the western twitter SK fans annoy me a lot because they do the same thing with art. every #waifuwednesday post or #senransaturday or whatever is pretty much always a mix of cards, promo art, and unsourced fanart. the funny thing is that >>155159116 is correct. they moved to twitter because, by doing so, they're hoping that people will RT their art straight from the source...except they don't. they still just take the art and repost it themselves.

tumblr is almost as bad. there was one guy who was doing the same thing people on twitter do, but they seem to have stopped for the most part. i don't mind the search function. some tips, though... you can search multiple tags as long as you add a # to the search. so for example "#senran kagura #(whatever girl)" or, you can do tumblr.com/tagged/(whatever) and that works a bit better in some cases. (this was the old search function but they replaced it with the shitty search function but left the old method intact)

tumblr is bad because the people who work on the site have no idea what they're doing and the site is basically held together by the equivalents of duct tape and glue because tumblr doesn't want to spend a dime on anything and the reason they've gotten harsher about deleting things is because they don't want to pay for hosting. twitter is absolute shit though. lots of dumb, unnecessary changes made to make the site look flashier but its just slow as shit, clunky, and finding anything on that site is awful because the site is slow, clunky and navigating through it is a fucking pain in the ass. if you want something from a week ago, better hope that the account isn't active. otherwise you're going to be looking for a while.

you can definitely search under those tags, but people can tag things very differently among themselves. sometimes you'll see stuff like "#hikage senran kagura" under one tag. and yeah, there are occasions where a post might not even be tagged.

to my understanding, the "new" search function on tumblr aimed to make it so that even if a post /wasn't/ tagged, you could find it as long as the caption had whatever word you were looking for. but it's hit and miss and doesn't account for times where they didn't put a caption.

To be fair, SV (at the time) was just a simple spinoff for some fun, and SK2 actually tried. EV is the only real offender here, since it's a blatant cashgrab.

Because SV was just a fanservice spinoff (at the time). Even Takaki himself had said that the Vita games were supposed to just be for the fanservice, while the 3DS games were the main games. However, sales have obviously changed this, which is why EV now has the multiple universes thing going.

Anon, you seem to be missing the entire point. SV was indeed a spinoff game. It was absolutely fine for that. EV on the other hand is now encroaching onto the "mainline" in terms of canon and what is a spinoff and what isn't a spinoff. If EV ended with "oh this is just some goofy shenanigans pay no mind to it in terms of canon", we'd be peachy. The issue here is that EV has basically dropped a big "fuck you" on Burst/SK2 with it's multiple universes bit. Given the sales of SK2 and EV, it is VERY likely we'll be seeing games just ignore SK2 entirely and say "whatever the universes merged and now EV is the main story".

But while SK2 was probably better than both, it was also more frustrating to me because it had enough time and money and ideas to be great. But it botched most of the execution with a messy story, even shorter than SV missions, a bunch of baffling gameplay decisions, and scattershot pacing.
It dumping a bunch of unique bosses on you at the end is especially strange to me when the entire midgame is a monotonous grind of the same encounters that could have really used one of those unique bosses thrown in.

Nah. SK2 plot was good and the perfect follow up to the themes and characterizations set by Burst.

Missions being shorter is because they were designed around co-op, and the pacing was fine.

Chapter 1 streamlined Burst's ending, Chapter 2 gave closure to the Crimson Squad story with Hebijo, Chapter 3 was devoted to Naraku and Kagura's introduction, Chapter 4 was a breather episode to give some focus to the different couples and add the series' signature fanservice and Chapter 5 was the culmination of Naraku and Kagura's plot.

SV really only reused the Hanzo Story. Gessen and Hebijo are still new albeit simple and Crimson is totally new to the series. And above all that it introduced the heart stories to the series.
The combat was speedy and flowed nicely and didn't come off as a downgrade after burst, and there was scarcely any needless fanservice outside of the heart stories.
And the SV looks better than the vita version of EV. The vita version of EV is a horribly lazy port.

Meanwhile in EV, the overarching plot can be summarized in half a sentence. The driving force of EV's story was Ryoubi and Ryouki relationship, Miyabi's mother and Kurokage and even then that's only a fraction of the game since most of the missions are just stupid fanservice and slice of life nonsense. And half of the heart stories are reused from either SV or BA.
The gameplay is clunky and slow compared to any other game and feels like somebody described SV's gameplay to an alien and had them do the combat.
And I honestly even struggle to call the customization in EV good because it has no fucking outfit variety compared to SV and BA.
Sure you can do a lot with what you have and the diorama mode is fun but that's not enough to make a game good.
