Should I get the Stars and Stripes Nighthawk or the Red Devils Hornet, /aceg?

Red Devils looks cooler but it seems like kind of a dinky multirole for post-2000 rooms, even at high levels.

The Nighthawk on the other hand is an attacker and might get more mileage at higher levels, and it also has a good visage for showing off as MVP, if nothing else.

All right, just to make things clear regarding our roster, it will be almost the same as last time - people suggest new names (including former players), and the ones to cut. Might change the percentage for rejection depending on how many you want to cut so the top newcomers replace them accordingly.

This is our good ol' piratepad, go check and make suggestions if interested. I will make the poll based on that as usual. Let's keep it rolling for a week or so.

Regarding Anya, I've got in contact with /@/'s management and so far there's no problem on adding her, but I think it's not polite to start a generals turf war so we could shortlist her with an /aceg/ related name (Anya Emblem, Queen of /aceg/, whatever) and if she doesn't get in /@/ again we keep her name. This can all be discussed above
>>
>>156336091
Nemo, do we have a chance to battle /dsg/? If so, im interested to see the fight
>>
>>156336371
Signups are due in a few weeks. Then there's the groups draw, so it depends if they actually get a manager and sign up back (it didn't participate in VGL6). As this /dsg/ would be a pot 4 team so we could face them in group stage as a pot 1 team. It's all speculation though.
>>
>>156336091
Sounds like a plan.

>>156336371
VGL matches are based on a four-pot draw done about a week before the games start. There's a chance, but it depends on whether or not /dsg/ signs up, and then whether or not the commissioners rig together a match

This general is ded anyways, so out of curiosity what is your opinion of Mussolini and the fascist movement?

I’m not one of those “Hitler was the greatest man to ever live please come back and ravage my boipussy” types, but I’ve been doing some reading lately and the understanding I’m coming to is that the early fascist movement (distinct here from Hitler’s Nationalist Socialist movement) did not have a definitively racist component and was less economically socialist than Nazi Germany. If I understand right, the idea was to recover the glory of the Roman Empire, itself a distinctively multiethnic society. Jews were allowed to engage in politics in Fascist Italy, for example, before closer ties with Hitler drove Mussolini to adopt some of his racialist policies.

This is the history of your country, so if it’s wrong feel free to blow me out, but I am interested to hear the perspective of a native Italian on this. Germans talk all the time about Hitler (both for good and ill) but I don’t think I’ve ever heard an Italian talk about fascism before.

>>156341314
This, right here. Some boards are beyond fucking dead, and they're taking up unneccesary space and bandwidth at this point.
I'd also venture to say that some of the newer boards, like news and qst, really don't need to exist. They were a poorly thought out solution to relatively minor problems

Here everyone tend to see Mussolini as satan himself in most of italy because after fascism some tried to engage in actual russian communism, which is probably still doing damage.
Basically all the schools and instruction were in the hands of the left, which means that either you went on and did stuff yourself to know more on the matter or you could just parrot the shit they taught at school, which is an half truth at best.
The biggest problem with the party was the collateral violence of the exalteds, mostly because at the time the leading artistic movement for fascism was futurism, which was an exaltation of technology, strenght and violence.

To put it bluntly, it worked, without it we would have been africa-tier as of now.
Base ideology was to go back at the romans age where shit worked and everybody gave their all to make it work, and thanks to either goodwill, propaganda or sometimes violence
it actually did.
While opinions vary, I believe it did more good than bad to the nation, and we had no alternatives anyway.
Italy varies too much to actually work together, both the territory, people and cultures are too different to find a common goal, and we still hate eachother for squabbles happened in medieval times.
As for racism, it was kinda weird.
Until the germans actually came themselves the racial rules weren't really enforced when they could and even then they were less oppressive.
As for multiculturalism, areas like Istria and the Etiopian colony were pretty weird.
Istrians after the conquest were considered 100% Italians, but they were forced to Italianise their surnames to fit in.
post WW2 communism did the same while killing half of the population as a bonus.
The conquest of Abissinia was pretty bloody, but the quality of life there improved a lot, to the point we actually "wasted" a lot of money since we had no actual gains from that.

