I've seen a good share of hunters going for Astral, but the majority seem to go only for the looks.

But I agree it is amazing. The fact that Frenzy Fever gives instant affinity boost and the buff goes from +15% to +30% affinity with Trump Card is also amazing.

Can someone explain to me in plain English how exactly mount damage works?

I get that there are specific mountable hitzones and you've gotta hit those with enough aerial attacks.

But what causes a successful mount? Does each attack do a unique amount of aerial damage, so it's better to use some attacks/weapon types than others? Is it just the motion value of the attack translated to mount damage somehow?

I had the first one disconnect, which is fine (Hellblade went still, one hunter standing still etc) because that's no ones fault.

May I have a few tips on using the LS?

-I have trouble getting into red mode; finding openings for spirit combo from fade-slash.

-Can't stick to the monster? I thought fade-slash was supposed to help me float around it. Doesn't help evade attacks much because the distance is so small and the startup is pretty large all things considered.

What are the exceptions, though? Surely weapons with charge attacks have totally varying aerial damage values, or buff states like demon mode or bug buffs or red shield. Surely there are too many exceptions to make a blanket statement.

You can get twenty aerial damage hits as dual blades before a mount, but like two jump superpounds as a hammer. What's the deal?

It became a no skill, zero slot charm.
