You get an absolute shitload of orbs from events these days. The free majors for first time daily dungeon clears are enough to hone the essentials to the point where you can clear everything up to at least +++ in no time at all. I've played two extra global accounts and JP, and on all of those accounts I had all the Breakdowns at usable levels, R3-R4 Curaga and, Protectga, Shellga, Lifesiphon and an assortment of 3* spellblades in 2-3 weeks and was clearing everything except Ultimates within a month.

I started playing 3 months ago and I can clear U/U+ content for a little over a month now. Never spent a dime before you go there, I feel like I have everything I need to keep progressing as long as I don't want to do some very specific stuff like nightmare dungeons that barely pay off anyway at this point.

I did no grinding on those accounts. I wasn't very meticulous about spending my stamina (I mostly just had the extras so I could do more pulls because drawing 5*s feels good), was clearing core dungeons at a sluggish pace and didn't do any dailies except for the first time clear and one or two Sundailies. All I had to do was clear events. That's not grinding: that's playing the game.

RK is not without its problems but you're using the wrong word. RK makes you wait, but it isn't a grind at all. BE has crazy events that you have to farm over and over and over for a week or two that you must grind out to get the reward from.

By contrast, RK has many more smaller events, all relatively easy to clear that give you the materials you need, albeit slowly. You can call it a different kind of grinding if you want, but it's really just semantics at that point

how new of a player are you? RK has been out for a hell of a lot longer, so yeah, there is a ton of normal dungeons (I've been playing for about 9 months and have a long ass way to go in dungeons, cause they take a lot of time). but all the events should have you to +++ in a month or so. Then you just need to be patient and wait for SG, SS or Shout. Once you get one of them you are clearing all but nightmare/mote dungeons.

The only way RK is more time consuming is if you are about a month new and doing a ton of new dungeons. And yeah, you need to do them cause you need the mythril but it can get boring.

Full Break R2 should be first priority. St Cross is better than Powerchain, and better than all other 5*s if you have holy boost armor (weapons that boost holy are less good because you will switch for RS unless you have no other options).

Powerchain R1 is a decent skill, however. I bring it along with LS when I'm not doing CM, but it has noticeably less impact than St Cross.

Dark Zone is another great 5* you should think about if you have the orbs. I believe there isn't overlap in costs with the other good skills and DZ/MM is both self-sufficient and equally or more potent than St Cross.

this ability discussion reminded me I am yet to craft Full Break in JP, and to hone a shitton of abilities, and this caught my eye, the complete list of characters that can use FB, so Support5, you'd think more characters could run that but damn, are there any characters that get Support5 though record dive?

When you have native Shout do you Break or Shout first? I'm guessing it depends on how scary you think the boss is?
Also, in this example, Ramza is the only breaker.

With Sheepsong, Exdeath Armor, and Synergy Rod, my Exdeath was hitting damage cap twice with Dark Zone WITHOUT momento mori damage bonus.

Is it a mistake to bring both Ramza and Fran in RK? I pulled Shout but don't have FB yet, Fran with Mako gets to overload first turn for full break, then spam other breaks which quickly refills mist overload which usually lasts for the whole battle. Is Ramza strong enough that I can warrant the lack of another DPS

It's for a really good character, with access to Lifesiphon and several other top ability classes (Dragoon gives him some elemental coverage and if you RD him, the Dragoon combos; Knight gives him 2 more elements and some great damage options; and Samurai is great for AoE fights and in the future gives him a stackable ATK buff option). He is also a fairly popular character, that contributes to the hype and is also a positive because it means he won't be easily forgotten by DeNA (meaning he'll keep on being amongst the first to get new MCs, regular events where he has synergy, other useful SBs, etc).

It provides utility. Just being a BSB is a plus since burst mode comes with stat buffs and the commands means you can use not so well honed abilities. The true utility however comes from the Sentinel effect with inbuilt Tautaliate, worst case scenario the boss only does AoE and you at least increased Gilgamesh's DEF, best case scenario your nullifying several of the bosses moves and turning them into damage against him all without wasting a single slot. (The worst thing about the Tautaliate setup in my opinion is its low damage potential, which makes it not worth it unless the boss has an abundance of ST phy stacks trough out the whole fight, but with Gilgamesh's BSB there's no reason not to take it.) His other command is also a Dispel, which can save you another slot and also does good damage.

The banner it's on contains several other good relics. It's never worth it to chase a single relic and that's why Gilgamesh's BSB being surrounded by several solid consolation prizes is another plus. I managed to get every single item in the banner but Bartz Excalibur and I'm really happy with my draws.

So, I am a relatively new Exvius player, and I'm not really familiar with some of the systems and events yet. I have generally been using friend points for normal summons as I get them, and consuming the ones I wouldn't want trust rewards from for experience for the guys I actually use.

Am I better off saving the points for special summon events? Or should I summon all I can and try for more interesting trust mastery rewards from the lower tier characters?

Depends. FP units are really bad, but some have passable TM rewards. One thing to remember is that even the "good" FP unit TM rewards are kinda mediocre in the end. For example, Rizer gives HP +10%, which is pretty good, but we've had the chance to get HP +15% from other sources. A few months down the line, it'll be even less valuable.

FP summon events usually just give you exp/gil, which aren't even that useful eventually. Basically, FP summons aren't worth that much ever, even during an event. There's a reason it's free. whether you spend your FP as you get it or save it up for an event, you won't miss anything major. Personally I'm saving mine up, largely because I don't care about pulling FP units.

Yes, you kill Tyro a billion times to upgrade the RK cards. The high attack, low break cards are breddy gud when maxed. You can see archmages dealing 100k+ on a broken Ifrit, and that was before they allowed the cards to be augmented to 4*. As an attacker mage, I'd want to see Sentinel's, and a strong healing spell on you - The healing spell is mostly superfluous, it's there for when shit goes south and everyone in the party needs 1500 HP stat. Usually when I or the Breaker fuck up and he doesn't die first break like he should.

Aside from that, Artemis can help the downtime but as long as the breaker isn't shitty then as soon as the Guardian goes down it's all about surviving until that break. I'd personally rather see Faith, as I'd rather bring something else, but I usually take it anyways since most healers aren't that well coordinated.

We get guaranteed 5* in October apparently, so doing 11x pulls around then will improve the quantity of your 5* stuff, if not necessarily the quality. Buster Sword isn't really bad, just old. People were thirsty for it back in the day since Cloud was a power character early game. The only thing wrong with it is that it came out earlier so it has less damage on it. Such is power creep. You probably want to look at things like AOE heals, hastes, buffs for the party, when starting out new right now.

Man, it's a really welcome surprise to see how much Tidus has grown so far as a character, how he interacts with people now and how much more considerate of other he became, considering he was some edgy petulant child with daddy issues when this rodeo started.

I hope Wakka gets some growing too, because so far he has too little redeeming qualities to excuse how shitty he portrays himself to be as a person.