I got a cold just yesterday and I'm afraid I'm making not much sense

>He wants to delete /pol/

You get butthurt over a few small leakers that pop up in here. Imagine how bad it will be when they migrate en masse.

Hint:
It'll do as much damage to other boards as refugees are doing to europe.
>>
>>156344303
No, you're coming off just fine.

I mostly ask because it's become apparent to me that a lot of the problems the West currently faces stem from deficiencies of character and lack of faith in a moral code. The founders of America were pretty unanimous in the opinion that free society could only function if inhabited by moral people. Looking at the mess that currently surrounds us, I'd have to agree. Furthermore, freedom without morality not only creates awful effects, but also trends towards ending itself anyways. It's the most amoral segments of society that push for stronger government, and I think that's because even they understand on some level that if people cannot control themselves, the law must in turn control them.

If we want to preserve the maximum amount of freedom we can have, regaining a shared cultural moral code is an absolute must.

I'm interested to see if there could be a middle way between fascism and the Anglo-Liberal tradition, a balance that combines enshrined political rights and free markets with formal government recognition of an innate cultural identity and strict enforcement of moral codes, combined with youth programs to re-introduce traditional values into the population.

Part of the issue with that ties into the phenomenon with Mussolini you described: generations of leftist brainwashing has trained the entire population to react allergically to any mention of the idea that there are right and wrong ways to behave, and that people are compelled by duty to do the right thing, not just if they "feel like it."
>>
>>156346310
Here the entire governament is a joke big enough everyone knows.
Higher ups and mafia keep doing their shit, poor people remain poor and the middle class just gets poorer and poorer.
Keep in mind that before the whole fucking middle east and Africa decided to shit up the place we were already invaed by criminals from Romania, Albania and other borderly subhuman countries.
We are the only place in europe where it's legal to be nomad, an none of them has actual document or works.
Our entire governament is entirely run by corrupts, mafia men or straight up criminals, but nobody gives a shit.
A napolitean soccer player gets a red card and the population went in riots.
>>

>>
>>156346845
It's a mess, no two ways about it.

Europe has always been ahead of America in nearly every trend affecting the west, and this is likely where we'll be in a manner of years. This already sounds too familiar.

There are no easy ways out of our situation. Generations of westerners going through progressive propaganda centers in lieu of getting an actual education has made democracy useless for almost any purpose, good or ill. The political and financial elites understand this and distract the population with breads and circuses while introducing legislation to "help" the poor and in reality just strengthens ties between big business and politicians and walls off the elites from the rest of the population. American "democracy" is nothing more than a sham and this most recent displays that better than ever. The elites weeded out Sanders and nearly eliminated Trump. Even Trump himself demonstrates that not just anyone can run for president; you need money, and in an economy that is becoming more and more socialist you can't just work your way up the ladder anymore. Increasingly complex regulation and insane legal fees mean that it's not enough to have a good idea and a strong work ethic, you need money to make money, and if you don't already have money you can't make money. And if you don't have money you can't run for president. As a result, we have an aristocracy in all but name.

On the other hand, abolishing democracy carries it's own extreme drawbacks. On top of being abhorrent to the political traditions of the West, it also creates a very real danger of violent excesses against our enemies or perhaps running amok and destroying what we hold dear.

I don't know what the answer is. With that said, I've basically resolved that if the West is going to go down in flames either way, I'd rather head six feet under being able to say I did my damnedest to stop it.

On the other hand, Ace Combat has always had a sort of pseudo-political side to it, so it may not be entirely unrelated, and they're being civil about it, so I don't exactly want to say no, either.

But let's try to shift the focus back to planes. What prompted this discussion? Is there something up with the Italian air force?

No, it is not.

If you knew anything about cripplechan's issues with moderation you'd know that A. moderation does not increase board quality, and B. you can never underestimate the autism of people who have no lives outside of the internet.

There are people who will spend multiple hours a day manually spamming your site because they feel like it. To implement the kind of control you want you need strict control and who can post on the site. If you try to get done the sorts of things you want to get done using a registration-free site, all you will do is continually frustrate yourself and sully the waters for everyone else. Democracy does not guarantee anything. Democracy is a process by which decisions are made, not a guarantee about what kind of decisions are going to be made. Genocides and tyranny have occurred under functioning democracies.

