I disagree. I think overall disdain implies people were absolutely hating the game, dropping it, not recommending it, etc .

I feel like it was a diamond in the rough. Quite rough. Yes, the netcode blew, yes the bugs sucked, etc. But I feel like even then it was unique enough that it retained a loyal audience that was sticking around hoping for fixes. And I'm really happy the devs have been diligently polishing it (even though of course it's not perfect)

Also I'm honestly surprised at the devs' competence given the rotten system they are working in. They are employed by Ubisoft (a hell hole of a company that only cares about their AAA titles like The Division, Watch Dogs, etc), who has barely helped them sell their game. They have to maintain patch parity of PC with consoles, which is a HUGE hassle given all the red tape you have to get through just to be able to get a patch out in Xbox or PS4 (on PC it's instant and you don't have to ask for anyone's permission). I mean, damn. These guys sure have to go through a lot of hurdles, I respect them on that context.

I can't help but think how much this game would be if they just dropped the idea of patch parity between platforms and kept the ball rolling on PC as often as they could, without it being delayed by console regulations.

Having slight modifications for operators would be cool like giving Fuze an optional cluster charge that shoots out flashbangs instead or giving Twitch the choice of her vanilla drone or one which is a slower quieter drone which can jump.
I think once you've picked an operator the loadout screen is a bit one note currently and it'd be good to spice it up.

I think I meant to say a majority of disdain. There were certainly loyal fans from the beginning who looked passed some of the valid complaints, and shot down the ridiculous ones. But I meant as a whole it felt like it was treated as "oh yeah fuck that game" or "oh I heard that was busted". But the people who gave it a shot fell in love and fostered growth in the community.

Fucking please, this would be amazing. As it stands his ability is worthless in a game type which should never happen. I think alternates of Operatives would be the way to go at first and cut down Year 2's new operatives by half. 4 More new operators would be cool but 8 would make the game bloated. And adding variations of existing operators is a cheaper way to give more variety.

I was in the beta.
I don't remember it being that different.
I always thought it was 2 primary 1 pistol (2 if you were lucky) and then the average additional item.
I remember they gave Thatcher a shotgun because his artwork showed him holding one and people complained but that was it.

All I really remember was everyone being scared of shield users because hip firing was almost as accurate as ADS and the operator icons being really different. I think Blitz had a weird blue womans face as his and Thermite had a devil icon.

Yeah and they cause a content and fix starve for months on end because the devs can fall on the excuse of "oh well we're waiting for enough content to do a patch!". So two of the playerbases get shafted for extended periods of time while the PC laps them in new content.

And then it leads to the PC being hit with tons of unifnished and rushed changes. Because of the lack of concern for console cert they can just toss in whatever they want and fix it later. Consoles won't even receive the same patches because it'll include several changes since the PC ones. I don't like the horseshit Sony and Microsoft puts devs through. But if they abide by those rules for everyone it's much better than splitting the treatment.

Yeah, I know that it was stupid to announce it and that it would never have feature parity with PC. They were probably going to do a very limited, highly curated selection, like you said. Still, it made me sad that they couldn't even get THAT past Sony. And yeah, I suppose that bricking consoles is an issue, but that's extremely sad on its own right.

Jeez, if you can really help it I wish people just wouldn't buy consoles anymore. These walled garden sorts of practices really limit your freedom.

Windows is going down the same road, but at least we have Linux to look forward to. I'm glad that more and more devs are pushing in that direction nowadays though.

Once I came back to Siege I was pleasantly surprised how pretty it's become.
I always hated that character lock in screen which gave you fuck all information about what map or mode you were on and how everyone assumed it was bugged when someone had a wooden PC.

Yeah, that's the problem really. I totally understand that the consoles are in a bad spot anyway but I've just seen how circumventing the problem leads to huge issues. I've been burned too many times in the exact same way that I react harshly to it happening again. If all my friends didn't use console I'd probably be singing a different tune. But they do so I'm still heavily involved in the console ecosystem and know how fucked they get.


As it stands I just hope they continue supporting what turned out to be a lovely game. All their recent material regarding it has been super positive and focusing on how popular the game is getting. The second year of content doesn't seem to be in doubt at all. GROM WHEN

blitz is the one shield/pistol attacker who can actually be scary to fight against. he has to get up close into the enemy's face though, so it just depends if you're good at that playstyle. you also have to learn how to dodge nitro as a 1 speed, so use headphones to hear velcro tearing and always be ready to do a 180 and book it.

