It's a port of the mobile version which means it's missing some maps and customization options that were gutted from it.
And it also runs at a bad frame rate although it is only turn based so it's not too big a detriment.
But it's still XCOM and functionally is great so still lots of fun.

On the fence over whether to play the original Sora no Kiseki series or to play Evolution. Anyone played both who could provide input?

Superficially, original artist's work seemed to have more character. Also been my experience with stuff like Majora's Mask 3DS that while the remake has a graphical coat of polish over it some things were either lost or added, a mixture of good and bad. But ultimately, with the remake feeling unnecessary and not convincingly an improvement.

The childhood friend heroine started off the game in a relationship with a rich medical student, and when you dated her at the same time. So she was literally two-timing.

When the protagonist starts getting really uncertain that this is actually OK, she keeps telling him it is.

It also didn't help that many of her early to mid affection events were literally the rich medical student having foreplay with her, CG of him fingering her included.

Then when her bboyfriend actually confronts her on the whole cheating thing, he breaks up with her and wishes her all the best in her relationship with you, because lo and behold, he's actually a good person.

Then it turns out she's not a vrigin (which you should have seen coming) and she spends much of the first H-scene telling you how much she loved her old boyfriend and it's honestly surprising elf wasn't burnt to the ground by angry otaku.

The MC treats her 100% as just a friend for half the game and then one day she just kinda up's and changes her mind and switches from the med student guy to you. It didn't even feel like any kind of accomplishment because of the way it went down. (You can't even use any of the after-date kiss/fondle commands with her prior to that point because if you pick them, MC-kun complains at you that he's not interested in her that way.)

But there's 8 other characters besides Tamaki and it's a great game overall if you just forget about her.

The protagonist wasn't thinking of them as having romantic dates, just hanging out as friends like they'd always done. From Tamaki's perspective she probably was subconsciously trying to keep protagonist as a spare boyfriend but he himself wasn't thinking that way.
But that's precisely why I found it boring. If protagonist-kun had actually gotten worked up and gone into "steal her away" mode (kinda like the way he declared he'd win over Nanase) that could have been fun.