Euros are not happy because they are being forced to cohabitate with barbarians who kill, rape and steal all that they hold dear and they are told they are racist if they object to it. No matter your feelings on white imperialism, punishing a great-grandson who has never lived during the time of imperialism and has never engaged in the behaviors you hate is not justice.

And asking the Europeans to be complicit in their own destruction deprives them of the most essential human right: that of life. The Europeans have every right to be angry and then some.

Of course not.

That's why i said "western representative democracy," (didn't figure i'd have to explain to you) which is a shorthand for, you know, the governments of the west. Most of which have laws guaranteeing human rights.

Also you seem insecure about the legacy of imperialism, which is hilarious because you brought it up without it even being mentioned prior to your post.
>>
>>156354947

>>156355770
Thing about democracy is that it doesn't work if the great majority of your population is retarded.
>>
>>156354947
It is under "western representative democracy" that so many human rights have been sacrificed on the alter of social justice, so you're not doing your argument any favors by calling attention to the fact that "western representative democracy" is what we currently have.

Personally I believe that colonialism was a moral imperative of a superior people and it is not a coincidence that crime, vice, and self-hatred set in over the exact same period that the West abandoned the colonial system. However, many people seem to see it as a great evil and argue that Europeans have an obligation to make up for the sins of their ancestors, which is why they must open the wealth of their countries to formally conquered peoples, no matter the consequences for the people who are living there here and now. I brought it up because many people who glorify "multiculturalism" and the destruction of European culture base their arguments out of colonialism, which is an invalid approach even if you abhor colonialism.
>>
>>156356671
To clarify, when you say superior people do you mean in a racial sense of white vs black and brown, or more in a sense of a more advanced society uplifting another?
>>
>>156356671
What the hell are you even talking about though?

What human rights have been sacrificed in any way relating to social justice? How do those concepts even relate at all? Are you equating people telling you not to be a racist asshole to a violation of your basic human rights?

>>156356879
Culturally. The Europeans were a superior people because of their moral compass and work ethic. Race had nothing to do with it. The fact that Europe was a barbaric, backwater region with no real civilized accomplishments during periods when China and the Middle East were centers of learning and civilization clearly indicate that race alone is not enough to hold true to civilization. This is the mistake that NatSocs always make; by equating race with civilization they blind themselves to the dangers of barbarism that lie in every society. The fact that the situation reversed and China and the ME became backwater while Europe emerged as a center of order and learning should indicate how delicate that civilization is.

Nor is the current predicament in Europe unprecedented from a historic scope. Many a great Islamic Empire fell because as the society became more wealthy, they became lazy, less disciplined and gave themselves over to vice and "compassion." Willingness to use military force in expression of national dominance go hand in hand with dedication to rule of law and civilized society; there are no known exceptions, modern Europe included.

If you'd bother to read the whole conversation you'd see that the conversation is not about fascism itself, but about finding a "middle-way" between fascism (dedication to cultural identity and rule of law) and Anglo-liberalism (civil rights and free markets).

When people get arrested for tweets, what has happened is that rule of law has been substituted for the rule of man: there are thousands of regulations and no one is really sure which ones apply when but there are enough of them that some social worker with a stick up her ass can arrest anyone for just about anything.

What is desirable is the opposite: there is a set a minimal, clear-cut rules covering the basics of what is needed to preserve and free and civil society, and they are enforced consistently across the entirety of society. If, for example, extra-marital sexual activity was criminalized, then this law should apply equally to all citizens, from the trashman to the president, and the punishments should be known beforehand and carried out accordingly.

The issue is not versus big versus small government (though having a small government helps significantly with maintaining the integrity of the law) but rather making sure that society is governed by laws that are blind, not people given to passions and grudges. That was the most central issue to where the fascist movements went wrong.

>>156358537
I'm sorry, I honestly did think you were shitposting. You know, minimal, clear-cut laws are exactly where most of these constitutions started, which is why I thought you were just pretending to not understand why current laws have been edited as they have been. Unfortunately, it's impossible to create such a "minimal laws" document. This is because technological and societal change occur, and nobody can forsee such happenings. Take, for example, slavery in the United States. I don't think humans should own other humans, as that limits the rights of the owned to an extraordinary degree. As well-intentioned as the founders of the US were, slavery was legal under the United States Constitution. This, obviously, required edits and additions to laws previously on the books.