Just wondering. I know this kinda belongs more in /agdg/ (I'll try to start posting progress over there relatively soon) but still. Wanted to ask you your opinion/advice on something (since you're into the tacticool genre)

I'm making an early prototype for a tactics game in the vein of classic R6 and XCOM. The concept is "wizard police/special forces". Basically operating wizard operators, grid turn based tactics, planning out your teams' paths/spawn points on the map and choosing loadout before missions, you begin most missions in concealment to be able to ambush, and four classes. All the classes are related somehow to magic. Guardian is extended-riot-shield guy, who has passive resistances to magic but can't cast spells, provides cover for his team moving forward. Shadowblade is a stealth class armed with melee who can get closer to enemies without breaking concealment, can phase through walls like with Ghost suit, and is in charge of flanking / taking out weak casters at the back. Conjurer is an agile support, can cast weak offensive spells and crowd control with his hands and has good mobility. Wizard is main long range damage dealer but weak. Also acts as breacher for walls and doors by blasting them open and creating flanks. Like in old R6 games, you can take up to 8 allies on a mission, and separate them in teams of maximum 4 members (so it could be 4-4-0, 3-3-2, etc). The enemies would be both casters (necromancers, warlocks, evil wizards), and melee rushers a-la Mutons (demons, undead, elementals) etc, and the mission objectives would also involve saving hostages, preventing summonings from happening, defusing bombs, etc etc

Any thoughts on this quick summary? Any pitfalls you think I should avoid?

I use flash hiders on the L85, Blackbeard's MK17, Thermite's rifle, and MP5s. guns that I prefer to burst fire with. Compensators for Ash's gun, Twitch's FAMAS and such.

Suppressors I only ever put on handguns, I don't know if they're shit but I don't want to gimp my damage at all because I'm not a great shot and I want those body shots to count for as much as possible.

Flash hiders on guns you tend to burst fire with or have a slow fire rate, Compensators on fast firing guns. Suppressors should never be mounted on a main weapon short of the R4-C or F2, feel free to use them on sidearms for cameras, but Most of the time Suppressors ruin a gun. Like if you put a suppressor on thermite's gun it becomes far weaker. If you want to be sneaky use Twitch or Ash.

In the end, what would you rather play, an Operator that you're good with or an Operator you have a lot of fun with? Personally its down to a dilemma for me here, on defense, Caveira is really fun, but most of the time I kinda do badly with her and I feel as though I'm a wasted pick, but then I choose rook and then feel bored just waiting for the enemy to come by. For attack Its better off for me largely because I main BB and even them I'm pretty shitty with him. I'm pretty average on Valk. What do I do /r6g/?

Holy shit that scout is bad.

Sometimes I get a desire to go back to MGO, but living in Kiwiland the ping is just too much. My internet is decent but still get insane lag from hosts on the other side of the world.

Such a shame too, the core gameplay is so solid and multiplayer games with emphasis on sneaking are so rare these days.

MGO didnt deserve the fate it was given.

I was beyond excited for MGO, probably even moreso than for MGSPP. I even played it when it was a buggy nightmare of latency issues because it was still so fun.

MGO3 is pretty bad as a stealth game compared to MGO2, unfortunately it's the only way to play metal gear online on pc. MGO2 can still be played on ps3? if you pull some shenanigans so that you can access the restored community servers that were reverse engineered.

Think MGO2 went down a few years back.

I think MGO3 is okay, I've still had some great moments in it, akin to those from MGO2. But at the end of the day, nothing will be as good as MGO2's SDM mode.

So is ranked kind of a mixed bag? or does it get worse once you get a rank? had a few pretty good matches and one very close match. Wasn't put up against a full premade of plats or anything yet.

Being unranked is hell, in my 10 matches i got put up against gold/plat premades 5 times.

Got placed in bronze 3 and now it's alot better. vsing 90% bronze/silver, with a copper sprinkled in here and there, still occasionally get matched against golds though, but not too often.

You need to cancel it before a certain moment in the animation. I think it's when he reaches in for the middle, that's the point of no return.

toggle equipable gadgets option in the options menu, you now hold your gadget in your hand upon pressing the ability hotkey and you hold primary fire to place it, release primary fire at any point to stop placement of it immediately.

They said they'd be available to purchase for renown for one weekend, then someone on their side fucked up and didn't make them actually available for renown on that weekend and when someone asked them about it they said "We're sorry, we have no plans on making them available again for renown after this weekend, even though the store didn't update and make them buyable for renown at all."

Surprised they didn't get more flak for that.
