I'm legitimately convinced that there's something about how you kill an enemy that effects it's drops.
I noticed this after doing some testing on the Greataxe guy at high wall on a new build. Killing him with R1 mashes got him to drop a Greataxe after about 20 odd kills.

Killing him with parry finish not only got the greataxe instantly the first kill, but I got another 2 in those same 20 something kills.

I did more farming later for Dark Gems on the Pus of Man. Killing him with Fire, his weakness over and over and over again got me nothing but titanite shards. The one time I finished him with a Dark damage weapon (Deep Axe) he drops the Dark Gem. Then another a short time later.

So I decided to test on silver knights. So far as I can see, killing them with parries didn't seem to do much here, but I noticed something else, so I tested it. My belief is that it's "overkill damage" or a specific damage type to that enemy that affects drops.

Killing Silver Knights with sword R1 mashes only, 30 kills, 300 disc
>6 Torso pieces, no helms, 1 shield, 6 leggings, 1 Gauntlet, 23 large shards

With Greataxe and finishing with Charge R2's for overkill damage, 30 kills, 300 disc
>No Torso pieces, 7 helms, 6 shields, 2 leggings, 5 Gauntlets, 34 large shards and 2 Concords

I've noticed the Concords drop alongside Large Shards and a piece of armour pretty much every time. This even happened when I got a conchord without ANY item find gear, as though there was a sudden burst in "item find" and I got a big drop of multiple things.

My quality build can only get 35vig with 27/40, and that's with only 22end and everything else at base.

I suppose that's fine for a straightsword, but it's lacking for most quality meta weapons and most weapons in general. A pure dex build with twinblades could bully my stamina into submission if I tried to use a BKGlaive, for example, because I just don't have enough to abuse staggered R1s properly. Carthus sword is right fucked because low stamina cripples it hard.

The Great Satan at sl80 is still pure luck Anri's, as you can afford like 40 vig and END on a 400AR straightsword with passive regen. Fortunately you don't see that too much anymore because most tryhards stick to 120

going from 40 to 45 vigor is only a 4% increase at the cost of 15% more damage taken. That's like a net loss of 11% HP in exchange for 5 useless points on vit and then 5 points on end. Any +5 stat ring is better at that SL.

Better to just use favor and life for a sum of 15% more HP. From 39 vig, you go up to 1801 HP. With 44 vig with just life, you also can hit 1801. For reference, 99 vig without rings gives you 1820. They're insanely better than the chain.

Dark Souls 3 feels like a Demon's Souls than a "Dark Souls" per se, since it mostly has focus on good combat gauntlets that feature often challenging terrain but the pacing of checkpoints is kinda off and too forgiving.

DS3 seems like it's much more rarely actively seeking to dick the player over like DS1 and focuses more on bread and butter combat which it admittedly does well, using enemies in effective combinations that take level design into account.

Most of the meta weapons are actually kinda cool, and when you;re so unironically bad at using them that they don't feel overpowered at all, they just turn into kinda cool weapons

Gotthards in the hands of a retard are just a neat pair of swords. I don't mind that Majongles uses them.

It's all about playstyle and competence, really. Someone like Vincent can use a carthus sword and get away with it as long as his connection's not too bad that day, but other FCgoers can unironically make a fucking cathedral ugs feel like it's cancerous metashit. It's all in the playstyle.

They're not that hard but they're not fun to fight against. Lothric Knights, on the other hand are chivalrous as fuck with UGS wielding ones are my fav enemy to fight against. Too bad the swords we swing are slow through, I would definitely love to swing them as fast as they do. The way their strikes flow are full of grace despite swinging a weapon that doubles as a greatshield.