"But this is just one edge case" you may say. Well, so is every case where the rights defined in a constitution are infringed on. Some legal blindspots exist, and therefore a mechanism must be in place to protect them. Thus, any document that intends to express rights, and then consistently protect those rights, must necessarily be edit-able. And with editing and additions being necessary, the document will as a result grow longer. That is why regulations exist.

However, in many places interest groups (LGBT community, corporations, etc) have the ear of the government. Why is this? Because they exist at the frontier of the laws, in those aforementioned blind spots. If the law is monolithic, unable to be added to, and blind, by extension it will be unable to protect the rights of all.

While social and technological changes do require altering the laws, they require extensions to cover new changes, not alternations in the fundamental role of the law. This is not what has happened. Marxist thought has influenced many generations of busybody bureaucrats and naive utopian reformers. Much of the perversion of democracy in which we now find ourselves is due not to enfranchised people voting things this way, but unelected officers appointed by underhanded politicians and special interests redefining fundamental provisions of the law without public consent. This occurs are precisely the same time as a dumbing down of public education occurs, and children are taught what to think and not how to think. As a result, most people in the West are not aware of the vast changes made to the legal framework without their knowledge or consent.

People being arrested for tweets in Britain shock many people, but these legal frameworks were created long ago, via redefinition of what constituted "danger to others" as a subset of "hate speech" that occurred in the academia and political circles, outside the view of public eyes.

We don't disagree on whether limited government is ideal; what we disagree upon is whether we still have it.

>>156370685
Completely, utterly, and entirely untrue.

Look at Affirmative Action college admittance policies. Aside from a very few politicians and bureaucrats, nobody benefits from this, least of all minority students. Many white and Oriental students, are turned down from prestigious colleges in favor of less qualified applicants. This does not help the college, the nation or the individual make the most of their talents. Conversely, many other minority students, who on the whole are less qualified due to worse high schools, are shunted upwards to a college bracket at which they are more likely to fail. Blacks and Hispanics were making greater economic gains before the 60s for a reason.

I like the idea.
Though it seems uncontrollable/too close to what Excalibur did (shooting rays of light from the skies)
Inb4 we get bullshit laser drones that can do "what the fuck" maneuvers.

Also good day
>>
>>156420886
It might be cool if instead of a single thing like excalibur, your radar instead looked like the 'avoid the radar mission' in 5. As in, there's more spots than could be struck than not.

Alternatively, 'climb above 35,000 feet to avoid the lightning storm.'

>>
>>156440593
I just need to get the emulator, then find out how to run either 4 or 5
>>
>>156440760
The emulator is easy enough. Go here and download one of them.

http://pcsx2.net/download/development/git.html

Next you need the bios. You can Google around for ps2 bioses and find them without too much issue. You put that in the bios folder of pcsx2.

You can find the isos for 4 and 5 on emuparadise.

To turn on the mipmap hack you need to go to the inis folder in pcsx2 and edit GSdx.ini. Add the line 'UserHacks_mipmap=1' without the quotes to the end of it and save. Then set the renderer in the gsdx settings to hardware and let it go. If this is too confusing I'll make an infographic sometime.
>>
>>156440382
I agree, it works, map textures aren't glitching anymore. Sadly, my 7 years old PC is too weak to run it stable. Most I'm getting is 25 frames, so it's basically unplayable for me.
>>
>>156442037
In all likeliness you can probably build a computer for less than $300 that can emulate all of them. Less than $400 for sure. I know you're in Europe so the prices are likely quite different there though.

>4chan pass members have shorter cool downs
what the fug
>>
>>156441186
what do i do with the isos of 4 and 5?
>>
>>156442247
I know, but I have some other stuff I need to collect cash for now. Anyways, it's great to see how emulation scene as a whole evolved over years. I still remember some tech wizards saying emulating PS2 won't be able at all. Not even talking about black magic running PPSSPP emu.
>>
>>156442412
In pcsx2 you can load a game in the menu. You just use that dialog to load either game. It should be CDVD -> load iso or something.

