The class is fatally flawed.

I've played mage throughout most expansions and this is by far the absolute worst one atm.

It seems to get better with gear, but as a baseline we're awful shitters out of the box compared to literally every other class/spec.

Massive numbers issues on top of a mechanical issue.
See, we're tuned to be "equal" on patchwerk fights to melee and more mobile DPS classes but there isn't a single fucking patchwerk this expansion so far so in reality we're just subpar shitters and that's not cool.

With current mechanics mages (and the other casters who get gimped by movement and stuff) should have the potential to do at least double their current DPS on patchwerk fights to compensate for all the movement necessary this time around.

If a melee can train a boss for 200K DPS, and a mage can only turret cast 200K dps, any movement clearly shoves the mage down on the meters without affecting the melee and that's simply not cool.

Everyone is shitting on Warlock, and I see where the complaints are from with Demo/Destro. Empowerment is boring and Destro is too RNG.

But Affliction seems as good as ever. Hell, it seems better than usual. The new 'tanky caster' thing Warlock has going is most obvious with afflic, all of their DoTs are instant cast, they have a DoT as a spender, and Soul Effigy is an amazing way to make a multidotting spec have some single target punch.

My only issue with them is that their Artifact relies FAR too much on having adds to burn for it's abilities. Other than that, they seem pretty good right now.

Except maybe in flat numbers.

I'm really confused. When I pool energy outside of dance to get the max amount of strikes inside of one charge, I actually LOSE dps then if I was just dancing away every charge instantly and shadow striking as much as possible.

So I've tried and played every class and spec in the game and I hate them all.

What the fuck should I play?

At this point I just keep ending up logging onto my prot warrior just because it's 110 and has its order halls time gate bullshit completed and I know how to play it decently. But it's still boring as fuck tanking.

The only other thing I'm considering at the moment is a rogue but fuck me is it a bitch to level up as DPS and not be able to just pull 14 mobs at once.

Considering just quitting the game and playing something better because I just can not find a class I enjoy. But I feel like I should at least do one raid and finish it on mythic difficulty while it's relevant.

Sub rogue dps is literally all about timing your energy pooling properly. Once you get the hang of it, it'll feel really smooth, but it comes down to dancing on the dot of hitting 100 energy exactly.

Also don't use shadowblades until you've dumped your cp, and use vanish to refresh symbols when you can instead of losing that energy in a dance, and make sure 5cp nightblade is up at all times.

Do those things, and by the time you're i850 you'll be pulling near 300k.

Doing heroic Maw of souls for a daily that awards mythic, tank and other 2 dps die to heyla's breath attack, me a fury warrior and the healer take the boss down. That was an intense time, nearly died a few times due to enrage. But still lived.
