For air battles come in as close as you can and shoot in busts of two maximum. Generally air battles aren't fun because wiggle niggers will just glitch through your shells, but some people can do very well.

Shermans did struggle against Panthers/Tigers, but they weren't these foil tinderboxes just waiting to explode at first notice.

The T-34 was a good tank design at the cost of basically barbaric crew conditions, which is typically the operational norm for the USSR. I vaguely recall some statistic that even mentioned crew losses due to the fuckers bumping their heads in T-34s.

A lot of the Sherman's bad rap comes from shit books like Death Trap, History Channel, "muh T-34 won the war" and "german tanks best tanks" propaganda, armchair generals, etc. It's semi-similar to how the M3 Lee gets a lot of bad rap after we shoveled some left-overs to USSR when it was out of date, despite the Lee dominating North Africa and shitting on Panzer IIIs.