>>156442601
I mean it's still taken a damn long time. Look how much more mature dolphin is, and that is emulating a console of very similar age. That said, I think the 360 and ps4/xb1 should be a lot simpler.

I don't expect the ps3 to ever be well emulated, or if it is it will take at least as long as it's taken pcsx2.
>>
>>156442764
Man im sorry, i can't im a visual person. I will just stay in /wtg/ with Ace Combat Skins
>>
>>156442247

My $2,000 computer can barely emulate them acceptably.
>>
>>156442764
>dolphin
Shit, man. I almost forgot about it. That's one hell of dedication.

>ps3
Yeah, da powah of cell. On the other hand, I almost completely skipped the emulation progress on X360. Anyone tried do push it somehow?
>>
>>156442980
don't worry, I'll make an infographic or something of the like sometime. I'm busy today though, hopefully you can sit tight 'til then?

>>156443080
Emulate the ps2 ace combats in hardware mode, not software. There has to be something very wrong if you can't emulate even in software mode desu. Post specs.

>>156443090
Dolphin is really impressive both in how well it emulates and how good the project actually is. I think the Xbox emulator progress right now is slow but sure. I see posts about it on /r/emulation and the emulation general occasionally.
>>
>>156442980
CDVD-> iso selector -> browse

Now, choose the path for your iso and double click it. Now, go to

System-> Boot CDVD (full) or Boot CDVD (fast). Latter one will skip PS2 mandatory loadup animation.
>>
>>156440382
Anyone else still getting the problem in AC04 where the sun and some effects are drawn incorrectly? Skipdraw gets rid of it, but results in most effects not being rendered at all.
>>
Let's say, can a i3 with 4gb ram run it?
>>
Trying to run STALKER, stream it, and have a Web browser open at the same time has shown me that it's time for me to upgrade my comp.

Maybe I'll even be able to emulate ace combat once I do.

Is there a minimum specs for that?
>>
>>156443913
A strong Intel CPU and a decent GPU (either nVidia or AMD will do but nVidia has far superior openGL performance). For reference I have an i7 6700k at 4.5 GHz and that has no problem emulating ac5 and acz. 04 runs at ~90% full speed but if you ran it in PAL mode you'd be fine. My GPU (r9 290) lets me run in hardware mode at 3x internal resolution (1920x1344) without issue. Really it comes down to what your budget is, you can probably make emulation work inside your budget if you try.

>>156443665
yeah 04 has the most graphical glitches of them all. It's noticeable in the others but less so. In 5/z you get some weird trails when you pull a hard turn and the water looks a bit weird.

>>156443695
What graphics card?
>>
>>156444254
I have a 960 for the GPU currently, would that be enough?

I'm looking to upgrade the MB and CPU mostly, so I figure about $1,000 for those two would be my budget.
>>
>>156444554
That's quite a lot for that honestly. I built my whole computer for that much and it was more than enough. The 960 is decent but a bit older, though that shouldn't be a big problem for emulation. Since you've got the cash I'd say get an i7 6800k and a good LGA2011 motherboard. That'll set you back probably 500-600, maybe a bit more because you'll need to buy new RAM. Then just save the rest for when your GPU shits the bed.
>>
>>156444254
Intel HD 5500 onboard
>>
>>156445008
Right now I have about 64gb RAM, so I should be good on that.

Looking at the 6700k, if doesn't seem like it'd be that big of a performance upgrade from my current CPU.

How affordable are the 6-8 core CPUs these days? I think that might be the next step up if I can find a good motherboard to go with it.
>>
>>156445732
Don't fall for the 6+ core CPU meme. Per core performance doesn't get any better and may be even worse than quad core CPUs.
>>
>>156445008
>>156445732
Oh, misread 6800 for 6700, my bad.
>>

>>
>>156448713
This one: http://ark.intel.com/products/63698/Intel-Core-i7-3820-Processor-10M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz
>>
>>156445119
Probably not good enough but worth a try.

>>156445732
No, what I mean is that the new stuff uses DDR4 and you probably have DDR3.

>>156445970
Per core performance will be the same because of the way turbo clocks work and your multithreaded performance will be better for sure. Also, PCSX2 in software mode does benefit from many cores because the graphics is done on the CPU.

