Those areas were fucking awful. It wasn't the linearity or the fact that they were dead-ends, it was the fact that their level design was rushed, simplistic garbage and enemy placements were lazy and thoughtless. The whole thing was a mindless forward march and some sort of half-baked enviro-gimmick substituting actual content.

TotG is okay the first time you go through it, until you realize that most of the enemies past the first fogwall literally do not have any aggro scripted and only react if you attack them or walk into their models.

Similarly, archives is a boring slog through glorified tutorial enemies with bloated stats and a zone far too small to pull of its concept. It's absolutely tedious to move through and transitions into yet another bland pointless space full of recycled enemies that ends up in the Crystal Caves, a literally pointless boss runback trek with a stupid gimmick that takes about 5 seconds to figure out and is then never anything more than a falling hazard if you're not paying attention.

The game's quality takes an enormous nosedive after anor londo and only the dlc area salvages that. The entire rest of post-lordvessel DaS1 is sub DaS2-tier in level design, literally the worst collection of content in the entire series.

If I want to play Simon Says, I'd rather do it with NPCs than bosses.

I'd kinda like though if bosses would react to how well you were doing in a fight and for example if a boss had special attacks that would drain your health and give the health to him, if you didn't get hit by those attacks even once before he hits half health he does a small gesture to notify that.

Kind of like Sir Alonne does a seppuku animation if you defeat him without taking any damage, but mid-fight.

I would've also been cool to get a tiny nod from Nameless if you fought him while being in Heirs of the Sun or the Abyss Watchers only doing the Legion etiquette if you're a Watchdog.

You have very few iframes, you can't dodge through attacks that are slow/linger. You're supposed to physically dodge some attacks, rather than taking them head on.

Blocking is also very strong in nioh, don't be afraid to do so. Some attacks even from bosses can be blocked with almost no consequence. As a rule of thumb, if you can't dodge it well, blocking will usually handle it.
Blocking after you get hit will also get you out of combos, while mashing roll won't do anything.

Don't run out of stamina.
Don't forget to ki pulse.

I think against any bad player or people who dont recognize the combo, they are garunteed to die. If you miss the combo though or just barely whiff them, I could get severely punished during my recovery period, especially because I have hyper armor, so I cant even stagger then roll out.

i think hand ogres didn't bleed so quickly because i was around and it raised their resistances. i was fighting NG Crystal Sage with someone and he would bleed every 3 hits with Bandit's Knife buffed with Rouge and when i was alone in NG+7 it was every 2 hits as usual

I don't think Ciaran's job was hunting dragons, given the serrated stiletto she uses in her main hand. The Lord's Blade definitely makes it seem like she was a sanctioned royal assassin, not any kind of hunter or warrior.

DaS2 mocapped most of its animations, which is why it could afford to have so many variations spread across its massive roster of weapons. Almost every weapon class in 2 had two different movesets complete with R1, R2, rolling and running attack variations for 1H and 2H, and those animations were spread across and mix&matched through all the weapons in a given class.

1 and 3 both do traditional manual 3d animation. 1 has a huge amount of unique moves in part because they swung at the fences and put a tonne of effort into certain things at the expense of others, hence the rushed 2nd half of the game. It also had very few weapons in each category and a relatively small roster overall, so committing to making each and every weapon somewhat distinct was more feasible.

3 obviously focused more on animating bosses and enemies than player movesets, and while it barely has more than half of the weapons as 2, it's still significantly more than 1. I don't really like the fact that they chose to be so sparse with moveset animations this time around but I can see why going the DaS1 route would've harmed the overall quality of the game and why the DaS2 route was impossible just due to the methods used.

The thing connecting the two are the fact firelink shrine is literally a part of new londo and the catacombs a part of firelink. The Necromancers, who are suggested by that one shield to be part of the occult uprising, are obviously related to new londo just by proximity. That's also why bonewheel skeletons, a necromancer creation, are imprisoned in the painted world.

The occult thing was obviously not a ubiquitous or widespread rebellion, or else there would be far more human kingdoms subverted by it. Only New Londo is shown to have been influenced by anti-god sentiment and, consequently, destroyed by agents serving anor londo's interests.

It's a pretty solid inference to assume that one open rebellion against the gods while using dark powers was related to another open rebellion against the gods while using dark powers, especially with the geographic and proximal relation between the 2.

You must have been wearing full havel's or using buffs bc I've got ~25% absorption on in the webm (I think) and am a phantom. No idea what ng it was on tho, but if you are on ++ it should be doing way more damage to you, at least from my experience. It could be that you avoided all his hard hitting moves, bc there are only a couple that can actually do the amount of damage in the webm, and those all come out in the second stage (with the exception of the overhead "charged" slam)
