be actually relevant with your UC.
In fact I would go as far as saying that unless you already have 31 dex on any character or are a DE with 3 str that wants to wear TLA, you should never statup with str. It's a terrible choice, even with the new numbers. The math is just against it.

Reflection on its own (without the SH bonus from the amulet) looks better than it actually is. All it does is make you not have to approach the archers, except you never have to, just go around the corner or dig a hole and they'll come to you themselves.

PCB Trump realm magic is better as a support realm for somebody with other ways of dealing damage, but it is possible. The thing is, your offense is going to be coming mostly from summons (which screw you out of xp) and devices (which take inventory space). Trump spells are relatively easy to cast, so it works well on things like Beastmaster, Rogue, etc which have other sources of offense.

It's kindof like Sorcery high mage: possible, but it means using a lot of devices.

Staves aren't actually bad weapons. Their gimmick is "good but twohanded" and they take very little skill to use effectively. Skill level 14 isn't even a whole Lair branch for most characters.

evocations are simply worse than the spells you cast with your mana, and have a cooldown timer. aside from the air evoker that can push enemies back they're pretty bad anyways.
while you certainly can train evo, it's just 10 times better to spend all that exp on something useful, like getting your lvl 6 spells online and high spellpower so you don't even need to consider using evocable since you just kill everything with 2 casts of iron shot.

Lot of strategy games, Dominions 4 is the big one for me right now. I've often thought that a lot of the Dominions 4 crunch and fluff would work very well in an RPG of some sort, and roguelikes would be a natural way to do that. It has some fairly unique systems, though, so I couldn't just reskin a *band or something.

Okay I've been trying to figure out my armor selection in DCSS. The knowledge bot mentions a "!armourdodgepenalty" command you can use to calculate it but where/how do I use that command? I feel like I might be missing something obvious for where to find this.

I really wasn't thinking of just playing as a regular human guy or anything. Just that the most fun I have in the game is often in gearing up a commander and getting them into adventures, even if I'm not following the MLG prostrats thugging guide or anything. I've often wanted a game that's just that.

The true most fun in Dominions is playing MA Ermor and drowning the world in skeletons.

I think a lot of the concepts could be carried over fairly directly. You've got races, some sort of class system, equipment slots, then somewhat non-standard stat and magic systems. Hell the nature of teleporting thugs around is sort of a way to throw the player into unexpected random encounters. Man you even have all sorts of different encounter types from classing dungeon diving, assassinating commanders, duels with powerful mages or SCs, raiding PD, or going full-on Dynasty Warriors with a vine shield and fire brand.

Shit this is actually a better idea than I thought at first. I once made a horribly inefficient FizzBuzz code, that basically makes me qualified for figuring out how to make a new game, right?

Of course, after a certain (very small) amount of changing things around it becomes a question of why you're beholden to the Dominions theme in the first place.

It's not actually bad, but terribly buggy, terribly slow, and unbalanced. The things that should improve with more recent versions (right?).

The lore is original as fuck despite ripping off Dune, the fucking around is quite fun and it's a roguelike that doesn't tryhard into having a definite direction that you either follow or fail to follow.