>>156448990
A 6800k would be a noticeable improvement but honestly the 3820 isn't that bad. You have it overclocked? If not you should probably do that some before upgrading, the 3820 is still very good.
>>
>>156449125
I've had it overclocked to 4.2ghz, but honestly it has been more or less continuously running since 2012 and is starting to fail. Right now I'm running it at 3.7ghz.
>>
>>156449125
How do I check if it's DDR3 or 4?

Assume I don't have the packaging or purchase slips.
>>
>>156448990
why do you want to upgrade?
keep in mind that you'll definitely need to get new RAM since the standard has changed (DDR3->DDR4)
also you probably won't notice a huge difference in performance if you're just using it for vidya
I'm running an old FX-8350 OCd to 4.5GHz paired with a GTX970 and 16GB of RAM and my machine can handle TW3 smoothly at high settings

>>156449283
oh, in that case go for an i5 6600k with an Asus Z170 and OC the shit out of it
make sure you get a proper cooler too

>>156449402
it's DDR3 because that CPU is not compatible with DDR4
>>
>>156449283
In that case I'd say get the 6800k since you can afford it.

>>156449402
The 3820 only supported DDR3.

>>156449465
desu he's got the cash, I still think he should get the 6800k just for the extra 2 cores.
>>
>>156449465

>>
>>156455927
that's strange, I experience basically no slow down with obs on a 6700k.

Why X-split for PC Games, just curious?
>>
>>156456614
Just works better. Easier to set up.

People have commented that it's a lot smoother using xsplit.
>>
>>156457369
fascinating. I've just always used OBS but I should maybe look into that sometime.

What I really want is a streaming software that can pull audio streams directly from the game. Steam manages to do this so surely it's possible.

Xsplit can do that, I believe.

I've not bothered with it, but I think I saw that in the options.

You can play the game off the DVD. Seriously, you're being such an immense sperg over being told that piracy can be bad and hurt small studios. I really legitimately don't give a shit if you pirate or not, but the fact that it's bad for studios is self evident. You have to be incredibly delusional to think otherwise. What you're doing right now is trying desperately to draw attention away from the fact that you're a cunt who's telling people to pirate a game because a studio did something you didn't like. That's retarded, and you're retarded for suggesting it.

Ok, I just tested all 3 of the PS2 Ace Combats on the new PCSX2 build. It's woth mentioning that these tests were done with the physical disks, although the isos should work fine.

All games were played with 3x scaled resolution with the OpenGL Hardware render (D3d seemed to cause some odd glitches) All games had the Allign sprites Hardware hack enabled. Without it there are 6-9 black vertical bars on the screen.

PC Specs: I5 4460 @3.20 Ghz, GTX 960, 8GB DDR3 RAM

Ace Combat 04: Still has some textures that look like jpeg artifacting in the menus, and the player's plane is pitch black. Other than that it seems playable, runs at a good framerate and missiles do connect explosions look a bit off as well, but that may just be the game itself, I don't remember.

Not off to a promising start.

5 is much better. The only bug I encountered was a bunch of narrow black bars on the cutscenes. The game itself runs well, and does look really nice. One anon mentioned a bug with the helicopters, I'll have to look into that when I get far enough in to run into helis. (Give me 20 minutes or so)
>>
>>156564514
You can actually see in that image there seem to be some sort of bug with the edges of sprites. Note the edge of the plane/missile sprites in the bottom right and the target/time markers. These are so small as to be basically unnoticeable.

You can see the new hangar mode here and the updated smoke graphics now that we have some performance to spare. Mod support for aircraft is now in, all you need to do is to drag and drop a folder with the correct files into the aircraft library and the game will recognise it.

In addition if you try to connect to a server that has a mod aircraft you don't have yet, the game won't crash but instead it'll ignore the physical model and use the targeting box only. Currently the extrapolation lag mitigation technique we've been trying are a little broken, but that will be fixed soon.

Next up, special weapons, takeoff/landing (Su-35 modeller randomly decided to do the animations for it so eh why not) and more server/client communication bullshit

>so if you play it in this view

I'm relatively new to /aceg/ (or talking to anyone else that plays Ace Combat at all, 'cause I don't fucking know anyone) - so whats the consensus on preferred view mode?

