You don't need to do that to install the game, it's just another way to install it.
You can just drop the files and install through Mai instantly.

Installing the installer vpk (and until that new vitashell feature is fixed) the 1.04 vpk empties out ux0:app/titleid first, copy over everything from the resources folder in the 7z, without overwriting anything as the stuff that's in there should be from 1.04, but it's not everything, only that which was changed in the update