Personally I prefer cockpit view. Sometimes I switch to HUD only though, if you're trying to fly a plane with a really obstructive cockpit or one of the ones where the canopy kind of tints the view on a night mission or something. Also I just hate the way the F-22 cockpit looks...

So do y'all fly third-person? Seems like everyone putting stuff on YT certainly does.
>>
>>156571267
Depends on how autistic i'm feeling.

If i'm playing a Simulator run, i'll stick in cockpit mode. If it's a speedrun, HUD-only mode. Just for fun? I like to do ground attacks in 3rd or HUD and air combat in cockpit view when you get actually close.
>>
>>156571525
Arent you always full autismo
>>
>>156571267
I like the cockpit view, partially because it's cool, but mostly because the sights in the cockpit make it way easier to aim with guns. Especially in higher difficulties where the AI remembers that sharp turns are a thing.
>>
>>156571267
I usually prefer 3rd person just because it's how I played it as a kid and therefore feels more authentic to me
I'll usually use cockpit or hud mode for tunnel runs though

Same. Gonna bust a nut if AC7 has all the dash lights/instruments and shit animated/working.

>>156571631
Its kind of opposite for me - I always played in HUD mode playing AC2 and 3 as a kid, so third person feels unnatural to me. Feels unnatural still, desu - I see y'all doing those cool backflips and shit in third person while you've got the camera tracking the target - took me ages to learn how to do that stuff effectively.

>>156572413

You mean from cockpit view, tracking the target with the right stick? Yeah thats how I prefer to do it. Nothing more awesome than rolling over and knowing just when the target is gonna flick past the front of your plane so you're ready in advance to fire once it locks. So satisfying.

Things are kinda dead here so I may as well ask - how many of you guys have played ACX: Skies of Deception and AC: Joint Assault? I emulated them for the first time this past week or so, and Skies of Deception was pretty rad. Obviously the controls are a bit more limited because of the one stick, and one set of shoulder buttons, but it didn't take long to adjust to.

Regarding ACX, the story was alright, although the voice acting was terrible. I really liked how the missions would play out differently depending on the order you chose to approach them. That, and the variety of missions were pretty good, and they even managed to bring in a couple of other neato mechanics (tuning parts, that microwave weapon at the end). All in all I dig it, good game. Played through it back-to-back on Normal/Hard/Ace to see as many of the different alternate paths as I can.

I'm about seven missions into JA now, though and I don't know if I'm just biased against it because of the real-world setting, but I'm not liking it at all. The missions seem to be heaps slower/simpler so far, even in spite of the fact that they whipped Spiridus out in the second damn mission, and I'm only getting B ranks when I'm literally going as fast as my plane will allow me to. Is it meant to be co-op? I keep seeing a number of players referred to in the briefings, and the subtitle is "joint assault", so...
>>
>>156644915
JA has some really weird scaling going on, and was built around Co-op capabilities, so you're pretty much on target with your suspicions.

ACX is limited mostly by the fact that it's on a portable device. It's otherwise a very serviceable AC game
>>
>>156644915
Played both and pretty much agree with what you have to say about both. My biggest gripe with X2 was that they changed the hold-triangle lock from what it always is to that weird over-the-wing thing it is.
>>
>>156645483
>ACX is limited mostly by the fact that it's on a portable device. It's otherwise a very serviceable AC game
Yeah, I mean I went into it with pretty low expectations (not sure why, now that I think about it) but I was honestly really impressed.

>pretty much on target with your suspicions
Ah, good. Glad its not just me. I'm gonna play it through anyway, but yeah - so far I'm not really enjoying it.
I probably let how much I enjoyed ACX get my hopes up for it a bit, though, which can't have helped.

The SPW loadout is 2meta/10. Given enough levels 6AAM allows you clean up air targets quick and you get LASMs at lvl 7 meaning they're already good once you unlock them. I've never used QAAMs in any TDM but I assume they're okay as backup missiles.

Probably the only reason you don't see them too often is because they don't really have an effective way to clear up a large amount of ground targets but over all its a good plane.

Morning fellas! So what's on the agenda for today?
>>
>>156644915
X is a brilliant AC game. The voice acting and scaled-down-for-PSP graphics let it down in terms of presentation, but you're spot on about everything else that makes it great.

Joint Assault has multiple issues.
They implemented this silly 'Close Range View' mechanic; essentially, they made all the aircraft models five times bigger (so it's easier to see them at close range), but didn't scale the speeds or distances to match, which completely kills any sense of velocity, and makes AoE weapons like the FAEB useless.
The enemy placements are ridiculously linear (first halves of Desert Dawn and the Balaur mission), or just plain BS with multiple bogeys appearing less than 1km away from the thing you're trying to protect, despite the entire map being clear of enemies.
Sulejmani is a poorly designed boss fight What makes it worse is that many of the mistakes they made with him, were avoided or pre-empted when they designed Pixy's fight for a game made four years earlier.

-MIRV Missles
-MGP that shoots small, unguided missles
-Laser MGP, extremely fast, small laser "projectiles"
-Fast-firing EML (Like, 4 of them, shooting at a rate of 1 shot-per-second)
-Exploding Chaff-likes, they scatter behind you mid-air and if someone shoots a missle/GUN it explodes in a vast area
-Modified MGP acting like a shotgun: half range but more damage and covered area
-Maybe some kind of tacked on thrusters that can give you a huge burst of movement/mobility
-EMP bombs dealing no damage but entirely disabling a huge area, including extremely low-altitude planes
-Stealth pods

If we want to go even more Belka:
-Something that creates a stormcloud, similiar to the Fenrir in X, but bigger
-Laser-cross bombs
-Huge LASMs with grinding heads that can perforate a ship's hull and fuck up the one immediatly behind it as well

Supposedly, your wingmen prioritize different targets, depending on the A2A and A2G values of their aircraft (IE: sticking Grimm in a FB-22 will make him ignore air targets if there are any ground targets).

I've found them to be useless with SAAMs, and any SP weapon that isn't guided.

all of these are cool but either mentioned above or would fall into already existing weapon archetypes. I like the idea of a burst airmine for self defence though.

Pretty much, but a belt-fed, GAU-8 shaped rocket laucher, thus much cooler.

Why has nobody suggested a gun drone SpW? Would be baller as fuck to deploy one or two drones that stick right with you and shoot at anything that gets close

Target designating laser pod.

Before the mission you select a form of off map support (or it varies depending on map). This could be sub launched harpoons, air launched cruise missiles from a nearby B-52, 2,000lb bunker busters from an orbiting b-2, etc.

You point the weapon at a target much like TLS, however you need to hold the weapon on target for several seconds before the weapon impacts.

Key concepts of the weapon should be high accuracy, unlimited ammo, long reload time, and cumbersome to use.

You likely already have wingmates who you can press up on the dpad for the same effect.
>>
>>156778540
I was thinking something a little flashier and effective than wingman assists, or really any weapon the PC aircraft can carry, while also more fully controllable.

See that shiny sp P-38 in Infinity? He shoot down more than 40 japs in that. Insanely popular, enough to say he died in a jet fighter test flight the same day Hiroshima was bombed and the next day he made the front pages along the nuke news.

It's pretty disgusting.

Between disconnects, getting kicked by "aces" to make way for 1300 nuggets and butthurt hosts canning the match halfway I estimate I can finish about 1 in 5 missions to completion.

Half the time I spend in this damn game is just me trying to find and finish matches. I don't spend that time actually playing or even planning out future projects.

AC7 can't come soon enough. Even if it sucks I'll play it till my hands rub raw if I don't have to deal with any of this network, online-only crap.

Hopefully it's not like Metal Jew Solid V in that regard.

So it's clear that AC7 may be a while, and they'll probably keep Infinity up to keep milking it for every last cent they can get, meaning up until AC7's release or soon before.

The question is, what happens to Infinity at the end of it's life cycle? What about that stuff they teased with the Red Mobius emblem and all that jazz? Are the prepping content behind the scenes to give the game a nice sendoff before they close it down? Or are they just going to pull the plug one week with a "thanku very muchu fror your shekerus, goyim-kun" message?

>>156791360

Nah, just the sidewalk entrance to the stairs by like an inch or two, but that always happens when it rains because it was badly designed/made. I've been through Katrina and Wilma, this Matthew is a joke.
